What I Bought Versus What I’m Keeping From The NSale
I buy a lot of clothing! Almost everything I buy is online since there aren’t many stores near me. I can’t keep everything, and a lot of the clothing is returned for various reasons. Some things don’t fit me right, and the size I bought can be off. Other times, the colors look different in person or don’t go great with my complexion. If the item fits and looks good on me, then I have to decide if I will have the opportunity to wear it enough to warrant the purchase. I end up keeping waaaay more than I probably should. So, today, I’m sharing what I bought versus what I’m keeping from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale ends tomorrow night, so I wanted to make sure you had one more time to grab your favorites at a discounted price. I use the sale to buy from brands I love but don’t like paying the full purchase price, and prices will go back up on the 5th. I may not have champagne taste on a beer budget, but it is definitely on a wine budget. Lol!
Here is a new purchase from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’m still buying items, and the Caslon® Drawstring Wide Leg Chambray Pants are already a favorite, even though this is the first time I tried them on. I mentioned them in my Best Pants To Wear To Survive The Heat post and ordered them for myself.
The pants are lightweight, flowy, have pockets, are comfortable, and look amazing. Plus, they are on sale for under $45. The only negative is that they are long. I’m 5’6″ tall and wear a 32″ inseam, and I need to wear a heel with these. Maybe I just got a tall size by accident.
The With Ease Tee is not from Nordstrom, but I knew you would want the links. This is an oversized, very soft, and comfy tee.
I’m keeping this entire outfit from head to toe! It is a winner in my book!!!
What I Bought Versus What I’m Keeping
This outfit was in my Fabulous Finds From Nordstrom That You Can Buy Now post. You can read more about all the items there. For this look, I’m keeping all of it. The only item that I’m on the fence about is the Rebecca Minkoff Leather Tote. I love the handbag, but I’m not sure I would carry it enough since I don’t work outside the home. But, dang…it sure looks sharp! You can read about this outfit here.
It might have been easier to say what I’m not keeping. Lol! I’m keeping this entire outfit! Someone asked if long cardigans are going to be trending this year, and I have no idea. There are some items I love wearing, and they look great on me, so I don’t care if they are trending. What do you think about this outfit? You can read about this outfit here.
This is a maybe. Yes, I intend to keep these Barefoot Dreams knit pajamas, but I’m not sure I’m keeping this exact pair. I’ve ordered a medium to see if it will fit better, and they will arrive on Monday. This pair seems a tiny bit too big, but I’ll decide which set I’m keeping once the other ones arrive. You can read about this outfit here.
We have finally found an outfit that includes items I’m sending back. I plan on keeping the Quilted Suede and leather Shoulder Bag and the Pointed-Toe Pumps, but the Eileen Fisher T-shirt and wide-leg pants are going back. I don’t find them flattering enough to justify the purchase. You can read all the details of the look here.
This outfit is a mixture of keeping and returning. I’m definitely keeping the long-sleeve T-shirt, Barefoot Dreams cardigan, and Loafer Mules. The Longchamp Expandable Recycled Nylon Tote is going back because I already own something similar and wouldn’t use this one enough. I’m undecided about the Slim Straight Leg Jeans since I already own a pair of Mother jeans in this exact color. Would I really wear these enough??? You can read all the details of the look here.
I’m keeping all the jewelry and the Clear Strap Wedge Shoes and Leather Small Allington Tote. Like the Blackberry Eileen Fisher outfit above, I don’t find this style particularly flattering on me. It is comfy and feels great, but I don’t think I would wear it enough. You can read all the details of the look here.
What I Bought Versus What I’m Keeping
The V-Neck T-Shirt is going back, but I’m keeping everything else. I kept the AllSaints Cotton Crop T-Shirt in white and black, so I couldn’t justify buying this one. The Denim Skirt is versatile, and I think I’ll wear it a lot this fall, so it is staying. It is also super soft and stretchy, and it looks and fits great. You can read about this outfit here.
I’m keeping the Cashmere Sweater, but the Pleated Midi Skirt is going back. I can’t see myself wearing this enough since I don’t have any upcoming events, and I hate to just keep it hanging in the closet. This is a hard one to send back since I think it is GORGEOUS! You can read about this outfit here.
This outfit is a keeper from head to toe! I love the sweater, and I bought it in two colors. The jeans fit great, and I like the light-wash look. The Franco Sarto Booties are a great neutral for fall, and I like the 2″ kitten heel. I sized down a 1/2 size in these, so remember that if you are between sizes. You can read about this outfit here.
I’m keeping the long-sleeve T-shirt since I don’t have one in my closet. I’ll also keep the loafers, which are a great summer-to-fall transition shoe. When the weather starts to cool off, you want to have your toes covered. These mules will keep your foot cool since the back is open, so they are the best of both worlds. You can read about this outfit here.
