Have you heard of the Quiety Luxury trend? In a nutshell, it’s the idea that uber-wealthy celebrities don’t shout their wealth by wearing logo-covered clothing but instead spend stupid amounts of money on luxury items that are understated. Confused? Don’t worry! I’m going to show you affordable ways to rock the quiet luxury trend!

Affordable Ways To Rock the Quiet Luxury Trend – The Luxury

Quiet luxury means wearing very expensive brands that are simple in design. If you’re a fan of the Olsen twins, you may know that they have their own fashion design company called The Row. The designs are, well, I’ll let you see for yourself. Don’t panic when you see the prices. Keep scrolling, and you’ll see how I’ve created the same looks for much less.

Here’s a pair of their black wool pants. If you like them, they can be yours for $1,190 dollars. As crazy as that sounds, they are sold out in a couple of sizes! But there’s no logo, etc., to identify the label. That’s the point of quiet luxury.

Of course, the quiet luxury trend calls for a simple but expensive top.

Here’s a cashmere sweater from their site. Yours for $2750! While I may joke about the costs of these items, black and white is a classic. It’s a great look that won’t go out of style.

And to finish off the look, here’s your plain black purse. Don’t think the simplicity means it’s inexpensive. The cost? $1090 dollars. 🙂

The grand total for this look??

Now for the Tania version of these looks. Spoiler alert – it’s a whole lot more affordable.

Affordable Ways To Rock the Quiet Luxury Trend – The Budget Friendly Version

Cashmere is a luxury fabric, so an affordable way to rock the quiet luxury trend post without finding an affordable cashmere would just be wrong. Another thing that would be just plain wrong is paying $2750 for a cashmere sweater when you can get the Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater that looks this good for only $50! My sweater might not be as thick as the Row version, but I could rebuy it for YEARS and still come out ahead.

My Black Ultra-Stretch Ponte Straight Leg Pants fit so well! As soon as I slipped these on, I immediately ordered them in Olive, Charcoal, and Navy. I own the Spanx Perfect Pants, and these pants are comparable but are only $39!

I still love my three-compartment Pearl Crossbody. This crossbody is large enough for all my essentials, and the three compartments allow me to keep everything organized. Right now, the crossbody is on sale, but even at full price, it doesn’t come close the the Row handbag.

Affordable Ways To Rock the Quiet Luxury Trend – More Luxury

Here’s another example from The Row, this time a little more casual but not a lot less expensive.

Evidently, it costs a lot of money to make jeans quietly because these are $790 dollars! I have been known to spend more on good jeans, but unless these make me look three sizes smaller, I think I’ll pass.

I love the look of a plain cashmere sweater and a pair of jeans. I mean, that really does say luxury. But, come on. This v-neck cashmere sweater is priced at $1550, and it is sold out everywhere! 😳 All these items add up. Once the shock has worn off, scroll to see my version.

Affordable Ways To Rock the Quiet Luxury Trend – Tania’s Version

The V-Neck Cashmere Sweater is soft, luxurious, casual looking, and only $50! I love a v-neckline the best since it helps to elongate my neck. The ivory sweater is thin, so you can see the jeans through it, but I’m not bothered by that. However, if it bugs you, I have this sweater in several other colors, and you can’t see through those.

These pull-on jeans are Oprah’s Favorites, or at least the website says they are. The only thing I have against these jeans is that the elastic waist extends all the way around instead of just in the back. However, as long as your sweater or top covers the waistband, they look great. These jeans are less than $30, and I would have expected Oprah’s Favorite pair of jeans to be slightly more expensive. Lol!

Affordable Ways To Rock the Quiet Luxury Trend – The Basics

Here are a few basic items to have in your closet if you love the idea of quiet luxury.

A great blazer is a must-have. I love bright colors and tweeds, etc. but quiet luxury is more understated. That’s doesn’t mean it’s boring. The gold buttons are a nice touch. This is a classic that you can wear forever and a day.

