HOW TO WEAR WHITE BEFORE MEMORIAL DAY
Good morning, everyone! I hope all of you had a great weekend. The weather was nasty here, so I didn’t get out, but that might not have been a bad thing. I know things are crazy right now in a lot of places, so please be safe and use precautions if you have to get out and go to work. I think that it is smart to keep informed and to take precautions, but I also think that it is essential for your well being to keep a positive mindset and not dwell on the worst-case scenario.
Yesterday was Joe’s birthday. It was uneventful, and we didn’t go out or have anyone over to celebrate. Instead, we decided to fix ribs at home and I baked him one of his favorite desserts, lemon pound cake. He loves this pound cake, and he will ask for it year after year. Diane, our neighbor when we lived in Gray Tennessee, made this one time and gave me the recipe. He also loves a Tres Leches Cake, and my daughter sent me a recipe for a Coconut Tres Leches Pound Cake that I am going to make as soon as the lemon one is gone. I have seen people speculating about a baby boom that will happen after this virus scare is over. That isn’t going to happen in this household, but we may end up gaining 20 pounds. Lol!
I’ve seen a lot of bloggers showing outfits for staying at home. That is a great idea, except that most of the outfits have been gray and black looking sweatshirts with leggings or jeans. I don’t care if you are in your pj’s or in a sweatshirt, but please add some color to your look. The news is depressing, so do everything in your power to bring color into your house. Color makes you feel better, and it is a great mood changer. If you have bright pillows, get them out. Maybe you have a bright-colored plate or vase, set that out on the counter. Bring in tulips if you have them blooming, cut off some forsythia branches and put them in a vase, or set out a bowl of apples and oranges. Do anything you can to brighten up your household.
This outfit is bound to make you smile. It isn’t a jump out at you type of color, but it is springy and happy looking. The floral blouse with the tie is a gorgeous color of blue. I think that the different shades of pink flowers are what make this print. I love the deep v-neck, shocker I know, and I love the slight puff to the long sleeves. The material is 100% rayon, so this blouse has a silky and luxurious feeling. I am wearing my usual size medium, and this fits me perfectly. This is on sale right now, and it is well under 30.00. Here is the link to this blouse.
Sorry, I have no jewelry to show you today. I was talking to my sister on the phone and using my Airpods. So, guess who forgot to take them out. Lol! I bought these when I went to Nashville for the R+F Convention, but I honestly didn’t know if I would use them. But, I am using them daily, and multiple times a day. I use them so that I can talk to my family, and also our team ZOOM calls, without bothering Joe. These are also fabulous at drowning out Joe. He likes to listen to shows at night while I am trying to write and it is very distracting. So, I slip these in and then find some soothing music on YouTube. It works like a charm. So….if you are wanting to tune your husband out, these are a great purchase. Lol!!! I’ll link to my Airpods and also to another wireless Bluetooth earbud that has good reviews and a ton of orders.

The chunky knit cardigan that I am wearing was one that I showed you in my Loft try-on (here) a couple of weeks ago. I know that a lot of you loved this cardigan, and so did I. The material and the color were so unique, and I couldn’t wait to show you how good it looked with the floral blouse. I hope that you were smart and grabbed this when I showed it to you the other day because it is all sold out online. I hate it when that happens, but you have to realize that a lot of people are also looking at the same item. But, you know that I tried to find some similar options for you. So, I hope you like one of the links below.

It might not be “officially” spring yet, but I am still wearing my white pants. I wear white pants all year round, but I know that we all grew up in the age where it was a HUGE fashion no-no to wear white before Memorial Day. The first time that I wore white outside of the Memorial Day to Labor Day timeline, I kept waiting for the fashion police to show up and take me away. I survived the day, and I realized that I had been limiting myself unnecessarily all along.
If you are ready to walk on the wild side and wear a pair of white jeans, then you will want to grab this pair of chewed hem jeans from Loft. I showed these to you in the pt.1 Loft try-on session here. The frayed hemline looks modern without having a lot of distressing, so these will work for a lot of you. They call these slimming jeans and I know that they fit great, even though I am not sure at the slimming part. Some of you asked during my try-on session if I ordered the modern or curvy style; I ordered the modern style. I am wearing a size 30 in these which is the same thing as a size 10. These jeans come in Regular, Petite, Plus, and Tall sizes, so there should be something for everybody. I think they fit true to size, so ordering your usual size should work for you. Here is the link to the jeans.
I hope all of you try to keep things as normal as possible. I think that following normal routines (the ones that you can) is important during times like these. It will give your life a feeling of normalcy, and that is something that we all need right now. Utilize grocery delivery/pickup services, watch online church services, shop online, and talk on the phone or facetime to loved ones. Try to limit interaction with people as much as possible. For those who have to leave the home to work, use precaution. Remember, you are not only trying to protect yourself but also everyone that you come in contact with later.
Let’s play a game of “Tell me a Joke.” It will give everyone a good laugh, and the one that I think is the funniest will get a surprise in the mail from me. I’ll start with a fashion one…what do cows most like to read? Cattle-logs. ?

