HOW TO STAY STYLISH IN RAINY WEATHER

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing her rainy weather style of a pair of white jeans with a tan striped top and a red trench coatThe rains have started again in Virginia, and if they don’t stop soon, I am going to start building a boat. I think this would be a great time to show everyone my rainy weather style.

Joe and I needed to drive to Abingdon to an appointment, and it rained on us the entire day.  We decided to apply for our TSA PreCheck so that when we fly, we won’t have to take everything out of our bags and take off our shoes. As an added plus, sometimes the PreCheck lines are smaller and don’t take so long to get checked in. Because we live in the Boonies, we had to drive 1 1/2 hours to be fingerprinted and show our passports.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing her rainy weather style of a pair of white jeans with a striped top and a red trench coatI knew the vicinity of where I was going, but I didn’t know precisely the building, etc. When we pulled up to the address, it was the DMV office. Joe immediately started cussing because he said that we would be there all day long. After we drove around the parking lot THREE times, we finally found a parking spot. We walked inside, and there were about 15-20 people in line. The cussing started up again, and the young man in front of us agreed with him. We were there for about 10 minutes and never moved at all. Some lady in front of us must have been having an issue because it was taking forever.

Then, the door on the other side of the room opened up, and a woman called for Joe and Tania Stephens to come with her. The guy in front of us mumbled something about us being lucky dogs as we walked off. Lol! Since we weren’t there for a DMV problem, they didn’t make us register even though they told us that we had to when we first got there. It didn’t take 5 minutes each, and when we left the building, the line was still backed up to the door, which is exactly why I do as much of my DMV business online that I can. Whew, I would hate to work there because you know that people are frustrated by the time they get to talk to someone.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a tan striped top and a red trench coatThis adorable trench coat that I showed you in this post is perfect for the yucky rainy weather. It is lightweight and not bulky, so traveling all day in the coat was comfortable. It doesn’t have a hood like a rain jacket, but I prefer to carry an umbrella so that my hair doesn’t get flattened. The bright cranberry color will at least brighten your day as well as your attitude. I should have made Joe wear this coat. Haha! I am wearing a size large so that it can fit over a sweater and I think that it fits me nicely.

The length of the coat is one that I like, and also the double-breasted style. This coat is not lined, so it is lightweight, like I mentioned earlier. The coat is from Talbots, and they are having a 25% off new arrivals with the code FAST. Here is the link to the coat, and I found a few more that you will also like.

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a pair of gold hoop earring from Kendra Scott and a red trench coat

The gold necklace that I am wearing is an old one that I bought from Plunder Design. This is no longer on the website and has been discontinued.

I have on a pair of Kendra Scott earrings that were a free item. They had a sale a couple of weeks ago that said if you buy “this” amount, then you got a pair of free earrings. I love the geometric style, and I found a couple of other earrings that had a similar design that I’ll link to below. The cuff bracelet is one that I am loving. It is called the Fallyn, and I love the entwined design. I put this on, and then I squeeze it tight on my wrist to make sure that it doesn’t fall off. It is way too pretty to lose. Here is the link to the cuff.

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a pair of white jeans with a tan striped top and a cranberry red trench coatThe scoop neck striped tank top is also on the 25% off new arrival sale. The tank is a cotton blend with a small amount of spandex. I am wearing a medium in the tank because I want to wear it as a layering piece. If I was going to wear it by itself, without a cardigan or a jacket, then I might size up to a large. The top also comes in different colored stripes if the tan is not to your liking. Here is the link to the tank.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is showing the back of a red trench coatI mentioned in my try-on post, that when I don’t want to wear the belt around my waist that I will tie it in the back. It might not look the best from the rear, but I like the effect that it gives in the front.

The pants that I am wearing is a pair of white jeans that I have had for a couple of years. I mainly put them on to see if I could fit in them. Lol! I generally try to update my white clothing every couple of years to keep them looking white and stain free. Chico’s has a stain-free line of white clothing, but I haven’t tried them yet. If you’ve tried this line, please let us know how it works. I mentioned in yesterday’s post (here) that I do the “test” to see if they are see-through. Here is what I do; I put my hand inside the pants, and if I can see my hand clearly, then I pass on the pants. I hope that helps some of you to understand what I meant.

