The Best Neutral Tops For Summer

While I’m a gurl who LOVES color, usually the brighter, the better, I do believe every closet should contain the classics. Neutrals – black, brown, grey, cream, and tan – NEVER go out of style. I’ve blogged about it many times, but today I thought I’d share some of the best neutral tops for summer, mostly in tan or beige.

Believe it or not, there’s a wide range of what’s considered tan or beige. So how do you know what will look best on you?

People with cool undertones to their skin should choose richer shades such as sand, khaki, and camel like the photo below.

People with warmer skin tones should stick to lighter versions of tan such as cream and light beige.

I’ve grouped the following tops together as cool or warm but keep in mind that how they appear on my computer monitor may be different that yours. Also, as all of us who order online know, the photo doesn’t always do the color justice. Either way, these are all cute tops!

Short-Sleeve Camp Shirt

I love this Khaki camp shirt. My niece was wearing this exact top while we were on the houseboat and it looked great. Pair this with jeans, white pants, or black shorts, and you’d look fabulous! It was only $27 dollars, another plus.

Summer Casual with Flirty Sleeves

Beige doesn’t have to mean boring. I love these sleeves. This material doesn’t have a lot of stretch, and the reviews say it runs small so be sure and size up! I already have this top in A-dot white blue, I’ll add that photo below.

Wit & Wisdom 3/4 Sleeve Blouse

Wit & Wisdom is one of my favorite brands to buy at Nordstrom, although I typically purchase jeans. I especially like the detailing of the neck and sleeves and that I can wear this untucked with pants, shorts, etc. I mean, I feel like I’ve mastered the half-tuck, but sometimes I don’t want to be bothered with it.

Wit & Wisdom Print Ruffle Shirt

Wearing neutral doesn’t mean you have to always choose a solid print. This ruffle shirt, another from Wit & Wisdom, looks fabulous. I’d pair it with some well-worn black pants or gray shorts. I know it’s sleeveless, but that’s an easy fix with a cardigan or jean jacket.

Lace Deep-V Shirt

I’ve linked to this shirt before in different variations. I don’t know why, but it looks so flattering to me! I love the detailing around the neckline and sleeves. It looks amazing, and it’s only $31 dollars from Amazon.

Button Down Peplum

When I mentioned before that the color might look different on our computers/phones, it was this shirt I had in mind. I can’t tell if it’s richer and should be in the top category, or if it is lighter and should be with the warm undertone group. I say if you like the shirt, try it! It’s only $26.00 dollars, and the peplum can cover a world of issues, lol.

Halogen Cross Front Printed Top

Another print! Wouldn’t this look gorgeous with a pair of cream slacks and brown sandals? I like the cross front and the wide cuffs. It looks like a wrap shirt, but it’s fake. It also has a small snap to keep the v-neck from going too deep.

Allegra Women’s Cap Sleeve Blouse

Another super cute blouse at a great price point. There’s some cute detailing for a $27 dollar shirt. I like the neckline, and the double cap sleeve elevates this shirt from basic. I also like that it’s not too long but hits around the hips.

Button-Down Shirt with Roll-Up Sleeves

A button-down is a universal staple. You can wear it like the model, as an overshirt, or with a half tuck into a pair of jeans. I’d half-tuck this shirt into a pair of black jeans and throw some cool shades on to finish the look.
