Kids say the darndest thing was an old Art Linkletter saying. Today I was reminded of that BIG TIME! Let me back up though and tell you that Friday was a hectic day. I went to work even though I don’t work on Friday’s anymore because I needed to do payroll. Payroll was scheduled for Monday and since I am leaving town I needed to find a way to get everyone a paycheck on Friday. The new system is not as easy to maneuver as the old one I had so it took a phone call to Texas for us to figure out a way to get that done. Then, I needed to do a ton of other things and my son reminded me that I needed to pick up Emersyn from school.
I don’t know how I get myself into some of the situations that I do. Most of you have heard me say that I am shy and a lot of you find that hard to believe. But, those who know me know that when I am out of my “comfort zone” and surrounded by people that I know that I will just be very quiet. In fact, I won’t talk at all until I finally feel comfortable. Also, the thoughts of public speaking is something that can send me into a full-blown panic and I will start to tremble. So, what would you think would happen if I had to talk on a page that had around 80,000 people subscribed to it and I had never met any of them??? 😱
I bet every one of you has a song that will evoke a memory. If you hear the song start playing on the radio or television then the memories will start flooding back to you. I had this happen to me over the weekend but not with a song. My memories came flooding back to me when I saw a flowering crabapple tree in my son’s yard.
If you have grandchildren, then you know that they can talk you into almost anything. That was the case this past Saturday when Emersyn and I went to the park. But, later on, that afternoon after she got finished helping her dad wash cars, they came over to the house and we were all outside on the porch. It was beautiful on Saturday and the temperatures were really warm. Emersyn was running around in the yard and yelled out to me that she could do a cartwheel, “watch me NeeNee!”
I have started the long process of packing to go to Cancun, Mexico at the end of the week. I don’t want to show you what I am packing just yet since I want to take pictures of me wearing my outfits while I am there. However, I am going to show you one of my MUST “haves” that I am taking with me.
It is wild how alike so many of us are and how spread apart we are at the same time. I see several of you make comments about areas of our lives that we can all relate to and it just goes to show you how much we are alike even though we live in different parts of the country or even the world. I was scrolling on Facebook on Saturday and come across pictures that some of you had uploaded of a snowstorm.
Do you ever have things that happen that makes you wonder about the outcome? Over the Easter church services, it was mentioned several times about Peter denying the Lord three times. In John 13: 36-38 we read that Jesus told Peter what was to come.
36 Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, where are You going?”
Jesus answered him, “Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you shall follow Me afterward.”
37 Peter said to Him, “Lord, why can I not follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake.”
38 Jesus answered him, “Will you lay down your life for My sake? Most assuredly, I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me three times.
It is a beautiful yet windy Saturday here in Virginia. I just loved how the wind was whipping my dress around as I was trying to take pictures the other day. I know that this is not your typical Saturday outfit but occasionally you have to shake things up a little. Lol! I am starting to do some planning as to what I need to pack to go on my trip to Cancun and I wondered if I would need a dressier dress on the trip.
I had a friend of mine reach out to me and ask about the foaming sunless tanners that I have been posting on Facebook about. We got to laughing about some of the crazy things we did as children in order to get a tan. I mentioned that I used baby oil and iodine (didn’t everybody) and that I even took some aluminum foil and laid that under me trying to get the reflection of the sun to tan me even faster. She mentioned that she used motor oil! What!!! I don’t think that I had ever heard of that one unless you were trying to catch a greased pig. Lol!
When I get home from working at the lumber company I am usually dragging my tail. It was really bad yesterday when I got home so I heated up a cup of coffee that was still in the coffee pot from this morning. I am not really sure why I even bothered because normally coffee doesn’t really wake me up anyway. I finally got woke up enough to start on the blog and then when Joe came in he got to telling stories, etc. and that woke me up. I didn’t think anything else about the coffee until I went to go to sleep. Bad move, very bad move. Lol!