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a pair of white jeans with a tan striped top and a red trench coat with Sperry sneakersI wanted to give you two different looks for the shoes. The first look is these Sperry pull-on sneakers. I love that you don’t have to tie the leather laces, and instead, you can pull these on for easy access. Here is the link to the Sperry sneakers.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is wearing a pair of white jeans with a tan striped top and a red trench coat and a pair of Michael Kors ballet flatsAnd, for a different look, I added the Michael Kors monogram ballet flats. I bought these last year, and I couldn’t find them on the website. However, these two below are the same flat; the print is just a little different.

Be sure to let me know if you’ve tried the Chico’s no-stain clothing before, and also tell which pair of shoes you like best with this look.

On Another Note –

As most of you know, my sister is an award-winning author. What you may not know is that every year she holds a short-story writing contest for middle-schoolers! If you know anyone in the 10-13 age range who likes to write, send them to her website for all of the details. Did I mention there is $600.00 in prize money? But they need to act fast. The contest ends at midnight this Friday. I’ve had the grandchildren of gurls win in the past, so good luck!

  3. Kelly Palmer says:

I love this outfit! That jacket looks so bright and cheery on you 🙂 My favorite is with the Sperry sneakers.

  4. What a happy look. If I owned that cost, I would pray for rain. I gave a sensible tan and a blue gray trench so I can’t afford to splurge but if I could, I wouldn’t love this cost. I like the idea of both shoes. Sperry is a favorite of mine but those flats are so cute. It would depend on whether I was going “to town” or around our small community which pair I would wear.

LOVE everything about this outfit! I might consider wearing tan or red shoes as well. I wore a white top to Santa Fe a couple days ago, celebrating our 35th anniversary :-0. If anyone would have asked about the white, I would have directed them to your post 😉 Wasn’t too worried, you can wear anything in Santa Fe! My husband “grumbled” a lot too, the last time we had to go to the DMV, feel your pain 😉

  6. I love this outfit and the trench. It’s still Valentines looking (yes I know we’re past that) and it’s cheery looking.
I love your right hand ring too. It’s beautiful.

    1. I like cheery clothing, especially on dreary days. That ring is a black opal that Joe bought me for our 10 year anniversary.

  7. I love your outfit. The jacket is my favorite. What mascara do you wear? I am over 50 and my lashes need help. Your lashes look great!

    1. Amy, I use They’re Real by Benefit, but the reason my lashes look so good is because of Lash Boost. I’ll message you about it.

  8. Love this outfit. Totally something I would wear. Thanks for shopping Talbots, not a lot of bloggers do that – appreciate it!

    1. I love Talbots clothing. It is a great quality that will last you for years. Plus, it is stylish and timeless clothing.

  9. Looking great! I just love how we are now wearing white in winter!!

I’m dying to wear white pants (just bought a new pair yesterday). After a lifetime of “never wear white before Easter”, it’s hard to let go!

  10. I haven’t heard of stain proof pants, cause the first thing I was thinking white in rain not a good mix. I will have too check those pants out!

    1. I love the idea of stain proof or resistant pants. It sounds so smart!

  11. I would need snow boots with my outfit. We had another 5 inches of snow on Monday. I would love to wear the ballet flats with this outfit.

    1. Wow! Five inches of snow sounds like a lot! Stay warm!

  12. Love this outfit and would LOVE to have that trench coat but I just purchased the coated rain jacket from Talbots (on sale) in the aqua blue color and love it. At least it has a hood IF I ever want to use it. I hear ya on the rain! We were WAY over normal last year for rainfall here in OK and are already twice as much over normal for this time of year! Shall we build an ark??

    1. I am holding off on starting the Ark for now…but I might be buying in some supplies. Lol!

  13. Janet Williams says:

I only wish it was warm enough to wear this cheery outfit! It’s 13 degrees Celsius – 8.6 degrees Fahrenheit.?
