How To Style One Pair Of Pants Five Ways
The weather has finally decided to cool off for a little bit. I was beginning to think that fall was never going to show up, but it is finally here, and I’m thrilled! I love fall clothing because it is warm and cozy, and I love the jewel-tone colors. Today, I’m going to show you how to style one pair of pants five ways for fall.
How to Style One Pair Of Pants Five Ways
When you want to make your wardrobe look more extensive than it is, then you need to get creative. Learning to wear your clothing in multiple ways will expand your wardrobe visually, if not literally.
- Keep the core piece neutral. Most of the time, when we dress, we want people to remember what we are wearing. That is NOT the case if you want to style items in multiple ways. Keep the item neutral, and don’t pick a statement piece that people will remember.
- Dress in layers. Adding a coat, jacket, cardigan, or wrap can drastically change the look of the outfit.
- Statement accessories can be the star of the outfit. If you wear bold earrings or a statement necklace, that will grab all of the attention, and no one will notice that you are wearing the same top or pants.
- Change up the shoes. Shoes can make a huge difference, and they can change the look from dressy to casual. Changing the color of the shoes also makes a big difference.
- Finally, pick items that can be worn with multiple things. A white shirt, a navy sweater, or a camel top are all examples of tops that could be paired with multiple pants or jackets to look different each time.
How to Style One Pair Of Pants Five Ways – Animal Print
The “one” pair of pants that I will be wearing with all of the looks is the Vegan Suede Bootcut Jeans in Costa Coffee. You will love the way these jeans look and fit! These are super comfortable, and the stretch fabric is buttery soft. I doubt that you’ll fool anyone that these are real suede, but they still look amazing and are perfect for fall. I’m wearing my usual size 8, and I think the jeans run true to size. I’m also wearing the Refined Belt in Rye or Black in the photos. It looks like there is a Waitlist on all the colors except Mocha. I’m wearing a medium in the belts.
Now, let’s get down to the fun stuff. What did I pair with the coffee-colored jeans??? I wanted to start off with a BANG, so I added this gorgeous Animal Print Cashmere Sweater. I’ve been eyeing this cashmere sweater for a while, and I finally decided to take the plunge and order it. I am so glad that I did!!! This is soft, as you would expect, and I know I’ll be wearing it on repeat. Don’t worry about it being a statement piece; after all, animal print is a neutral. Lol!
Layering is a great way to wear the same pieces but get a different look. I added the tan Cropped Jacket that I styled in the Latest Fall Styles From Kohl’s post a couple of weeks ago. The jacket looks great with the deep coffee color and picks up the lighter brown in the cashmere sweater.
How to Style One Pair Of Pants Five Ways – Denim Jacket
This look is a casual outfit that would be perfect for a crisp fall day. I can see myself wearing this to the store, a ballgame, going to a friend’s house, etc.
The burgundy Mongolian Cashmere Polo Sweater is so soft, and I love the way it looks and feels. I’m trying to decide if I need to order a medium to see if that size would fit me better. The sweater is a drop-sleeve, so it is going to be a tad oversized, and I don’t want it to fit too tight. Oh well, I’ve sat here and talked myself into trying the medium because I’ll always wonder until I check it out. The great thing about Quince is they have a 365-day return policy, so I’ll not be rushed to send one of them back.
If you don’t have this essential fall item, then order the Stretch Denim Jacket NOW! I have many denim jackets, and I like each of them for different reasons. But, if I had to get rid of all of them but one, this would be the one I keep. It’s not the most expensive, but it is the one I reach for every time!
How to Style One Pair Of Pants Five Ways – Satin Shirt
While this outfit is casual looking, I would call it an elevated casual look. This is my preferred way to dress since it isn’t too casual or too dressy. It works for multiple occasions, so you will get plenty of wear with it.
I love a satin shirt because it can be dressed up or down. Normally, all my satin shirts are solid colors, but I couldn’t resist this Leopard Satin Button Down Blouse. I love the blouse with the faux suede jeans, but it would look great with regular jeans or black dress pants.
To elevate the look even more, I added this gorgeous trench coat. The description does not call is faux suede, but that is how it looks and feels to me.
