Pretty In Pink- How To Wear Barbiecore Over 50

For those of you who’ve been reading 50 Is Not Old for a while, you know that I embrace the Pretty In Pink vibe. I absolutely love pink in all of its shades. When I heard that Barbiecore was now a thing, I was thrilled. Barbie, the movie just hit the theaters, so hot pink is everywhere. I’ve been inspired by Barbie since I used to go play over at my cousin Cindy’s house, and that was a LONG time ago. She was an only child and had ALL of the Barbie clothes. Maybe that’s where I first fell in love with fashion!

I think everyone can work the Pretty in Pink vibe. I’m not asking you to dress in head-to-toe pink, although the pink suit below is tempting. I just think that a pop of color – pink of course – would look great in your wardrobe.

Pretty In Pink – Tops

Barbie – Paint Logo T-Shirt

For those who want to jump on the Barbiecore bandwagon 🙋‍♀️, but don’t want to dress in head-to-toe pink, this Barbie graphic tee is the perfect solution. I wasn’t sure how the tee would look or feel, but I’m thrilled with it. The tee is soft, and the graphic logo isn’t stiff like some. There are a LOT of Barbie tees to choose from, so grab a couple for you and your friends.

Vince Camuto Ruffle Neck Shirt

I love this shirt! I love how feminine it is, and I’m not bothered by the fact that it doesn’t have sleeves. I’d pair it with a white blazer like the one below.

Vince Camuto Balloon Sleeve Blouse

Seriously, this is so pretty! It’s got a flattering neckline, and the sleeves are perfect for those of us who don’t like to wear sleeveless. It would look great with a gorgeous pair of white pants, but I’m sure I would also wear it with jeans.

Pretty In Pink – Dresses

Tiered Satin Midi Dress

The tiered dress is a summer must-have, so why not get it in this gorgeous shade of pink? This dress would look great with heels or a pair of sandals. It is a fabulous date night or high school reunion dress. You will be the star of the reunion in this!

Vote Pretty Women’s Hot Pink Dress from Amazon

This dress would be gorgeous at a summer outdoor wedding! The design is simple – it’s all about the color. No need to overdo it with the dress. Pair it with some cute white sandals and a bag and you’re ready for pictures.

Pretty In Pink – Shorts

Intempo High Waist Shorts from Kohl’s

If I want to hear from you gurls, all I need to do is wear shorts, lol. I can’t believe how many of you won’t wear them! I don’t believe that you are ever too old to wear shorts. It’s all about the length that you’re comfortable with. I wrote about the different lengths, here.

Loft Riviera Shorts

This look is adorable! The shorts have a 4-inch inseam, so not short shorts. I usually stick to a 5-inch inseam, but I love these so much, and they don’t look that short on me. I have these shorts in this color, white, and black. Can you tell I love them? Here is where I wore the white pair:

Pretty In Pink – Pants

Loft Frayed High Rise Crop Jeans

The frayed hem is always going to be a favorite of mine and this color is perfect! The model is wearing navy and white with them, which looks great, but of course, white would also look amazing. In fact, you can wear just about anything – black, brown, and denim!

Grapent Pink High Waist Jeans

These jeans are so cute! Don’t believe me? Check them out in denim. And while I love traditional blue jeans, PINK is what is trending. Pink is what is happening now. These jeans retail for around $40 dollars so not too expensive. Barbiecore may be over once the movie is out, but pink will never go out of style at 50 Is Not Old!

Pretty In Pink – Blazers

I told you that I love pink! The pink suede pumps are OLD, but the blazer is new. Don’t love this look with the black graphic tee???

Women’s 3/4 Sleeve Blazer

Blazers can be boxy or fitted, and I like them both. This gorgeous 3/4 sleeved blazer is from Amazon and retails for less than $30 dollars! That’s a great price for a trendy item.

Theory Etiennette Wool Blazer

I told you that this suit would make you want to dress in head-to-toe pink! The blazer is expensive, but I’ve found that you really do get what you pay for. If you love pink like I do, this would be a great investment. Paired with black pants, it would give a WOW factor at the next meeting you attend.

Pretty In Pink – Shoes

Steve Madden Amani Ankle Strap Shoe

Gorgeous on so many levels. Let’s be real; pink is a very feminine color. These shoes don’t just say Pretty in Pink, they YELL it. They are currently 40% off, so grab them while you can.

Franco Sarto Loran Sandal

I’m a big fan of Franco Sarto shoes. My sister bought a pair a couple of years ago when we were shopping at Nordstrom. She hasn’t stopped talking about them since. lol. I finally bought a pair, and now I know why. They are classic and comfortable.

Pretty In Pink – Handbags

The Drop Mini Bag

If the pink pants, shirt, blazer, and shoes are too much for you, how about a handbag for a pop of color? This is as simple as it gets, but the color is right on trend. $42.00 dollars from Amazon!

Longchamp Medium Le Pliage Tote

I’m a fan of Longchamp Le Pliage totes! Okay, I’m a fan of any kind of tote, lol, but these are especially nice. This is a medium-sized tote, not the huge kind, perfect for you ladies who have shoulder issues.

Pretty In Pink – Jewelry

Zenzii Modern Earrings

These earrings are not only pretty and pink, but they’re also lightweight! If you’re not ready to embrace the whole Barbiecore aesthetic, try wearing these with a dark-colored shirt. You don’t have to dress like Barbie, just let her inspire you. 🙂

Kate Spade Braided Watch Band

Here’s another great way to be on trend, without looking like you’re an extra in the Barbie movie. Kate Spade is always a classic way to accessorize. This hot pink Apple watch band says, “I’m tech savvy AND trendy.”

So what do you think? Are you going to see the movie? Are any Barbiecore fans out there?

  1. What a fun post! My grand daughters and I are going to the Barbie movie on Thursday! We’re all dressing in Pink and we’re all having our nails done in pink! Life is better when you’re having fun! Honestly I would wear some of these pink suggestions for everyday office attire. The pink shoes are my favorite.

  2. Are you really going to see this movie?

    1. Maybe. I don’t really have anyone to go see it with. I doubt that Joe would want to go. 🤣

Love this! I’m more the navy Barbie t-shirt type (maybe those pink tassel earrings!), but all so fun!

  7. Lots of pretty pink! However, the info about the tiered pink dress does not come up. A cut out dress by Loft comes up.

    1. Paulette, thanks for letting me know. The Loft dress was sold out, so I switched it for the tiered dress. The links must have gotten forgotten. I’ve fixed the links, and here it is for you: https://shopstyle.it/l/bY12N

  8. Many fond memories of playing Barbies with my older sister! Love the pink sleeveless shirt! The pink shorts and jeans are cute but too much color for me. I would just wear a pink shirt or blazer to emulate this trend.

  9. Tania, you look killer good in the jeans, hot pink heels, and hot pink blazer!! Love it

  10. Awesome post! I can’t wait to see the Barbie movie. I feel silly. I am 70 years old. I am going to arrange an outing for my friends so we can go to the movie together and then dinner. I’ll tell them to wear pink! I am going to archive your post for when I buy my Barbie t-shirt! Thanks so much for the trailer too.

    2. Kathleen McDermott says:

Don’t feel silly. I’ll turn 70 in September and still have my 1961 Barbie and wardrobe. And Ken, Skipper, Midge and Allen. 😊
