The Best Workout Clothes For Women Over 50

Gurls, today I’m sharing about the best workout clothes for women over 50, but before I begin, I want to talk about my “why.” Why workout clothes? Why workout? If you think it’s all about appearance, you might be in for a surprise. 🙂

I’ve been thinking about my grandparents a lot lately. My grandmother, Lucille, died in her early fifties from a heart issue. My grandfather died a few years ago at the ripe old age of 103! I have such fond memories of them, and it made me think about my own grandchildren and what their memories of me will be.

Having them visit me is so much fun, and we spend a lot of time together doing fun things. I have a reason for this walk down memory lane, Lol. I started this blog to help women look and feel their best. When I talk about working out or dieting, I’m not trying to be a size 2. I think you’ve been seeing my pictures for years, so you know that’s probably not possible! But I do want to be healthy and mobile for as long as I can so that I can shop and play and run around with the people I love. Whether you buy any of these cute clothes or just throw on a pair of sweatpants from your dirty clothes hamper, I hope you’ll take the time to do something for yourself and your health.

The Best Workout Clothes for Women over 50 – Pants

LOVE. These are moisture-wicking and are made from compression fabric – thank you! They have POCKETS. I might be working out, but that doesn’t mean I don’t need my phone near me. Lol! I love that the print would go with so many different color tops.

Don’t these look comfortable?? I think these would be so nice for walking around the neighborhood. Of course, they have pockets! They’re a nice alternative for those of you who don’t like to wear tight leggings out in public.

You can never have too many pairs of yoga pants! These are high-waisted and have POCKETS, and come in a variety of colors. Traditional yoga pants are usually flared, so these break the mold in that they’re boot-cut. They have great reviews and are just $30 dollars!

For those of you who are serious about your workouts! I think these would be great for running, workout classes, or even as traditional pants. As the weather gets cooler these would be a good option to wear by themselves or under a cute tennis or pickleball skirt.

Another comfortable pair of workout pants that would be great for walking, laying on the floor, and working those abs (ha!). Gurls, these have a rating of 4.3 stars, have been reviewed over NINETEEN THOUSAND times, and are under $25 dollars!

The Best Workout Clothes for Women over 50 – Tops

I love the look of a racerback tank. The one pictured is in sage green, a trending color, but it’s also available in a great hot pink. It has a nice breathable mesh back also to help you keep cool.

I walk on the treadmill out of convenience, but I prefer walking outside. This is a great top for taking me to fall. While I love the racerback, I like to be covered a bit more when I’m out in public, and this pullover is so cute!

I love the neckline on this top. Yes, it’s a v-neck, but I like the crisscross design that elevates it from a basic T. The reviews say to order up one size and that it’s more of a tunic than a t-shirt and covers the booty.

I know that a lot of you hate wearing sleeveless shirts, but I’m going to say that exercise time is an exception. I HATE being hot, so I love working out in something loose and airy. And, of course, if you’re going to be outside in the fall, this would be cute under a light pullover or jacket.

One thing I’ve noticed is that workout clothes tend to get worn out fast. I think it’s because they get washed over and over. Unlike a blouse that you might wear to dinner and then hang back in your closet, workout gear gets soaked in sweat and salt. This is a cute top, available in many colors, but the thing I like most is the price! At just $18 dollars, you can afford to wear this for one season and toss if necessary.

For those of you who want to exercise but just can’t find the right program. I think I found something we can all do. Just please send me a video of you doing it! 🙂

  19. I loved the video!!! And the workout clothing.

  20. Funny video, but on a more serious note – as a former personal trainer, I urge people to never wear ankle weights while walking, jogging, or prancing. Ankle weights are for controlled leg exercises for shaping and strengthening and actually should be worn above the knee to avoid a long lever resistance that can put too much pressure on the knee joint. I don’t mean to be a “party pooper”, but I have seen too many injuries from improper use of weights.

    1. Joyce, thanks for letting us know. I know I’ve been guilty of wearing ankle weights, but what you said makes sense.

  21. I hope you are feeling better! We FINALLY got rain yesterday and another chance today. First rain we’ve had since July 30. Very thankful for it. I love all the workout clothes. I’m definitely want a few of these! Have a great day!! 🙂

  22. Cute outfits, Tania. When I exercise indoors (treadmill or low-impact aerobics), I wear “whatever”. Last year I purchased some cute outfits for walking/bike riding outdoors.

I think in order to Prancercise, I would need to do it with friends. That would make it so much more fun!

  23. Love the olive wide leg crops. I’m only out walking the dog, but these will be perfect! Really enjoy seeing your family pics Tania!

  24. Donna Ingalls says:

Some great options for workout pants that aren’t form fitting. Thanks for including these.

  25. Fun video! Cute workout clothes make all the difference. Really!

    1. Wasn’t that hilarious!?!

  26. Super cute workout ideas Tania! I plan to order a couple of these. Hope you feel better.

    1. I woke up in the best mood and feeling great today!

  27. Linda Shearer says:

Love these picks will definitely be trying some of these.
I never exercised before. If you think you cant exercise think again. One step at a time and it gets easier each time. I had a heart attack and weighed 295 pounds and that was a wake up call I weigh 155 now and exercise everyday. I have drop foot and arthritis. To quote Nike Just do it, and your body will Thank You. I have no fashion sense so I’m on your blog everyday to find things to wear.

    Thank You Tania!

    1. Very inspiring, Linda! Glad you’re in better health.

  28. If we all start doing prancercise……men in white coats will be coming for us!

    1. Hahaha! They would have a hard time catching us though.

  29. Patricia Konze says:

    1. If you do it, please send me video! lol

  30. I don’t love working out but I know it’s important for my health and well being. Thanks for showing all the cute options!

  31. Nice work out options! Especially not all tight fitting so I can still hide the belly that seems to have appeared in the last five years!

  32. I walk 6 miles a day for exercise. Outdoors only now, got rid of the treadmill, I’ve walked in the rain with my trusty raincoat and also snow. I just like being outdoors. Need some good exercise clothes, thank you!

  34. Timely blog/email. I gave up yesterday and joined a gym, figure paying the monthly fee will move me to go, also it’s less than 2 miles from home. Now that I am retired, I have more flexibility with time. But will need /want new exercise outfits. Have a blessed day.

    1. Thanks, Jenice! Good luck at the gym!
