I know a lot of you saw that movie with Robert Redford called the Horse Whisperer. If you didn’t then you need to check it out, it was a great movie. And, I bet a lot of you have seen the television show called the Dog Whisperer with Caesar Millan. I wish he would come and train my Lucy to not growl and bark when a new person comes into the house. But, I bet you have never heard of the Turtle Whisperer.
I have been dying to tell everyone about my Monday evening. A couple of months ago I got a message from one of my blog readers who said they were starting a blog and wanted to talk. I love talking about blogging so we jumped on the phone and talked for over an hour. We were so much alike and had a ton of things in common. It actually got to be quite comical when we would say, “me too.” We did that like 5 or 6 times. Lol!!! Anyway, before we got off the call we started talking about Rodan + Fields and she soon joined me in the business.
Joe knows that I will tell anything about him so he is never really surprised when one of his antics is talked about on the blog. This one, however, might get “ME” in the doghouse. Lol! Husbands sometimes do things that make you shake your head and think, “there is no way on earth that I would ever do that.” Let me set the stage for what happened.
I think that I might could get used to this retirement stuff, or in my case this week, semi-retirement. Lol! Today was a whirlwind and before I knew it the day was almost over. It started with me sleeping in which was such a treat. I took a shower and got dressed really early so that I could meet up with a blogger friend of mine. (You’ll hear all about it on Friday)
I think my husband might have pulled a fast one over on me. Monday was SUPPOSED to have been my first official day in retirement and instead, I ended up going to work (twice) and helping out to make sure that payroll was done correctly. We figured that people don’t care as much if inventory is off or a price is entered incorrectly, but that they get ill when their paychecks are wrong. Lol! So, I went and guided her through the process again to make sure it went smoothly.
It has been stifling hot this past week and even the humidity was out of control. When it gets this hot and sticky the last thing that I want to do is put on pants. Wearing a dress is the best solution, it is even better than wearing shorts.
What I believe is not the same thing that the Lord believes. My thoughts get convoluted with thoughts from the devil which is not what I want to happen at all. The devil tries to create havoc and doubt and the Lord tries to give calmness and faith.
I was going to the bank and post office the other day and I heard an interview with Lauren Daigle. In the interview, she was talking about the new album that she just released. I was excited to hear that she had come out with a new album because I love her music. Then yesterday, when I went shopping for some groceries I saw the single, “You Say,” on her Facebook page and it had been released. I pulled it up on YouTube and started listening to the song as I was driving down the road.
You say I am loved
When I can’t feel a thing
You say I am strong
When I think I am weak
You say I am held
When I am falling short
When I don’t belong
You say I am Yours
And I believe
What You say of me
This song hit me like a ton of bricks. As I was driving down the road I had tears streaming down my cheeks. Every time I would hear the words being sung, “When I don’t belong You say that I am Yours” I would start weeping all over again.
How many times have I thought to myself that I didn’t belong, that I was not good enough? It is probably a ridiculous number and one that I don’t even want to think about. All those times, it has been the devil talking to me and “I” was choosing to listen to him.
So, today, I am choosing to BELIEVE the Lord. I believe that He is my fortress and that makes “me” strong. I believe that He holds my hand and that makes “me” brave. I believe that He takes “my” burdens and that gives me comfort. I BELIEVE in the Lord!
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
It is not easy to keep doubts and worry from creeping into our thoughts. The devil prays on our insecurities and he knows what buttons to push. A visual reference can help, so take the time to print out this picture and put it somewhere that you will see it when you wake up. Start the day off by knowing in whom you believe. If you need, print off more than one and put them around your house until you feel the joy from knowing that “I Am Yours!”I would love to spread the love of the Lord. Please share this post with others.
Have A Blessed Sunday
Today is my first official day of retirement and how do I spend it? I spent hours and hours on the Nordstrom website looking at the Anniversary Sale. lol! Here I said that I wasn’t going to be buying a lot of things and instead I have a cart full of items. It dawned on me after I had been on there forever that I should show you the items that caught my eye and that way YOU wouldn’t be on there near as long as I was.
Guess what??? The dishwasher is back up and running! Joe is such a mechanically minded kind of guy that he can usually fix almost anything. He started to doubt himself for a little while but he just couldn’t stand the thoughts of the dishwasher besting him. Lol! He started fiddling with it and before long the motor started running again. I am crossing my fingers that it is a permanent fix.
It must be the day for appliances to break down. Did anyone else have anything go kapooie? I was talking to one of my friends down in Florida yesterday and she mentioned that her refrigerator decided to quit and that the repairman can’t come out to service it until tomorrow. We talked about what to do with the food that was in the refrigerator and then I wished her good luck and got off the phone. I think the appliances “mayhem” guy must have transferred through the phone waves because when I got home there was an issue.