James 4:8
8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Love your post…I’m soon to be 68, working on aging “classy”!
HaHa! Thanks for the yokes everyone!
Love the sweater coat.
My joke: I use to be addicted to the Hokey Pokey, but I turned myself around! LOL!
THAT is a gorgeous outfit!
Here’s another joke, from my husband this time! Why couldn’t the bike stand up? It was 2 tired! Get it? 2 tires!!
Beautiful combo of colors on you!
My daughter told this joke when we were at Disney years ago, and got to go down the water slide first–but then it took her 20 minutes because she was scared! Now, for the joke: What did the bee go to the Doctor? HIVES! Ha ha ha, hee hee hee,….
Happy belated birthday to Joe! This outfit looks so pretty and Spring like on you. What’s Irish and stays outside all year? Patty O’Furniture 😉
Hi Tania, Enjoy your blog and positive outlook today on color! We have Trader Joe’s daffodils brightening our indoor living space!!
Here’s my joke… aaaaaahh!!! What do you call a designer jacket??!!! The Real Blazer ??
The first couple of photos really show how the long sweater can elongate, if you wear it with a tucked in blouse and jeans! I don’t know how everyone wears white jeans, but I could only do it for a night out. I am an artist, have a black cat, and a playful dog, not to mention clumsy, so I always get them dirty.
Did someone mention Easter? What do you call a group of rabbits hopping away? A receding Hare Line!
Good reminder to wear some color as I am wearing grey today. My phone died so my alarm didn’t go off this morning so was running late. Happy Birthday to Joe!
Why shouldn’t you tell an Easter egg a joke?
It might crack up!
A pessimist and an optimist were having a conversation and the pessimist says, “Things are so bad they could never get worse!” The optimist smiles and says, “Of course they can!” Keep your chin up and your red lipstick on, ladies! Happy Belated Birthday to Joe!
Haha…loving all the jokes!! ???
What do you call cheese that is not yours? Nacho Cheese! Thank you for the fun and refreshing blog post!
Why do golfers wear two pairs of pants? In case they get a hole in one. (this one’s for Joe!)
I love the sweater wish I had purchased when you showed it – that will teach me 🙂
I love your outfit!! Thanks for bringing fashion sense and fun to us, we all need to laugh. And a Happy Belated Birthday to your man♡
When does a joke become a “dad joke”?
When the punchline is a parent.
Q: What did the duck say when he bought lipstick?
A: “Put it on my bill.”
Really love the cheerful outfit! Old joke from the grandkids… Two hats hanging on a rack…one says to the other “I’ll stay here, you go on aHead!!!!”
If a child refuses to sleep during nap time are they resisting arrest? I am sure this could be re-worded and turned into a joke. If you smiled, I did my job ? Bring on the jokes everyone, we all could use some laughter right now. P.S. cute outfit, but we received a couple inches of snow over the weekend, so no white for me yet…well at least not in pants or shoes. ?
Does this blouse shrink?
What a pretty outfit! The colors lol beautiful on you. I also grew up hearing you can’t wear white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day and I followed that “rule”…not any more! Life is too short, wear what you like, when you like! I love your idea of wearing bright colors. It does make you feel better, no matter what is going on in the news. I am in Massachusetts, the spring flowers have a ways to go before they bloom. Everything outside is a dreary gray or brown…but at least the sun is shining! Hoping you and your family stay healthy!❤️
What a pretty outfit Tania! It does look bright and springy. The white pants really do lighten up the whole outfit. Happy belated birthday to Joe!! Stay well.
I grew up with the rule”No white before Easter”; not Memorial Day, and , of course, not after Labor Day. My grandmother and mother were quite strict about that!!! I love your outfit and that color sweater looks so pretty with the blouse.
Please share the lemon pound cake recipe!
What do you call a cow with no legs? Ground beef! Ha ha! Had to share a cheesy dad joke. Love reading your blog. Finally got signed up. Yay!
Happy belated Birthday to Joe! Well I think I will lose some pounds as we don t go out for dinner this month! And probably in April neither! So…..waiter: how do you like your steak sir? Sir: like winning an argument with my wife. Waiter: rare it is!
Hahaha! That was a good joke. I hadn’t heard that before. It is good to start my day off with a smile!
What did one eye say to the other? Between the two of us, something smells.
