Who’s ready for a vacation? SAME! My sister recently went on a trip to the Dominican Republic with a group of her friends, and I’ve definitely experienced FOMO! If you’re like my lucky sister and have a trip upcoming, then today’s post is for you. I’m sharing the best vacation items for your next trip. You’ll be rocking the resort with any of these items!

The Best Vacation Items For Your Next Trip – Sandals

You’ll need a good pair of walking sandals for your trip. The Victoria Slide Sandal by NAOT, a brand I’ve heard a lot of good things about, manages to look casual and semi-dressy, plus it is also comfortable. I love the chain detail that gives them an upscale look. These will look great with pants, skirts, shorts, and dresses. I sized up a 1/2 size in these sandals. Anytime I purchase a shoe that curves up at the toe and heel, I’ll size up a bit. I don’t like my heel to hit the curve. Lol!

For more sandals, check out the most comfortable walking shoes to buy now post I did earlier.

Leather always looks expensive, but these beauties from Steve Madden are around $55 dollars retail. They go on sale frequently, so even better deals can be had! I love the classic brown, but they come in several other chic options. This is a great shoe to take on vacation because it will go with everything from shorts to jeans to a summer dress.

A simple slide is always a chic choice. There’s something nice and low-key about these sandals that I love. This Boho pattern is a favorite, but it makes it hard to see the knotted tie on top. The link has many other options if you want a solid rather than a print. These also have a memory foam insole, so comfort and style – win/win. All of that and these are under $30 dollars!

The Best Vacation Items For Your Next Trip – Tote

Here is another item you’re going to want when you are on vacation. A large tote, like the LL Bean Tote is so versatile and can do many jobs. It is perfect for taking beach towels and all the sundries to the beach. You can also use it as a large shopping tote for souvenirs or as a laundry bag for dirty clothes. I recently did a post on The Best Oversized Totes For Spring And Summer if this style doesn’t appeal to you. BTW, I’m carrying the biggest size, but there are other size options.

A great bag can make or break your look, and these will definitely MAKE it. This canvas laptop bag is gorgeous. You know I take my work everywhere, vacation or not! One of the things I love about this, besides the color combination, is that it’s really for a laptop. Which means I won’t have room to put everything but the kitchen sink in it. My shoulder thanks me.

These boat-sized totes are all the rage! If you want to be extra swanky, you could have it monogrammed, but I think it’s lovely as is. Remember the quiet luxury trend? This is a great bag that doesn’t have a logo, etc., but it looks expensive. It’s practical – it will hold a ton, but also right on trend.

The Best Vacation Items For Your Next Trip – Pants

This is technically pants and a top, but let’s not quibble. lol. This looks so effortlessly chic to me. Like you just rolled out of bed in a swanky resort and ambled down to the pool for a breakfast frittata! It’s available in other colors, but this neutral apricot just looks perfect. You can get the whole set for under $55 dollars.

Flowy palazzo pants are a must-have, whether you’re staying at a Motel 6 or a 5-star Resort. I love the drawstring waist and slant pockets. They are 70% cotton and 30% linen, which means they’ll be very cool but also wrinkled. I think these types of pants are meant to be a bit wrinkled. What do you think? Are you ironing these before wearing them? I like the yellow, but they come in several other neutral colors as well.

The Best Vacation Items For Your Next Trip – Bathing Suits

I don’t like to think about bathing suits any more than you do but we must. This bathing suit looks amazing, AND it has tummy control. Yes, please! The ruched design of the waist gives coverage while also being stylish, and the legs are slightly high-cut, which elongates the leg. The black and white combo is a classic, but it’s also available in solid black and lots of other combinations. This looks much more expensive than the $35 dollar price tag.

For those of you who want more coverage, I’ve included this halter bathing suit with built-in boy shorts. It also has tummy control, thanks to swimsuit manufacturers – and a push-up bra. I’ll take all the help I can get! The top is my favorite part of this suit. Imagine wrapping a gorgeous sarong around the hips and going to the pool. Perfection!

