LET THE CELEBRATION BEGIN
One year ago today, I posted my very first post on 50 is Not Old. My first post, (a must read that will take all of a minute, maybe two) talks a little about why I decided to start blogging. It is funny to think back to the beginning, I knew absolutely NOTHING about blogging. I was too dumb to know that it was hard, and that there were thousands and thousands of blogs out there. I just thought you came up with a name, posted a few pictures, and people would send you lots of goodies and that you would make lots of money.
I am supposed to be doing a post today for the Ageless Style Link-Up, but since it is my blog anniversary, I am not following through with the theme. Be sure to check out the other ladies to see How To Transition Summer Pieces Into Fall.
Why did I decide to blog? I used to watch House Hunters a lot on television. If you have never watched the show, they take a couple looking to buy a house, and they find them three or four to choose from. I remember several of them who talked about their jobs. They said they worked online, so they could work from anywhere in the world. I thought how cool that was; you could just go and come and never have to worry about finding a new job. I was also thinking about retirement. Maybe I could find a way to earn some extra money after I retired, which is still a long way off.
I spent one weekend on Youtube trying to learn how to set up a Wordpress blog. Thankfully, my sister had a friend who could design and set up websites. She agreed to do my hosting, which was wonderful. She didn’t charge much at all for a year’s hosting, and the best part was, she took care of setting up EVERYTHING. I didn’t have to do a thing. My first post had three likes on Facebook, and no comments. My first post to get a comment was on this post about Labor Day. My first commenter was JoLynne Shane!!! I must have left a comment on her page, because there is no way she would have found me otherwise. My first commenter that was unprompted was Brandye. And for that Brandye, I have a small gift coming your way? She has been with me from the beginning, and is still with me today!
September was off to a rousing start, with around 2,088 pageviews. That was quite a lot, seeing as none of my friends or family even knew about the blog, These views were only from people I didn’t know. I soon found out how to do link-ups with other bloggers, and my pageviews would double every month.
I just want to share with you a few stats after one year:
- I have now had 9,630 comments left on the blog
- I average over 200,000 pageviews a month
- My pageviews for the year is now 1,558,515
- I have done 362 posts
- Lisa has left the most comments (you have a gift coming your way too)?

WOW!!! I am not sharing these numbers to brag, I don’t even know if these are bragging numbers. Lol! I am just saying that it is possible to start a blog when you are in your 50’s. I know that the Lord made this happen. There is no way that an over 50, computer challenged, in the middle of nowhere, woman that had no writing skills and no real shopping venues, could make a fashion blog and it be successful. Maybe my Sunday blog posts are the reason, otherwise I have no idea why. I am just thankful!
I have started receiving goodies and making a little money, but don’t look for me to quit my day job anytime soon. Haha! I am so looking forward to the upcoming year, and I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for my blog. I am going to be a doing a few “tweaks” in the upcoming month. Nothing major, but things that take some time to implement.

Tania, I found your blog a couple months after you had started and I went back and read all your posts. It would be very difficult for me to name just one favorite. I love your Sunday posts, they fill me with inspiration. I sometimes think you could put on a paper bag and look great. You have style gurl! I love you in bright colors. I love it when you wear black and white, such a classic look. Even though I would not attempt some of the looks you do, you have inspired me to step up my game. Thank you for sharing your love of fashion, family and faith with us on a daily basis.
Happy Anniversary!! I “found” you last spring…. I started reading fashion blogs about 1 1/2 years ago….my mom was ill for many years and after helping my parents during the day, I enjoyed reading light, fun things on the Internet. Long story short, my mom passed away June 2015. After a year now with my focus on my healthy, but elderly dad, he passed away suddenly in July….so I have continued to enjoy reading fashion blogs – especially yours! I love your use of color and lighthearted look at life. Thank you for helping me these last few months as I adjust to my new life…..

Congratulations Tania! This is such an accomplishment. I only started following your blog at the beginning of summer, but I have become addicted to checking in with you every morning. I really liked your YouTube videos on applying makeup and picked up a few tricks. Although I check in with you every day, I have been hesitant to subscribe because I get too many emails and I hate to go through them after work. In celebration of one year of your inspirations though, I decided to cave! Your favorite post was probably “Pink makes me happy” although I rarely wear pink. I just loved the softness of it. Keep up your fun, inspiring work… I appreciate you!

My favorite fashion post was the one this summer where you wore pink and orange together. I can’t remember the title that day, but it was such a happy and beautiful outfit! Congrats on your 1st Anniversary! I found you last January and liked that you wore a lot of color! I dislike black and find I’m happier wearing color.