A crisp white shirt is a simple way to look understated and classy. The key is to keep your shirt bright white and wrinkle-free. This is a relaxed fit version that goes with the whole laid-back, too busy on the yacht to work vibe. It’s on sale for $50 dollars so grab it while you can!

Oprah may love the jeans above, but if I could only have one pair, it would be a dark pair of boot-cut jeans. Trends come and go, but boot-cut never goes out of style. The dark wash is dressier than lighter jeans and looks chic. These are mid-rise, too, and very flattering on almost everyone. Imagine these jeans with the white shirt and blazer. Perfection!

Nothing says luxury like satin! It’s a great idea to have at least one satin shirt in your wardrobe to pull out on special occasions. Over the years of doing this blog, I learned that satin is actually a type of weave, not a fabric, which is why this shirt can be 97% polyester and 3% spandex and still be a satin shirt! All I know is that it’s beautiful and a classic.

I love a great pair of trousers! Pleated pants are all the rage right now, and these have just the right amount of swagger. I am showing them in tan so that you can see the pleat, but they also come in black and pinstripe. They are made out of modal, a very soft material, so the hang is just right.

Finally, luxury, quiet or otherwise, is all about the shoes. Brown loafers on everywhere, and this pair is gorgeous. I love a classic tassel loafer, and these from Talbots are beautiful. They are $150 dollars, but for a leather shoe that you can wear forever, I think they’re worth it. I mean, they’re not $1200 loafers from The Row, but I think they will do. Lol!

I hope you see that you CAN look like a million dollars without spending a ton of money. Go for classic silhouettes in neutral colors. No one but you and your accountant will know what you’ve spent!

  2. Dorothy Terwilliger says:

I am curious about the inseam you ordered 32”. I am about 5’8” and usually get 30”. Is that because you would be wearing heels? I really want to order some but was just wondering. Thanks.

    1. Dorothy, 32″ is my normal inseam for a full length pant.

  3. Love your take on quiet luxury. I often wonder why I want to pay extra to advertise for someone. Great classic looks here. And some excellent sources to get them.

  4. I really like the black and white outfit.

Great post! I have always shopped the runway looks for less.

  7. Sometimes I’ve wondered if I won a multi-million dollar lottery, would I shop clothiers like The Row? And I really don’t think I would! I’d buy nice things, but there are a lot of nice things that don’t cost that much! Your lower-cost items look just as nice, which gives you more $$$ for other things!

    1. I think like you, Nancy. I’d buy nice things, but I don’t think I would shop The Row. But, I’m willing to win the lottery just to see if I’m right. Lol!

    Hi Tanya!

I love these segments! LOVE them! Really trains the eye to look for similarities in style, while looking classy enough for a little party or lunch with the gurls! I’ve started kicking it up a notch just to run errands, it makes me feel good to look good… well at least better😂

Long time gurl member and first time commenter!

    1. Kathleen…what took you so long??? I’m so glad that you enjoyed this post. But, I’m most happy to hear that you’ve started kickin’ it up a notch even to run errands!!!

  15. Mandy Richardson says:

What a great post! Thank you.

  16. I’ve always gravitated toward the classic styles and I love to shop the bargains areas in stores. Even if I was rich, I’d never spend that much on on those pricey Row items. That’s so foolish. I’d help others in need.

    1. I’ve learned to never say never, but I don’t think I would shop there either.

  17. Carrie wilcox says:

As always , great suggestions to dress fabulous! Thank you for all you do to make me look great ( even over 50!)

  19. Jennifer H. says:

    Hey Tania!

Thanks so much for this very helpful post–it explains the whole “quiet luxury” aesthetic perfectly. This idea isn’t new–europeans and the Old Money set everywhere have embraced this look for years–but it is definitely having a “moment” now amongst mainstream fashion followers. I appreciate you breaking down the inspiration outfit with more affordable options for creating the look. Your picks are gorgeous, infinitely wearable, and luxurious–great style at its best!