I don’t think enough people wear the square neckline. It’s so chic to me! This suit has tummy control, thanks again, and a removable tie belt. If your waist is the smallest part of your body, keep it! These flirty sleeves can actually make your waist look smaller by accentuating the shoulders. This is especially flattering on triangle figures.

If you are looking for more swimsuit inspiration, here is a post I wrote last year around this time. I’ve not updated the post yet, so some of the links might be sold out.

The Best Vacation Items For Your Next Trip – Dresses

A boho maxi dress is a great option while on vacation. Throw this on over your bathing suit, grab a pair of chic sandals, get your tote and you are ready for some shopping! I like the V-neck and flowy sleeves, and the red and white pattern is very chic. Of course, there are a few other color combinations if you don’t love this print. I think it’s a sweet dress for around $40 dollars.

I chose this dress for the print! I want to call it Jacquard, but that’s really a textile. Still, whenever I google Jacquard, this print is usually rendered in it. Anyway, blue and white always look expensive to me, and I love this scoop neck with thin straps. I would 100% put a cardigan over it for eating in restaurants, etc. This is around $33 dollars, but looks so much more expensive!

Love that black and white swimsuit! We’re heading to Panama City Beach, FL the end of March. I’m looking forward to sunshine and resting. My parents had a house fire last week so I’ve been helping them with their insurance, housing, paperwork, etc… Hopefully, by the time we go, they’ll be somewhat settled.

    1. I hope it will be warm for you then. I love that area.

  8. Those outfits are so cute! My friend and I are about to go on a cruise in April and I can hardly wait. Never been to the eastern Caribbean, and I have looking forward to it. Also this is my 3rd cruise. They have been far between. 🙂 So this post is getting me excited.

    1. That sounds like a lot of fun!!!

  9. Vickey F Vaughan says:

Love these ideas for the cruise( our 1st ) we’re taking in May to celebrate our 50th anniversary. It also won’t break my budget and the colors are great.

    1. Congratulations!!!! How fun!

  10. Ginger Hiller says:

I sure hope that you are feeling better today. Great suggestions! We will be going to Port St. Joe, FL late July so that my husband and his nephew (that is also a cancer patient) can do some fishing on his big boat. I am afraid of water deeper than my waist, so I’ll just hand out with our dog while they’re on the water.

When I was a little girl my Mom packed us an apple and pretzels for a road trip. Funny how we all have our go to’s for traveling. As a grown up I always order a Bloody Mary to begin a vacation, it’s just what guarantees a good trip. Enjoy your time with your family.

    1. Lol! The Bloody Mary’s are a great way to start a trip.

  12. I love those two maxi dresses!! Too cute!

  13. Jenniffer Groski says:

Going on vacation in April so this is perfect!

  14. Prayers for a safe trip Tania! I feel like the older I get the more sensitive I am to weather fronts. And I can really tell how strong they are going to be based on how I feel!

  15. Linda Shearer says:

I used to travel for work so now I like to stay put. We do some day trips around here it’s interesting that you dont always know the things to see and do around where you live!

Love the laptop bag. Super chic!

  16. Great post and love all the vacation ideas. Ours won’t come until August so envious of those planning now. Love all the swimsuits at reasonable prices.

  17. The dresses would be great for a cruise. We’re headed to Alaska this summer. I’m not sure of the weather, but I’m looking for cruise wear.

    1. Barbara, it is usually chilly, even in the summer. Be sure to take rain gear and a jacket. There is nothing worse than being cold AND wet.

  18. Just came back from a vacation in Costa Rica, hot! Love the bathing suit with the exposed middle, don’t need it but may order one, the price and reviews are really good. The 2 piece lounge pant set has terrible reviews so give that a pass

  19. I am soooo very ready for a vacation! I can’t wait for spring and summer to come!

  20. I hope you feel better. I really like the boy shorts swim suit. I never saw a one piece. good price too.

  21. No trip planned here yet, but I will keep some items on hand thank you. Safe travels to Tennessee

  22. I have had my LL Bean tote for about 40 years and use it often. It still looks like new. Just used it yesterday to haul some books to the Goodwill.
And that navy boy short swimsuit is gorgeous.
