Minimal Summer Makeup Must-Haves
I don’t know about you, but wearing a ton of makeup during the summer just feels wrong. When I was at the lake recently, I kept things very light. But, being completely barefaced and running errands isn’t my cup of tea, so today I’m sharing my list of minimal summer makeup MUST-HAVES.
Master Prime Blur + Pore Minimize Primer
I can’t believe there was a time when I put on makeup without using a primer. What was I thinking?! Primers help makeup go on smoothly and help it last longer. I like this one because it’s lightweight and won’t clog my pores. Plus, it’s under $12 dollars.
IT Cosmetics is one of my all-time faves. I’ve used it for years, and it always looks. I blogged about it in one of my earliest posts back in 2015! Even then I was singing the praises of the +50 sunscreen. If you haven’t tried it, you definitely should see what you think.
I’ve really gotten into these all-in-one palettes. Have you tried one yet? There are different variations, but this one has five sheer-to-medium, buildable color-correcting creams that let you “achieve flexible coverage while neutralizing imperfections, including dark circles/spots, redness, and hyperpigmentation.” You can mix and match the creams to get the exact result you want. Love it!
I recently took a trip to ULTA with my sister. She wanted me to pick out what I thought she needed. Finally, the green light I’ve been waiting for! lol. This concealer was one of the first things I put in her cart. I didn’t know until this post that it’s one of the best-selling concealers in the US. I have great taste, obviously. 🙂
Bare Minerals Tinted Moisturizer
Tinted moisturizers are a great option for those who like a little bit of coverage but don’t want to go full-on with foundation. This product combines three great things – moisturizer, tint, and sunscreen. I used this a lot on the houseboat because I wanted coverage without being too “made up.”
Blush is a minimum must-have! It was fine for your great-grandmother to pinch her cheeks during the Depression, but no one is falling for that anymore. Plus, ouch! Mac makes wonderful products, and this Glow Play Blush is no exception, but they are light. You’ll need to apply a heavier hand than usual. Keep that in mind when you’re deciding on which color.
Charlotte Tilbury Bronzing Powder
Getting the sunkissed look without actually being in the sun? Yes, please! I’m a fan of Charlotte Tilbury products. There’s always one or two included in my core makeup products. This is great as an allover face and body bronzer, or to use as a contour.
One of the biggest makeup mistakes I see is neglecting to put on setting powder over your foundation. It’s crucial in helping your makeup stay looking fresh longer. According to the product info, this was developed by plastic surgeons and is infused with silk, hydrolyzed collagen, antioxidants, and peptides. I just know that I don’t leave the house without my setting powder!
Minimal Summer Makeup Must-Haves – Eyes
One of the issues a lot of women say they have with liquid liner is getting it to go straight and even. This beauty from Lancome is both liquid AND pencil. Because it’s a waterproof gel, it won’t smear like a typical liquid liner. It comes in several colors and is only $22 dollars!
Goof Proof Waterproof Eyebrow Pencil
Gurls, don’t forget your eyebrows! This Goof Proof eyebrow pencil makes it easy. It’s available in 12 shades so you’re sure to find a match for your own hair color. Use the wide part of the tip to shape and fill brows and the pointed edge of the tip to define the outer end. $25 dollars a rating of 4.6 stars!
When is the last time you replaced your eyelash curler? I use my curler every single day, and it’s one of those things that can get dirty quick. Throw out that gunky old curler and invest in a good one like this ProMaster.
Essence Lash Princess Waterproof Mascara
If you’ve read my blog for very long, you know that I love this mascara! I recently blogged about the best mascaras for women over 50 and of course, it made the list. For summer you’ll definitely want the waterproof version in case of humidity or when you’re ready to take a jump in the pool.
Minimal Summer Makeup Must-Haves- Lips
A minimum makeup must-have is a great lipstick. I blogged about several types and colors a few weeks ago. Milani lipsticks go on so creamy and then are very affordable. This tube is only $7 dollars but looks so much more expensive.
And finally, you can’t forget your sunscreen! I’ve mentioned Supergoop over and over, but it really is one of my favorites. If you only go out with one thing, make it sunscreen! The Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen is PF 40 and is invisible, weightless, and a makeup-gripping primer that protects against UVA/UVB helps filter blue light, and leaves a natural finish!

I love seeing what you wear! Your taste is much like mine. Thanks for all the wonderful tips and ideas! I live in the Midwest and I jokingly say” women around here dress like they’re going to milk the cows! ha,ha…not for me !!. Have a blessed day!
So, funny!
I love your makeup must halves. I always buy 1-2 products and try them. Some work and some don’t. Luckily they are affordable to try different ones!
Judy, I am so glad you have an open mind. I love trying new things, and like you said, some work and others, not so much.
Love the blog. I prefer photos over videos. I tend to read early in the am while my hubby is still sleeping. I’d rather not wake him with my shopping…. I mean reading!!
Good point, Susie! Lol! If I do any more videos, I’ll make sure that the audio is muted. 😝