    1. Thank you so much! It was a really fun post to write. I enjoyed finding the looks for less.

  20. shhh! Thanks for the quiet affordable clothing ideas. Glad your toes were warmed.

  21. I like your versions better especially the price. I request you find a real silk shirt or blouse at an affordable price. Lilysilk is still too expensive for my budget. I love my silk pillowcase and I wish I could find a top. It’s overwhelming for me to try to find one on line. Thanks for showing affordable clothing.

    1. Thanks, Terri. I will be on the lookout for an affordable silk shirt.

  22. WOW at those prices – no way! Thank you for posting these. Cute ideas!!

  23. the ROW omg, those prices!

  24. Oh my. Those prices are crazy!!!!

  25. Thanks for featuring Quince. I love their prices, quality, and generous return policy. I’ve bought cashmere sweaters, cotton sweaters, leather bags, linen, even jewelry. I’ve been wanting to try those pants!

    1. Yes, their return policy is awesome. Let me know how you like the pants!

  26. My husband says that in 41 years of marriage, my feet were warm only two winters, the years I was pregnant with our children. I am always cold, keep a jacket in the car, when we travel, because the AC makes me cold. I will have to check out the heating pad idea.

Who can justify spending that kind of money on clothes? They need to be more like Dolly and do good with their fortunes.

    1. Teresa, that made me laugh! I see cartoons a lot about women with cold feet, so it must be a wide spread thing.

  27. Love the classic look, but I would never spend the money on Row items.

  28. Loved this post Tania! Now I need to go take stock of my closet to see what color cashmere sweaters are not in there😊. Fabulous collection of colors!

    1. I’m glad you liked the post! ❤️

  29. Great post Tania! Crazy pricing at Row but you did a wonderful job finding budget priced alternatives. Another option is BananaRepublic Factory. Just received my latest order from them yesterday and it was similar items to your post. Great merino wool sweaters, classic flare trousers and cotton tees. Have a great week!

    1. Lisa, Banana Republic Factory is one of my favorite retailers for this exact thing. The have nice quality classic styles, but also a few trending items.

  30. Thanks for the education! 💵

  31. Debbie Barber says:

Thank you for educating me on quiet luxury. I had not heard of it.

  32. Loved all your subs!! Great job as usual.

  33. Janice Nagle says:

I love the old money look for less! wonderful looks in my price range!

  34. Karrie Knutson says:

I am blown away sometimes at the cost of the luxury items. I find your examples of similar attire at affordable prices!

  35. Love your snark(ish) comments! Actually, love your posts, in general. You’ve renewed my interest in fashion by highlighting looks that are attractive and doable. Thank you.

    1. Thanks, Anne. I’m glad your interest in fashion has been renewed!

  36. My feet and hands are always cold! I can relate!! Love it when you do these blogs! You’re a miracle worker! Sure saves us a lot of money! Thank You!

    1. Thanks, Dawn. I love finding affordable alternatives!

  37. These are great looks for a lot less!! Sometimes I wonder if the celebrities who spend this exorbitant amount on clothes have more dollars than sense…. It’s fun to recreate the same looks on a realistic budget. You did a great job with these classic looks. I’m ordering some now! Thanks!

    1. Delanie, I guess they have to spend it on something! Lol!

  38. Gina Luebke says:

It’s crazy to me that people can and will pay those kind of prices for clothes 😳
Great outfits and a fun post, I have a few things from Quince that I really like but I will say they run small so keep that in mind when ordering:) I think I’m going to give the pointe pants a try!!

    1. Gina, a large sweater from Quince fits me fine, and an XL gives me a slightly oversized look which I like.

  39. I like your versions a lot better. Thanks for sharing.

  40. Jes Sacco says:

How ridiculous to pay that much for simple clothes! I think that money could be used better ways. Thank you for your suggestions for similar ways to create those outfits. Also,I really like when you suggest we use what’s in our closets! Maybe a refresh in some parts, but using what we have.
Would love to see more. Have a great day😊

    1. Jes, I always suggest that you use what you already have and supplement for things that need replacing or updating.

  41. I actually prefer your looks and definitely your prices! I can’t imagine spending that kind of money on simple clothes. Thank you for options.

