THE MOST EXPENSIVE GIFT EVER GIVEN
What’s the most expensive gift you’ve ever been given? When you start thinking about gifts, most of us think about jewelry, clothing, vacations, or maybe cars or homes. I’ve been on the receiving end of expensive gifts and trips, and when you receive a gift like that, you get so excited.
Some gifts aren’t expensive, and some are free, but that doesn’t mean you don’t cherish those gifts. I bet every one of you has received a handmade gift from someone you love that means as much as a diamond ring. I remember when my youngest child went to one of those book fairs at school. I always sent money with them so that they could buy books to read and small gifts. He came home with a gold rope bracelet and couldn’t wait to give it to me. He was so proud of his gift, and I wore it every day. However, it wasn’t long before the bracelet tarnished and turned my arm green. I didn’t want him to be disappointed, so I bought a 14 Kt. rope bracelet that looked identical, and I wore it daily. I put the original bracelet he gave me away for safekeeping, and I still have it 25 years later.
The cost of a gift is not what makes it special. The heart of the person giving the gift is what makes it special. Love is a precious gift, and it can’t be bought.
Ephesians 2:4-5
4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.
Easter was last week, and everyone celebrated the fact that Jesus rose from the dead. Jesus loved us so much that He sacrificed Himself on the cross so that we could have eternal salvation. His gift of grace was the most expensive gift ever given, but we have to receive it.
2 Timothy 1:9
9 He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,
When anyone gives you something, you have to reach out to take the gift. You have to open the gift and take possession of it to make it yours. The same is true of the incredible gift that Jesus gave each of us; we have to accept His gift, open it, and take possession of it to truly receive it.
Today, take a few minutes to thank the Lord for His sacrifice. Thank Him for the grace that He gave to us. He paid a high price for this gift, so accept and open His gift, then bask in His love!
To God Goes The Glory!
Have A Blessed Day!
