Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old styling a monochromatic lookI feel that I need to give you a warning. According to my lovely daughter, who is in visiting from Alaska, Joe and I are boring. Are you as shocked as me by this statement? How can she find someone who never goes to the grocery store, never cooks anymore, sits at least eight hours at a computer, and doesn’t watch television boring? I am not sure what she thinks people do who are over the age of 50, but I can’t be the only boring person out there…can I?
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old styling a monochromatic look with a beige sweater and pantsHere is the warning part; you gurls follow me. Lol! If I am boring, then what does that say about you? Hahaha! I don’t want to be a boring person. I want to be exciting and active, but everything that she mentions that she wants to do finds me shaking my head. Here is the problem; I don’t want to climb mountains, I don’t want to go cave spelunking, and I have no desire even to do normal things like go to a movie. I will admit that when she “forced” me to go on an outdoor adventure in Florida on paddleboards, I had a great time. So, maybe in 2020, I will say yes to more adventures and get outside of my comfort zone. It would be nice if I could do those from my nice comfortable chair. Lol!
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old styling a monochromatic look with a beige Fairisle sweater from Chico'sI know that I have loved the Fairisle print sweaters in the past few months. And I hesitated to show you yet another similar print sweater, but this one is so gorgeous that I had to show it. I saw this in person in the store, and I immediately went back to the room (I was at the beach) and ordered it. I hate trying on clothing in the stores, and since I don’t have stores near me to return things if they don’t work, I like ordering the best. Some people might find neutrals to be boring, but I bet they would think otherwise if they saw this sweater. The muted colors are beautiful, and I think this sweater looks luxurious and elegant. The mock turtleneck design is not tight; I can’t stand when things are tight against my neck. This is a soft sweater, and it is a cotton, polyester, wool, and acrylic blend that is machine washable. This sweater is on sale right now for 50% off, and I am wearing a 1 for sizing purposes. Here is the link to the sweater. If you want to see some of my other Fairisle sweaters, then here is a gray one, here is a beige one, and here is an ivory one.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old styling a monochromatic look with a beaded necklace and gold hoop earringsThe multi-strand necklace is perfect for this sweater. I felt like the sweater needed “something,” but I didn’t want to distract from the muted tones of the look. The Christine necklace was a perfect choice since the beads blend in with the look of the sweater. The large gold filigree hoops are a new purchase that I am loving. These are the Maggie Hoops by Kendra Scott, and here is the link. I have never been a fan of the stone jewelry by Kendra Scott, but I love the plain metal jewelry. So, far I have a necklace and three pair of earrings, and the quality of my items are excellent. I have the bracelet ordered (here) that matches these earrings, and it should be here in a couple of days. My earrings are the large version, but if you want a smaller version, then here is the link. I have a link for you to get 20% off your first order, so be sure to take advantage of that by clicking here.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old styling a monochromatic look in beige with a sweater and corduroy pantsI think that the sweater would look great with jeans, gray, white, and a few other colors. But, today, I am wearing a pair of high waist corduroy pants in a color called cool sand. I loved the monochromatic look of the outfit, especially since the colors in the sweater were so muted. I like the skinny pant style, and I love corduroy material, so these were a no-brainer for me. The color is what attracted me because I have plenty of navy, black, and gray pants. I am always on the lookout for something different and special, and I think that these fit the bill. They look more mauve in the photos, but they are a taupe color, a lovely shade that is between a gray and a brown. These pants are also on sale for 40% off, so grab a pair while you can. I am wearing my usual size; that would be a 30, which equates to a size 10. Here is the link to the pants that comes in eight different colors.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old styling a monochromatic look with a sand pant and pointed toe ankle bootsI just got these pointed toe ankle boots in this past week. These are by Vince Camuto, and they fit nice. I like the chunky heel; they are easier to walk in than most heels. You can see the elastic gore inserts on the sides that help these to slide on and off easily since there are no zippers. The pointy toe took a little getting used to, but because these are leather, they had some give to them, and now they fit great. I am wearing my usual size 9, which fits great. You can’t see in the photos, but if you look at the pictures online, then you will see that there is a faint crocodile pattern in the leather. These boots are also on sale for 40% off (I love this time of the year), and here is the link if you are interested in getting your own pair.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a sweater and corduroy pants in brownsI haven’t mentioned anything about my skincare line, and I have been getting a few emails asking what I am using. I use, and sell, Rodan + Fields skincare. What I currently use is Redefine Regimen, which is the regimen for anti-aging. If you want to know if it works, then look at the archive search feature and go back to when I first started blogging. Pictures speak louder than words!!! There are a few products that I use daily, and those are the Active Hydration Serum, the Multi-Function Eye Cream, Active Hydration Body Replenish, Lash Boost, and the Intensive Renewing Serum. I also use Radiant Defense as my makeup/foundation, and even that has anti-aging properties in it. 1. What I love most is the color of your pants. Being in my 70’s, living in the Northeast and not wanting to overdo makeup, I’ve adopted rose, mauve and blush apparel to complement my pale skin. Your outfit is a modern classic!