Here is a look at the trench snapped close and tied with the belt. This is a beautiful, lightweight coat for fall, but I don’t think it would do much to keep the rain out. The description does say that the coat needs to be dry-cleaned, so take that into consideration if you are thinking about ordering it.
How to Style One Pair Of Pants Five Ways – Plaid
Don’t you just love all these deep caramel colors? Even my hydrangeas got in the fall mood with their bright golds and tans.
I love everything about this outfit! The Burnt Caramel Satin Shirt is perfect for fall, and it matches the Plaid Blazer like they were meant to be worn together. This is the perfect fitting satin shirt, and it comes in several colors. The shirt is on sale, and at this price, you can grab a couple.
The Plaid Blazer is also lightweight, which is what I look for in early fall. I don’t want anything too heavy or confining since the weather hasn’t dipped into the 40s yet. The jacket isn’t lined, so if that is a detail you look for, you might want to skip this one. The jacket does come in a taupe/navy blue version if this color is too bright for you.
How to Style One Pair Of Pants Five Ways – Cardigan
The last outfit is probably the most casual of all. This is an easy-going, laid-back look that is perfect for running errands, etc. It looks polished and put together without looking stuffy.
This Cable Stitch Cardigan is definitely not for you ladies in Flordia, Texas, etc. It is fairly heavyweight and will be so warm and cozy this winter. I’m wearing the cardigan as a pullover sweater, but you can also wear it open with a shirt underneath. I love the cable stitch pattern, and the color is a fabulous neutral that is great for fall and winter.
How to Style One Pair Of Pants Five Ways – Accessories
The accessories for my outfits were not the star of the show. Even though a few of them, like the Tortoiseshell Chainlink Bracelet, Ridged Cuff Bracelet, Chainlink Bracelet, and Long Strand Necklace in Teal Mix, were statement pieces, they still played a supporting role. I think that accessories make or break a look, so you should always try to add earrings, a necklace, or a bracelet to give the outfit a finished look.
So, what do you think? Can you see yourself wearing any of these outfits? Which is your favorite?

Great ideas!! Love it. I do like the trench coat, looks comfy and stylish.
I love the five ways you styled the same pants. I do that often with my comfy jeans.
I’m right with your Mom as I have been on a spending spree lately and need to curb it in. Lol!!
The satin shirts are my favorites!
Lol…this is a day later, but I have to agree with your Mom! I have spent too much money after viewing your posts in the last two weeks! First the Kohl’s post (got that jacket above, plus almost ALL of the rest of it included in the post!) and now a big Banana Republic haul after falling in love with those pants!
Cathy, I couldn’t help but snicker. I get it, but the good thing is that you’ve got LOTS of new clothing to wear this fall!
Lovely versatile slacks! Looks great!
It’s been several years since I started folk you and I must tell you “thank you”!!! I have learned so much from you and my style is so perfect for me these days! I ordered a sweater from Quince that I can’t wait to wear and my raincoat from Amazon should be here tomorrow. You rock!! PTL
Karen!!! That makes me feel great!
I love the jeans
Such great suggestions. Thanks, Tania!
Great ideas. I love leopard too. It’s classic and I will never stop wearing it.
Me neither
This was a great post! I’m inspired. Thanks, Tania.
I love all of these outfits!! 😀
Yay!!!
I love these bootcut jeans. I enjoyed all of the versatile looks you posted. I have considered the frame TV—your post reminded me to check it out again.
We love ours.
Those jeans look so comfy!
Now I need a satin shirt🤗
I love today’s post with 5 way with one pair of pairs. This first outfit is my favorite.
Regarding the Frame TV, what has been your pros and cons? I am thinking seriously replacing my living area TV with the frame.
Lil, we love ours. I came think of a single con.
My favorite passage or should I say one of. A lamp for my feet and a light for my path always or I stray like a cat.
Love the 5 ways to style pants. So cool. A new outfit for 5 days. Thank you.
Lots of great ideas!
Great post, Tania! I love all these outfits ♥️
Thank you for the inspiration !
Really helpful post – gives me inspiration on how to change it up.
The suede pumps are to die for! Absolutely gorgeous and so versatile. I have the animal print blouse from Amazon. A really nice blouse. I look forward to your post each day!!
