The Best-Selling Lipstick Colors for Women
1. Classic Red
Red lipstick is the ultimate statement color when it comes to lipstick. It’s been iconic for decades, instantly making me think of Hollywood starlets and fashion icons. I’ve even been known to rock a red lip when the mood strikes. You can read my own tips for the perfect red lip here!
Red lipstick is a great go-to for anything from a fancy event like a wedding to a night out with the girls or your husband. It’s bold, versatile, never goes out of style, and instantly adds a touch of polish to any outfit. If you’re new to rocking red lips, keep your eye makeup simple and go light on the blush to let your lips really pop. Try adding winged eyeliner or a smoky eye for a bit of extra glam.
P.S. If you think red is not for you, you might just be trying the wrong red. The key to the perfect red lipstick lies in its undertones—whether you opt for a cool, blue-based red or a warmer, orange-based hue, there’s a red for everyone.
Best-Selling Shades of Red:
This is probably one of the most iconic red lipsticks out there. It’s a universally flattering blue-toned red that works for a wide range of skin tones. Ruby Woo has a matte finish, giving you that chic, retro vibe. I have heard that this one can be drying, just as a head’s up!
This shade is a bold, deep red that’s both classy and super eye-catching. The formula glides on smoothly and gives you that rich, intense color with just a touch of shine. If you’re in the mood for a classic red that really pops, this one’s a winner.
Here’s another best-selling one to try! This red is called Dragon Girl and has a slight pink undertone, making it a brighter and more playful version of the classic red. It’s great for both light and medium skin tones.
2. Nude Lips
If you’re into a more subtle look, try out a nude lipsticks. This is a great choice for everyday wear that you can pair with any outfit. Nude doesn’t mean boring; instead, it’s all about enhancing your natural lip color. This is going to be a different shade for every complexion, and nude lipstick colors can range from soft beige to rosy pink to rich caramels.
To nail the perfect nude, you’ll want to match the undertone to your skin tone. Fair skin looks great with soft pinks, while medium or olive tones can go for peachy nudes. Rich caramel and brown-based nudes work beautifully on deeper skin tones. For a little extra oomph, add a touch of gloss to make your lips look fuller and more youthful.
Best-Selling Nude Lipstick Shades:
Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk is a cult favorite for a reason. This nude-pink shade has a way of looking amazing on just about everyone, making it a go-to for an everyday look. Its soft, natural hue is flattering on light to medium skin tones, enhancing your lips with a subtle, rosy tint that feels both fresh and sophisticated.
This best-selling rich, deep-toned beige has a velvety matte finish that’s both timeless and trendy. It’s the perfect everyday color that adds just the right amount of warmth and definition to your lips without overpowering your look.
3. Mauve and Berry Tones
Mauves and berry shades strike the perfect balance between pink and purple, blending cool and warm tones in a way that’s flattering and elegant. Lipsticks in these colors easily transition from day to night, and they can add depth without being overpowering like a bright red.
Lipsticks in mauves and berry tones can be applied lightly for a soft, sheer finish or layered for a bolder, more dramatic look. When rocking a bold berry lip, keep the rest of your makeup simple to let your lips take center stage.

5. Coral and Peach
Coral and peach lipsticks are perfect for adding a warm, bright touch to your look. They really shine in spring and summer, especially when your skin has that sun-kissed glow, but I know some women rock them year round!
These shades are fresh and uplifting, great for brightening up your complexion without going too bold. I need color. Nude makes me so washed out. I don’t even run to the grocery store without lipstick.
Can you tell me What lipstick are you wearing in the third and fourth pictures? I really like those.
Honestly, I have no idea. I didn’t write it down and it was a long time ago.
I love the nude color for myself. Red is beautiful on you.
Coral! I have a warm complexion and coral lipstick and lipglosses look very natural on me.
All of the shades of lipstick looked good on you Tania!!!! I can never find the right shade for myself but I’m going to try a lot of the ones that you blogged about.
Great article! I miss those Avon samples too. It would be very helpful if some of the brands brought those back.
I appreciate the lipstick suggestions. I’m going to try a few of the pinks.
Barb
Revlon Super Lustrous 510 Berry Rich is my old stand-by everyday lipstick. It glides on so smoothly and the color is just red enough but not too dark or mauvy. But there are so many great choices out there! I do like Clinique and Estée Lauder too. A lady isn’t completely groomed until she applies her lipstick, haha!
I prefer the nude and mauve shades of lipstick. I feel like a red draws attention to my less than plump lips and that is all someone sees. I do like it on others though.
Love those mauve and berry shades!!
I love Charlotte Tillbury lip colors, Glowing Jen and Pillowtalk.
I also have several from Color the World. My favorites are Rose Gold, Confident and Irresistible. Their mission is for each color to raise awareness for a different charity around the world! Pretty cool! 10% of their profits are given to numerous charities.
Good Morning!
Love the lipstick piece you wrote for us. Nude and berry colors look fabulous on everyone. Great info for those of us who struggle to find colors that work for us. Thank you!
Hope your Mom is better very soon.
I’m red on the way! 👄❤️
Finding the right lip color is always difficult for me. Other than the reds I’m going to see which ones go best with neutral colored lips
Just my opinion, I think the berry shades look best! Thanks for this post! Lipstick shades is a personal struggle of mine so it’s nice to have a reviewing model!
I’ve been wanting to try that Dior gloss
Coral and peach look best on me. It’s hard to find a peachy nude. They seem to get discontinued like Elf’s hustle shade. I’m going to quit coloring my hair and I read a bold lipstick looks good with white/gray hair. Thanks for the suggestions. I’m glad your Mom is not in pain. The pain pills do help. I had bunion surgery many years ago and I didn’t have pain. Of course I did take pain pills the first two weeks of recovery.
Personally, I like you best in the mauve-berry shades. It really brings out the natural glow of your complexion. I lean toward softer shades depending on what I’m wearing. A habit I picked up in the 60s😊
I tend to go toward mauve and berry shades too.
so many choices…love Ulta where I can sample colors!!!
I love your emails and posts! I like to see the styles you are wearing.
I love a red lipstick on my lips, however it gets on my chin, on my fingers, then on my clothes or where I touch. But, I keep trying. I will definitely try your suggestions.
So glad your mom is recovering well. I had the surgery several years ago and there was little or no pain. The worse was the inability to use my arm and hand. My 100 year old mama lives with me and it is vertically impossible to take care of yourself let alone a parent, pets and a home.
Patt, I will dab some transparent powder on my red lipstick to help set it.
Thanks for showing all th different colors. I usually look best in peachy tones.
I like red lipstick but I feel like it enters the room before I do thanks for what to be on the look out for
Lol! It definitely makes a statement.
I love L’Oreal lipstick, too! I lean into the coral colors being a red head. All the shades of colors look so good on you! Beautiful eyes, too! So glad to hear your sweet mama is doing so well after her surgery! Take care.
Blessings,
I like the sheer and nude colors to give just a hint of color.
Boxom lip polish is hydrating
Agree with Joan-those Avon samples were sure fun.
Love the Clinique Almost Lipstick.
Glad to hear your Mother is doing well! I’m keeping her in my Prayers🙏
I so much enjoy your post and look forward to reading them each day.
Great selection and colors. Like the nude colors the best.
I love the literal nude one & I wear it a lot! All very pretty.
I love it too! It is the perfect nude color.
I’m in a lipstick doldrums right now. I wish they had lipstick samples like Avon use to have. Loved those, try on before you buy.