I’m keeping the Vince Short Sleeve Wool & Cashmere Sweater, which I also bought in the color Nile. I bought this same sweater last year in black and burgundy, so you can tell I love it. I’m also keeping the Tote and Slingback Pumps. The Straight Leg Jeans are a smidge too big for me, and the next size down has sold out. I hate to, but I’m sending these back. If they don’t fit correctly, I won’t wear them. You can read about this outfit here. I didn’t end up buying the sunglasses, so they don’t have to be returned.
What I Bought Versus What I’m Keeping
It’s a KEEPER!!! I love everything about this outfit. The tee is a great weight and not see-through, the cardigan is a fabulous neutral color, and the wide-leg jeans are the perfect width. You can read about this outfit here.
This will probably be going back. I like the cable knit design and the color of the set, but I have a similar sweater set, and I can’t justify having both. You can read about this outfit here.
The jumpsuit is going back, but the Double Breasted Belted Coat and pumps are staying. This coat is gorgeous, and I love the red, but it is also available in several other colors. You can read about this outfit here.
Everyone loved this dress on me, including me. BUT, I don’t think I’ll wear it enough to keep it. The dress fits me great and is of nice quality. I’m undecided about the boots, but the dress is going. You can read about this outfit here.
The only thing I’m on the fence about is the Straight Leg Pants. They look great in this photo, but I thought they were too big on me when I looked in the mirror. I’m going to have to try them on again and make a decision. The rest of the outfit stays! You can read about this outfit here.
I love everything about this outfit. I’ve owned these jeans for years, and I still wear them a lot. The Varley sheer top is gorgeous, but you’ll need a cami or tank underneath. The color I’m wearing is no longer in stock, but I linked to the exact same sweater in almost the exact same color. The sweater does run big, but I like the oversized look.
The Beauty Items I’m Keeping
This is a keeper!!! I’ve been using this almost every day since I bought it. I don’t care for the tubular mascara because I don’t like that kind of mascara. But, for the most part, I love all the items included in this Makeup Planner. You can read about all the beauty products here.
I’m loving this set by Bobbi Brown. The eyeshadow palette has beautiful shades, and the shadows stay put. I’ve only used the mascara once or twice since I’m using one from the planner above.
I use this set daily! The brow get is the best I’ve found, and the hairs on my brows stay put. This is especially useful for days I’m taking photos and pulling shirts over my head a lot.
I’m keeping this set even though I’ve not yet opened it. I use Fix+ Setting Spray, and I have for years. I already have a bottle that I’m using, so I haven’t opened this one yet…but I will!
I kept this Eyeshadow Trio and sent back a different set. This set is the shades I like for my blue eyes, and the shadows stay put the entire day.
I love it when Joe ends up using my products! My skin is extremely, so I love an exfoliating soap. This one is gentle, but has enough grit to it to exfoliate the dead skin. Joe used it a time or two and pronounced it a keeper. He loves the way it lathers, and I love the exfoliation, so it is a keeper.
I’ve been using this, and Joe noticed my teeth starting to look whiter. He asked what I was doing, and guess who is also using it now. Lol! I ordered more whitening strips since he had decided to use this also. I love the fact that the device only takes 5 minutes and that the strips are dissolvable. Because they are dissolvable, they will stick to your lips when you first put them on. Just use your tongue to wet them and insert the tray, then you’ll be fine.
Joe loves this product, too. He is sooo funny about some things. He wants the house to smell good, but he doesn’t like candles. This has been a good compromise, and the diffuser smells great and looks gorgeous.
There are more items than this that I kept, but I’m sure you are already worn out and ready to place your order before everything sells out. Good luck, and don’t forget that the prices will go back up on Monday the 5th!

You look great in bright pink!
I just found your blog— it was so fun to see what stayed and what left the building!! lol. The nearest shopping is at the closest 1 hour away so I online shop sometimes too. And sometimes I just shop in my closet— I’ll start pulling stuff out and voila a “new” outfit appears!!
Welcome, I hope you’re enjoying the blog.
I enjoyed reading about the items you are not keeping and the reasoning. I am in the process of purging my closet because it is stuffed and there are numerous things that I have not worn this summer. There are also things that I loved when I bought them, but for one reason or another, I no longer love them. As a matter of fact, I hate walking in my closet due to it being packed. Not a good feeling, especially when there are so many people out there that don’t have 1/3 of what I have.
Love the jacket and the blue sweater set. You look fabulous in all of the these. Do you have some new weight loss plan to share?
Everyone keeps asking that, but I’ve actually gained some weight. I can’t figure it out.
Love seeing all the different styles of jeans in particular. Like you I have few stores near me and do a lot of shopping online donuts nice to see your selections and the reasons you decided for or against.
Totally appreciate the way you show all the fashion styles for us ladies! I almost feel you are one of my friends showing me outfits for me to wear. MC