You knocked it out if the ballpark with these outfits. I love them all! these pants are a great price and look so classy with all the tops. Awesome styling,Tanya!
Thank you for commenting! 😊
I think your last look is my favorite!
Love the pants. Where can I find them? The retail link isn’t connecting even with my security shield down.
Teresa, it’s worked for everyone else. I’m not sure what the issue could be.
I love several of the outfits but every item looked plum colored rather than coffee. I was surprised when I clicked on the links.
Jackie, they are a deep coffee color. The yellow hue from the sun messed with the photos.
I like the last look the best!
Wearing the cropped cardi buttoned like a pullover, inspiration! I’ll be taking 2 of those satin blouses, too. Great styling, Tania 😊
Very nice!
Great capsule wardrobe idea
Tania, u always look so nice and slim.
I am top heavy and no hips. Love to wear high waisted
pants to cover my roll above my waistline. lol
Especially the no waist, no zipper, just a nice big tight band.
Have a blessed day in Jesus!
These are great choices for fall! Thanks for showing us a way to incorporate one pair of pants with many great options!
Those colors!! They are all so rich and beautiful!
I love the polo sweater.
Love the pants you chose and the top choices. I’ll consider dressing up a pair of casual pants with a silky blouse. Thanks for the suggestions.
LOVE those pants. Am I crazy or is my monitor off? They don’t look coffee. More of a gorgeous grape color. Either way, beautiful. And I love changing up my items to make my wardrobe feel bigger.
It is the late afternoon sunlight. Notice how yellow everything looks.
Tania, You look so nice in all of the pretty outfits you created.
You show great versatility in your outfits. Great post.
What a fun post! you always have such great ideas. My favorite was the purple top with the brown pants. just glorious
Nice jeans
So many great looks!
Thank you for all your ideas and great looks! I was wondering if the pants drag on the ground when you wear the camel flats. That’s the problem I have with wearing different height shoes with pants…either they are good for one style but don’t work with another.
Donna, they were too long for the flats. I only put the flats on to give everyone another type of shoe, since some ladies are taller than me.
I really like that first outfit with the leopard print sweater. But also the leopard print satin blouse outfit. I guess that is the sati blouse I will be adding to my wardrobe since I was drawn to it in both posts!
Love the suede jeans. All the outfits look great on you. Especially like the looks with the tassel loafers and suede pumps – not so much with the beige flats. I bought some wide leg pants and jeans for the coming cooler season, but down here in Florida it will be a while before I wear the jeans. I think the key to a good looking outfit with the wide leg bottoms is the footwear.
Love seeing all your styling ideas! Gives me a guideline to look for similar styles that are more budget friendly.
You are right, no one would ever realize that is the same pair of pants. I especially like the plaid blazer and the sweater with the scarf. Those are really cute combinations. Dressing like this is essential on a cruise, that is very long. One pair of black pants goes a long way with 5 different tops, accessories, etc.
Love the cable k nit sweater buttoned and the leopard print satin blouse. We don’t have Nordstrom here in Canada that I know of but I will be looking for similar items in this post
Love Love all these looks.
Love the pants. They look like plum but when I click on the link they do not offer that color
Yes, the photo looks plum but they are actually coffee!😊
Thank you for your creativity. Your ideas and pairings are amazing.
I love all of these!!!
Love the suede jeans but I can’t wear lower rise jeans anymore! Thanks for all the great options
yes, love the way you put outfits together. Gives me inspiration and ideas
Great ideas!!!!thanks
Your outfits were spot on for fall.Absolutely gorgeous!!! Thanks a bunch 😊
These outfits are on point, and I see a lot of jewel tones here – my fave! Thanks for the inspo. 💛
Love love love the different styles!! This blog gave me lots of ideas to mix up what I usually wear! Great choice with the suede pants. So Fall!!
Louise, you can do the same thing with jeans, skirts, etc.
I love the ways you styled the jeans in so many different ways. I cannot afford many of the items you present but I can find less costly alternatives with your guidance. Looking good need not cost a lot. Thank you so much!
Nancy, several of the items I shared are from Amazon and Banana Republic Factory. I tried to show less costly items along with a few high quality ones.
