CAN WOMEN OVER 50 WEAR BARBIECORE

You might be scratching your head wondering what Barbiecore is, and it is very simple. Barbiecore is the latest trend that is hitting the streets, social media, and even the runways. Barbiecore is basically all things Barbie; yes, I’m talking about the Mattel doll we all played with when we were young.

What is Barbiecore?

If you’re a fan of Barbie, then you know that she’s often dressed in pink clothing. In fact, it’s become her signature look. And, if you want to be in on the latest trend, you need to dress like Barbie and consider wearing pink clothing. Come On, Barbie, let’s go party! Lol! However, this doesn’t mean that you have to dress in head-to-toe pink, although I’ve seen celebrities doing that. Instead, we can get in on the trend by incorporating pink into our wardrobe, and I’m here to help.

Why Wear Pink?

There are a few reasons why wearing pink clothing is a good idea. First of all, pink is a bright and cheerful color. It’s perfect for showing off your personality and making you stand out from the crowd. Plus, pink is a feminine color, and thankfully for me, it looks great on Blondes.

Pink is a gorgeous color, and it goes well on virtually any skin tone. However, you should know that not all shades of pink will look good on you. If you have a deeper skin tone, then you should avoid light pinks. Instead, you should go with a dark shade of pink. I’ve also read that if you have a fair skin tone, then you should avoid darker pinks. Instead, you should stick with light shades of pink. I tend to wear both colors because pink makes me happy, so you decide which color you like the best on you.

Is Wearing Pink a Fad?

Pink is a timeless color that will never go out of style. It’s perfect for a special occasion or for everyday wear. Pink is the perfect way to add a little glamor to your wardrobe and express your unique sense of style. No matter what kind of outfit you wear, pink will always look great. Pink is one of the most popular colors around. It’s versatile and will look great on anyone.

Black and pink are two stunning colors that look fantastic together. The key to making this color combination work is to make sure that you are matching your shades properly. For example, you can wear a black blouse with a black skirt or pants. Then, you can wear a bright pink shirt or a bright pink sweater on top. This will give you a striking contrast and make your outfit look fabulous.

Incorporating Pink In My Life

There are a lot of ways to wear pink clothing, and I’m going to show you a few photos of how I wore pink in June.

Lips

First, let’s start with the makeup. Did you know that today is ALL ABOUT MAKEUP DAY? First, you need to choose a shade of pink that goes well with your skin tone. As I mentioned earlier, the rule of thumb is if you have a darker skin tone, then choose a darker shade of pink. If you have a lighter skin tone, then choose a lighter shade of pink. Once again, I throw that out the window, and I wear what I like. Here are some examples of lipsticks that I wear, and they range from pale pink to vibrant pink.

Nails

Other than your lips, you could choose to wear pink on your nails. Most of us have worn pink on our nails at one time or the other. However, the bright and vivid pink shades might give you pause. I love wearing bright pink in the summer, but only when my nails are long. If my nails are short like they are now, then I will choose light pink, so they don’t draw as much attention.

Accessories

Another way to incorporate pink into your life is through accessories.  A pink belt will add a touch of glamour to your outfit, and a pair of pink earrings can complement your outfit nicely and add a nice touch of sparkle to your ensemble. This is a time when you can go BIG and BOLD and have fun with shapes and sizes.

  1. Love pink! It is such a versatile color with so many versions of pink available. I’m a cool pink and love the purply pink shades. Great post!

  2. Pink is a wonderful color! It looks really good on you too. I find I need to wear darker pink shades as the light ones aren’t as flattering.
I have been noticing a number of the shirts you’ve been wearing have been puckering and even gaping in the front. The eye is drawn right to it. You might find going up a size will be more flattering. Otherwise, everything looks great!

  3. As a Breast Cancer survivor I wear various shades of pink often and is a good color for me…bonus!!! Sometimes when I look in my closet I chuckle at all the pink but it also makes me feel so very fortunate and grateful!
I have been following you for a few months and so enjoy your posts and love of life! Thank you and go Barbie!

I am looking for the video I think you did of how to put a belt underneath a Chunky sweater to give it that folded of overlook on the front of your pants.
    Tks

  5. it’s good to see some of the older outfits- I agree pink is certainly one of your colors !

  6. This is so NOT me. As an autumn, pink is not my jam. Coral/peach is the closest I get to pink. Not on the Barbie bandwagon, but Tania, rock on with your bad self. You wear it well

  7. Catherine says:

Apparently I am Barbiecore to the core because pink is one of my “signature” colours. I am very pale but have ice cold undertones! I can pull of the palest pink to the most vibrant fascia but keep me away from anything leaning towards peach. I think that the pale on pale skin idea doesn’t hold much weight. It really matters what you like and what likes you back. Thanks for all you do! This fall chocolate brown with pink. It’s going to be amazing!

  8. I love all your pink looks. I especially love the black dress with the hot pink shoes. Although I do not typically wear a lot of pink, I have a friend whose signature color is pink year round. She always rocks it as you do in all these pictures.

  9. LOVE your pinks today! You look great in pink.

  10. I have been wearing pink for 2-3 years now, even though I always avoided it before. I love it! And it is a color that gives my face warmth. As a matter of fact, I just bought a pink puff/down coat for a trip to Europe this October!

  11. What a fun post! I am a true pink lover Thankfully pink is a good color on me considering I like it so much.

  12. I also love wearing pink and didn’t realize it was a thing. I’m a big fan of the color. As a wife and mom to two boys, if there was something I wanted to be just mine, I always bought pink so the guys wouldn’t touch it!

  13. Ann Meadows says:

I think I will dress in pink today after reading this.

  14. This is such a fun post! From pink taffeta in my 80s wedding to pops of pink throughout my wardrobe, pink is one of my favorites! Pink is timeless!

  21. I didn’t know wearing pink was related to Barbie! I’ve been doing it all of my life since a bright shade of pink is my favorite color. In fact my bridesmaids wore a dark pink. It is a color that makes very happy and it looks lovely on you.

  22. I love wearing pink! Soft pink for my clothing but a bright pink for my nails and accessories. Great post today.

    1. I love wearing it too! I’m going to see if I can get a nail appt. Lol!

  23. I am an autumn with freckles and auburn hair. I do not look good in true pinks but rose as well as salmon compliment my skin and hair….be it clothing or lipstick or eye shadow.

    1. Karyn, it looks like you’ll have to add your pink with a brooch, shoes, or a handbag.