  2. Your hair looks particularly good in this post. How would you describe your cut? I’m getting my hair cut this week and I might try something similar. How do you style it to get the layers to flip out on the sides? Enjoying your blog so much!

  3. Another fair isle sweater that I love. I just received the blue one from Old Navy, and I’m about to order this one! I love a monochromatic look -always a classic style.

    1. You will love this one too, Pamela!

  4. Kathy Huie says:

Tania, I really enjoy your blog. I am so glad that I found you. I enjoy your sense of humor, your family stories and your sense of fashion. Happy 2020 to you and yours!!!

    1. Kathy, thanks so much for your comment.

  5. From one boring person to another, we sure have a good time anyway – and look fabulous doing it! ?

  6. Kelly Palmer says:

This outfit is anything but boring and it is one of my absolute favorites that you have shown yet! 🙂

  7. Love the outfit. I think that color makes blondes look soft & feminine. Checked out the jewelry. Love it all. I didn’t think I’d like the earrings or bracelet until I saw it was all open. I definitely don’t NEED any more jewelry! I guess we’re all a bit boring…altho my friends say I’m always doing something or going somewhere. When I’m at home, I’m very boring. Listen to music & play on the computer & READ. My grandson always has plans for me. He wants to go to the movies tomorrow so…off we go! Happy New Year!

    1. I love that the grandbabies keep us busy! I hope they will have great memories one day!

  8. I don’t think you and Joe are boring at all. You have several businesses, you travel all the time, Joe flies his own plane, he plays golf, you’re very involved with your families, you both go to church. I’m tired just thinking about it. I like to be active, travel, go sightseeing, watch the sun go down, etc., but after reading stories about people’s mishaps while on extreme adventures, I’ll stick to my boring and safe life. And, being over the age of 60, there’s already plenty of fun stuff to do like cataract surgery, bone density screening, root canals, cancer screening, to keep from being bored, lol.

    1. Angie, thanks for reminding me of some of the activities that I do. I like to play it on the safe side when it comes to adventures.

  9. Susan Drew says:

Hi Tanya- I love your blog❤️ I just want to give you a different perspective on what your daughter wants. She wants to be with you. My son was murdered 2 1/2 years ago and I would give anything to have him go hiking with. Please, listen to her- she wants you and you have that opportunity- don’t waste it. Tomorrow is not guaranteed for any of us, so spend every minute you can with those you love- they wouldn’t ask you if they didn’t want YOU. Please count your blessings❤️❤️❤️ With love, Susan

    1. Susan, my heart goes out to you. You have lived a mother’s worst nightmare. I am so sorry. You are right that we are not guaranteed tomorrow, and we should all live today like it was our last.

  10. Love this outfit so much, it’s now on the way to me! Please start featuring some things I DON’T like! lol

    1. Lisa, you made me snort! Lol!

  11. When my husband retired he started grilling, bought a smoker and started going to the store to buy meat. I handed him the grocery list and sang hallelujah.
I love the look. Something peaceful, serene about mono after all the color during the holidays, Have a happy new year and I just believe it is going to be a great one for all of us.

    1. I give Joe my list also, but he doesn’t buy as I do. I would almost rather do it myself.

  12. My DH gets out a lot. He goes grocery shopping because he enjoys it. I found that out a couple of years ago and gave the job to him. He loves to grill and smoke meat so I just add sides. We live in the country so I do a run to town when I have too but I really like doing nothing. LOL
His Retirement is working out great for me. Ex musicians never really retire anyway.
I love dressing in one color head to foot but with a twist like the pretty pattern on your sweater. I love these sweaters. Happy New Year. Your best year ever!

  13. Nicki Frair says:

I love this look! So soft and warm! I am not used to ordering clothes on line. I still want to touch and try on and hate sending things back. My shopping choices are getting fewer and fewer so I may have to get with it! We are all boring in our daily lives I think. I do like to try something new once in a while.

    1. Oh, Nicki! Once you learn the sizes of your favorite brands, you’ll love buying online. I love Nordstrom because they have free shipping and free returns.

  14. I really like this outfit and the boots. But I think a 3-1/2 inch heel, even if it is block, is just a little too high for an everyday look for me.

    1. Haha! Joy, if it is under 4″, then it is an everyday look. I am taking advantage of wearing heels while I still can.

  15. Love this outfit…from one boring person to another;)

  16. hmm, I thought I saw you in a red sweater very similar as well?…..LOL, you always look great! when I find something I love I am drawn to versions of it all the time too.

  17. Sherli Morgan says:

Well boring or not, you look great! Lol. I’ve decided I must be less boring than you because I do at least go to the grocery store! I know, I’m a wild one!! Maybe you can up your game by getting out more in 2020!!
