This is what 60 looks like!!! I have to admit that when I was in my 40s, I would have thought that 60 was OLD. I mean, the kind of old where you are wearing a shawl around your shoulders and sitting around knitting an afghan while wondering where you put your teeth. I thought that life was over by that age and all that you had to look forward to was spoiling your grandchildren. No more parties or traveling, no wearing bathing suits or even getting in a swimming pool, no more sex (that was a picture that I didn’t want in my head), basically, no more fun. ?
I hope that gave all of you a chuckle because we now know that is no where near the truth. Yes, I have jello arms (thanks Emersyn), and age spots (thanks to tanning in my younger years), but, I also love traveling, swimming (with a bathing suit on), and spoiling my grandchildren. It looks like I was at least right about the spoiling the grandchildren part. I look forward to the next 60 years (hey, longevity runs in my family) and I can’t wait to see what twists and turns lies ahead. Raise your glass…life is good!!!
You knew that I was going to dress up for my birthday! I decided that the evening gown that I had picked out might have been a little over the top, so I settled on my favorite style for a dress instead. I love sheath dresses because they flatter my shape, or I probably should say, my LACK of a shape. I am built like a ruler, and I am straight up and down with no real curves. So, to create curves visually, I rely on blazers and cardigans (HERE), or items that create an illusion (HERE) of a waist. A sheath dress is a slim cut dress that is still loose enough to hide many of your flaws. It fits tighter under your chest and then falls straight down. This style dress looks good on most body types including those like me, those who are bigger on the top, and those who are bigger on the bottom. It is the closest thing to being a universally flattering dress that there is.
I kept my jewelry simple today since the ruffled neckline of the dress was the star of the show. My AVI silver hoop earring has been a favorite of mine since I bought them at the end of last year. These hoops are large, and they make a big statement. I loved them so much that I bought them in gold also. Lol! Kendra Scott is having a buy one pair of earrings and get another pair 40% off today. Of course, like all stores, the lesser priced item will be the one that gets the 40% taken off. However, if you buy two of these, you are going to save right at 40.00. Isn’t that how we tell our husbands, what we save and not what we spent? Lol!!! You can also see the dainty Rue cuff bracelet that I wear a lot. It is easy to slip on and take off, and it adds just a tiny bit of elegance to every outfit. HERE is the link to the bracelet.
How about adding a pop of color to this outfit? Sometimes I feel like adding a “POP” and other times I like keeping things neutral. I debated wearing navy shoes, white shoes, or neutral colored shoes, but in the end, the red won my heart. It might be time for me to embrace the sassy side of my life. These red pumps are by Michael Kors, and I’ve owned them for a long time. This red color is sold out, but a gorgeous bright pink color is available and they are on sale for 63.00! Those would sure add a POP to any outfit. HERE is the link to those, plus I’ll link a few other red pumps below.
Finally, my dress!!! It is an Eliza J dress, and I am a huge fan of Eliza J. I am wearing my usual size 12 in this dress, and it fits me like a dream. HERE is the link to this dress. Here is a dress that I wore to Cancun from ELiza J. that I LOVED, and here is a striped one that I think might have gone with me there also. I love the deep navy color of this dress, but it is the blue and white striped ruffle neckline that pushed me over the edge. Joe is not a fan of the ruffle neckline, but he is CRAZY! This is such a flattering neckline, and he can just get over it because I am wearing it anyway. I took a hot pink dress (HERE) like this with us to Cancun, and after he rolled his eyes and told me that he hated the dress, I ended up changing. BUT, I wish that I had worn the pink dress because I love it, and I feel pretty when I wear it, so there…

13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Happy Birthday!!! You look amazing! And I love the way you are owning 60! I found myself being a little shy about it and not wanting to admit it but ya know…I look pretty good for my age so why not! I’m going to follow in your footsteps, even though I’m 6 months ahead of you. Have a wonderful birthday week!
Happy Birthday!! I just started following you a few months ago and I think your blog and Instagram stories are great!! My most memorable birthday was my 40th – my mother passed away 1 month before and my young kids planned a surprise party (with the help of my siblings). It was very special!
Happy birthday, Tania!! My most memorable birthday was my 50th. My hubby thought he was pulling a surprise party on me but I had accidentally seen the invitation so it wasn’t really a surprise!! What was surprising was how many people were there!! I loved it!!
My best birthday memory happened in May last year. It was my 60th and my kids, husband and my sisters shocked me with a surprise birthday party in our back yard. Plenty of food, drinks, Mexican themed decorations and dancing music. I couldn’t stop laughing at the joy I felt to see all my family and friends there. Sixty is wonderful so enjoy your Birthday Tania!
I’m with ya Tania… I use to think 60 was ancient… not so much any more. I always downplay my birthdays… never liked the attention. My family has given up trying to plan celebrations.
Happy Birthday Sweet Tania ???
