What If This Year Was Different
Happy New Year’s Eve! Today is the last day of the year, and tomorrow will be the beginning of 2024. I love this time of the year because it is filled with hope and promises for the future. Sunday is always followed by Monday, but this Monday is different…it is time for a change, a reset, a new way of life.
I’ve heard that what you do on the first day of the new year is what you will do for the rest of the year. You and I both know that isn’t true because most resolutions only last a few weeks. But, what if…what if this year was different?
What if the minute the time ticked over to 12:01 A.M., everything was different? What would you change? Would you change things for health reasons? Maybe you would change things for financial reasons? Many of you might want to see changes in your relationships.
Here is the thing, go get a mirror and look in it because the person looking back at you is what has to change. Your choices are sometimes the reason for failing health. There are some diseases that are not caused by poor food choices, alcohol consumption, drug use, tobacco, or lack of exercise, but a lot of them are.
Our financial woes might be because of an employer that shuts down or an economy we can’t control, but a lot of time, it is because we make poor decisions on what we spend our money on.
When it comes to relationships, we might need to set boundaries. Everyone doesn’t deserve to have access to your life, and setting boundaries can be useful for relationships.
2 Corinthians 5:17-18
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
The beginning of a new year happens only once a year. We don’t have to wait until the beginning of a new year or the first day of the week to experience a life-altering change. When we give our lives to Christ, we become a new person. The old has gone, the new is here!
This new person is filled with hope and promises of the person we want to become. More generous, more loving, more forgiving, more spiritual, more like Christ. We pray, we read our Bibles, and we strive to bring others to Him.
New Year’s resolutions and giving our lives to Christ both have something in common. They both take work. Wanting, wishing, hoping, etc., doesn’t change anything very long. It takes discipline, consistency, and a deep desire to bring about change.
Today is Sunday, and tomorrow is another chance for a reset. Look in the mirror and ask the person looking back at you if this is going to be the year when the old has gone and the new is here.
To GOD Goes the Glory!
Have A Blessed Day!
Tania,
I read your post and copied some of your outfits about 4 or 5 years ago. I recently found you again and realized how much I miss your input about fashion.
But, what I really want to know is how did you lose the weight? You look great.
Looking forward to your future post in 2024.

PS I was born and raised in Tennessee also. A little place(back then not now) called Mt. Juliet. It’s just on the skirt of Nashville.
Happy New Year! Great post!
Isaiah 43:18-19
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
Blessings upon blessings be yours in 2024!
What a beautiful lesson for our New Year! Thank you, & may you have a very healthy, blessed New Year! You look more beautiful than ever, Tania!

I enjoy reading your posts every day! They are light and fun and although I can’t afford to buy new, your fashion style encourages me to try new and fun outfits (I thrift or remake) because 50+ is not old!! I am in the process of losing weight and clothes have become a source of fun for this Mama/Grammy! Thanks for sharing!

Happy New Year 2024. Thank you for saying the most important change we can have for the new year. Our relationship with Jesus. Many blessings to you and Joe
Your message made me think of Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror”:
I’m starting with the man in the mirror.
I’m asking him to change his ways.
And no message could have been any clearer.
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Well said! Happy New Year.

Happy New Year Tania. I love your post. Yes, this is my new year 2024. I will be retiring on May 10, 2024 my 14 years anniversary. My word is Patient!
Well said, Tania. Happy New Year to you and your family!
Your words resonate comfortably within my mind. Now, and everyday I look to be inspired; and that leads to good choices. Thank you, Tania, for this well-written message!
“Look in the mirror” and “consistency” are exactly what I needed to hear. Happy New Year, Tania!
Hi Tanya
Thank you for this message. I love reset and do make resolutions. This year on June 1st I began Fitness Bingo. I put things I wanted to accomplish weekly on a chart and crossed them off when I’d completed them. (Like playing blackout Bingo). No I was never 100% perfect but you know what? A lot of progress happened, I got stronger and fitter and felt so much better! I’ve already made my fitness bingo chart for the first week of 2024. My word for the year is Progress, because I want to take action to reach my goals. Your blog is about hope! We should have hope for a brighter tomorrow and do our part to make it happen.
It is great to have progress over perfection. Every day can be the start of a new reset.
What a wonderful post! Thank you.
Great reminder for us, Tania! HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Perfectly written! Looking forward to 2024! Wishing you the best!
A good down to earth message this morning!

Good message.
Happy New Year Tania! Such a great message and a new way for me to look at the new year. Thank you!
Happy New Year!!! Excellent post!!!
January 1 is my favorite day of the year. I don’t make NY resolutions anymore ( what’s the point?! I rarely keep them beyond a few weeks!). I do set one or two achievable goals and this has been fairly easy the past few years. I no longer set myself up for failure by setting my goals too high.
Wishing you and your family a healthy, happy New Year.
Happy new year! I plan to find much joy in 2024.
Good Morning Tania…… I was scrolling thru pinterest and came across YOU!!! What a perfect time for me. I’m praying this year brings happiness and joy and a time of new beginnings. YOU are a breath of fresh air and I feel it is “catching”!!! Thanks again for being YOU and caring about others….. ME!!
Welcome!I’m so glad you found your way to the blog.
Happy New Year! I always love the beginning of a new year. I quit doing resolutions and starting finding a word for my year. Once I have my word then I make it into an acronym and then a bible verse to go with the word.
I hope that your year is full of joy, love and laughter!
Yes! Only YOU have the power to change your life and it much easier if you are filled with the Holy Spirit! My word is intentional. My goal is to be more intentional with my words, choices, and actions in hopes to impact my little piece of the world to His glory. Thank you for your fun inspiring posts! Happy 2024!!
That’s a great word!
I love this post!
Happy New Year! Having faith is what gets us thru everything that is going on in our lives. Thank you Lord Jesus.
Your words of wisdom are profound! I love everything about your post and fully understand exactly ….thank you for sharing!
So true and so well stated. We are responsible for much of our own happiness. And with Christ, we can do great things.
Thank you for the reminder that our relationship with Jesus is reciprocal. We need to put forth effort to study His word and apply those words to our lives. Happy New Year’s Eve!
Amen! Well said, have a wounder NEW Year!
I love this! It does take work and that’s the reminder I needed. I got lazy during the last part of the year, with work and church. Time to reset. Happy New Year!
Amen, my word for 2024 is happy try to do as many things that make me happy!
Wow, this spoke to me! ‘Look in the mirror’ is so true. Thank you for speaking the truth! Happy New Year Tania!
I’m excited about the new year! My word for the year is Impactful. The Holy Spirit gave me that word and that’s my goal for 2024…I want to be impactful for the kingdom.
To God be the glory!
That is a wonderful word!
Amen! Happy New Year!
God bless you, Tania, and all your family. You are so right about the new year, and resetting ourselves.
Reset is what I need for 2024. After losing my husband very unexpectedly in 2020, I need a reset. He was only 59. We never got to see our dreams of retiring and enjoying life. Gives me a new perspective on life now.
Happy New Year.
Laura, I am so sorry. That is the problem with putting things off for another day. We aren’t promised more days.
Great reminder!
Wonderfully and perfectly put. Thank you for the reminder.
Great post! Happy New year!
Have a blessed Happy New Year!

Good thoughts to challenge us and stir us to action instead of reaction. May God bless you in the New Year and your beautiful family.
Love your message! Wishing you a wonderful and blessed New Year!