  42. Even during the summer I heat a microwave wrap just before I go to bed. When I’m warm I set it aside. In the winter I warm a shoulder wrap like yours and often two long wraps that I put on and around my cold, cold feet and/or on each side of my cold body! I’m with you Girl! Love my microwave wraps. About today’s post, I have ordered from Quince and am very pleased with their cost and quality.

    1. I’m so glad I found Quince. They are really nice value.

  43. Love this post…fun to see what’s out there and then find a more affordable choice. – Thanks!

Also, regarding your cold toes 😀 we keep a small (bottom half of bed)electric blanket on our bed year round. I say we “pre-heat” our bed. It helps with sore feet too👍🏻

    1. Love that idea! ❤️

  44. Wow! It’s amazing to think people pay those kind of prices! Thanks for showing options. Keep up the good work!

  45. One of my favorite outfits is a pair of jeans, a sweater and a comfy pair of loafers!

  46. Very helpful. I actually have always considered this style to be a form of minimalism. I find minimalistic fashion particularly appealing in my 50s. The less is more and the typically more subdued color palette is exactly the look I want to wear daily. Tania- you put together some excellent examples of this quiet luxury style. I find this to also be more European than American style. I absolutely love this.

    1. Thanks so much, Heather! I’m glad you enjoyed this topic. Quiet luxury is very chic.

  47. Thank you for showing the contrast between the Row clothes and your choices. I love the pieces you found to compare. These pieces are much more in my budget. I love posts like these.
    Barb B

    1. They’re more in my budget too! 😊

  48. Cheryll Sampson says:

Love the classic looks for less money. I cannot imagine spending as much money as The Row items.

    1. I can’t imagine spending that kind of money either. 😳

    1. Thanks! I have on a cashmere tee today!

  49. Suzonne Johnson says:

I love your less expensive looks for the Quiet Luxury. It’s sad that people spend that much money on one outfit, when so many people are in need of the basics of life. Thank you for sharing.

  50. Dana Smithmier says:

    i LOVE the white sweater❤️❤️❤️

  51. Love the look of the cashmere top and black pants!

  52. Linda Shearer says:

I use a heated pad on my neck to fall asleep. Ill have to try it on my feet now!

Love these looks especially the cashmere sweaters. They are so affordable!

  53. I am now in the “know”….thank you Tania for this informative and budget friendly post! Great clothes and accessories!!

  54. Ginger Hiller says:

Now that I’ve gotten over the shock of the price tags on the Row brand of clothes, I can go about my day. I definitely like your version of the outfits. I don’t own any cashmere items since we don’t have a dry cleaners in our are. So, I’m wondering what you would suggest to wear in place of the cashmere sweaters.

    1. Ginger, what really shocked me wasn’t the prices. It was the fact that they were SOLD OUT in lots of sizes.

  55. Sara McInnis says:

Thanks for Quince. I’ve never shopped there before but I’m going to now.

  56. Thanks, Tania, for showing us quiet luxury can be affordable!

  57. So glad I signed up. Follow on Pinterest and IG
My sister has severe Reynauds disease and forwarding the heating pad. She loves fashion and would love your posts! Have a great day!
    Celine

    1. I’m so glad you’re one of the gurls. Thanks for commenting!

  58. I just ordered a short sleeve and long sleeve version of the Quince sweaters. I am returning both. The ivory is THIN. The grey is better but I recommend sizing up overall. (JMO)

    1. Susan, the ivory is thin. The other colors are much better, and I do size up to a large for a fitted fit, and an XL for a relaxed fit.

  59. Mary Kinard says:

I had not heard the term Quiet Luxury before!

  60. Love the sweaters! They’re on my list.

  61. Who says that quiet luxury can’t be affordable? Thank you for showing us it can. Best,

  62. Those prices are crazy! So much fun to find an affordable version. Thanks for the ideas.
