Who wants to look great? I’m hoping that everyone raised their hand(s)! 50 Is Not Old was created to help ladies rediscover themselves after putting their families first. Fashion doesn’t stay the same, and after years of putting yourself on the back burner, you might find it challenging to navigate fashion. Today, we are tackling how to look great in a casual weekend outfit, and I hope this is helpful.

Even though I don’t go into an office for work, I still look forward to the weekends. Weekends are normally laid-back and relaxing, and I want my outfits to be the same. Most outfits consist of a top and a bottom unless you’re wearing a dress or jumpsuit.

It usually doesn’t cost any more to pick cute casual tops and bottoms. Examine the clothing you are purchasing and ask yourself a couple of questions.

  • Is the item cute and fashionable? If the item isn’t cute, leave it on the rack.
  • Can it be worn in multiple ways? You’ll want to see yourself wearing items with other clothing.
  • Does the item fit you correctly, and are you comfortable? Say NO to items that are too small or too big.
  • Do you feel confident? Look in the mirror…if you like what you see, wear it proudly.

Fashion, even a casual weekend outfit, is personal. Don’t let someone else dampen your joy from wearing what you like. Recently, a reader mentioned someone told her that a dress was too short for her to wear. What the person was really saying was that the dress would make HER uncomfortable. If you have nice long legs and like to show them off, go for it! If you prefer to wear dresses to the floor, have fun! But, please, NEVER make someone else feel like they have to follow “your” rules on how to dress.

Yes, this is a tee, but isn’t it adorable??? In case you are wondering, Les Poissons is French for “the fishes.” The navy tee is adorned with lots of fish swimming in different directions. It is similar to life; we are all in the same pond but are headed in different directions, and some are farther along than others.

The tee fits true to size, and the medium fits me perfectly with plenty of room.

I have to admit, the Beach Terry Wide Crop Pants are my favorite thing about this outfit. They are soooo comfortable and are the perfect item for a casual weekend outfit. They would look great with a pair of sneakers, but I paired them with a simple pair of Tory Burch flip-flops that I’ve had for a year.

Minimal or simple flip-flops are trending this year. Here are a few that I’ve seen you might like.

My daughter’s boyfriends used to do the egg thing. we had never heard of that. But, I’m with you…ew. love your posts, I’ve tried so many different outfits, thanks to you!

  6. I too love the deer more than my Hosta
We also have a rather large Holly bush that they eat in the winter. And let me tell you, winter in New England can be pretty tough. We are always happy to see the deer come spring, and so far the holly has enough re growth to help them through the next winter.

  7. I love your casual weekend outfit you have on. The pants look so comfy. I’m starting to watch Talbot’s closely now because of the sales they’ll be having and are having.
Your little plant eating friend is so cute!

  8. Looks like a very comfortable outfit to just bum around in!

  9. I just got my pineapple corer/ slicer you had linked a few wks ago,
love it! I never knew there was such a contraction! It’s the most useful thing I have bought in awhile! I am lucky to live where deer & everything (even bears 😳) cross my yard! However the deer & rabbits keep my scrubs trimmed lol

    1. Isn’t it funny how there are things we never knew about, but now love?

  10. I’m not a graphic tee person but love some of the additional items you show for casual outfits.

Love your attitude about clothes and life! 😎

  13. Sorry but this is not a good look IMO

    1. That’s why fashion is a personal choice. You don’t “have” to wear it, but I can.

  14. even going to grocery store I have fun trying out these polished outfits! Don’t understand people wearing faded old torn clothing ugh!

  15. Love the remark about fishes going in different directions. Ain’t it the truth!

  16. I enjoyed reading your post and I have been watching for over a month and I love all the clothes unfortunately I broke my ankle 6 years ago and I have really big calves so I am very self-conscious about wearing a dress that’s why I appreciate what you posted today

  17. deer are eating my hostas too, rabbits ate all the leaves off my peppers and some impatient flowers. I am not as ok with it as you, LOL. putting cinnamon on the hostas now, we’ll see

  18. Ginger Hiller says:

If you want to keep your hostas and the deer, convince Joe to put up a trough feeder near the edge of your property and fill it with deer corn. They are such beautiful animals to watch. I love this outfit and what you wrote to us! Because I get soaking wet just being out with our dog, I don’t wear my better casual clothes at home, but I do try not to dress to sloppy either.

    1. Joe doesn’t like the deer as much as I do. 🤣

  19. I always look forward to reading all of your blogs.. And also the Bible scriptures.. And how to wear and style clothes for ladies over 50.. We can still look young…❤

  20. Karen Johnson says:

The beach Terry wide pants are really cute. The Talbots price is pretty high though.

    1. Talbots always have great sales. You can get quality clothing for a great price.

  21. Sue koren says:

I have problems with rabbits and
    Squirrels eating all my hostas!

  22. Love these outfits from one of my favorite stores. I have to order the terry crop pants and perhaps the T shirt too.

  23. Cute outfit! Totally my style, as comfy as pajamas! Seems like where I live nobody dresses up unless it’s for church! I miss getting “dressed up” to go out to dinner! Great advice on questions to ask yourself before purchasing thank u!

  24. Joan Bullington says:

I don’t like when deer eat my hostas! I’ve been lucky this year, they haven’t come around yet! Love your Casual look!

  25. Patt Dyal says:

Are you liking the egg shelf and surely the egg shells aren’t finding there way back?
I love love love anything turquoise! Just says summer to me!

    1. My egg rack hasn’t gotten here yet.

  26. Connie Nunn says:

Thank you for sharing comfy weekend looks

  27. Cute, casual ideas! I usually buy my casual, everyday clothes at less expensive places like Walmart and Amazon and my dressier outfits at places like Chicos, Ann Taylor and Talbots.
    Works well with my budget.

  28. Oh Tania, loved your deer and hostas comment-hostas are perennial, guess you just need to treat them like annuals and keep planting!

  29. Roberta Schwandner says:

I do like the cropped pants.

  30. That’s my kind of outfit! Happy Saturday❤❤❤

  31. Very relaxed look.
We also have deer come across our backyard and we live in a suburb with very little woods. Always love seeing the new fawns each year.

  32. Those terry crop pants looks soooooooo comfy. Perfect for the beach or a casual day at home.

  33. Oh deer…I like seeing them too and have adapted my flowers to things they mostly don’t eat. Every once in awhile, they’ll snack on something supposedly “deer proof”. But they are pretty animals and I love seeing them and the fawns. As for weekend wear, I’m all for comfort! T-shirt and shorts for me in the summer. Love the outfit you’re wearing – cute graphic t and I might even could do the pants!

  34. I love these outfits! I really enjoy your blog and read it everyday

  35. Ellen Sorensen says:

    Hi Tania,
I love the weekend. looks you have shown, and especially the reminder to ask yourself those questions when shopping! Not long ago, while I was shopping in Talbot’s, the sweet lady helping me told me that if I didn’t love it when I put it on , it should probably be a no. I really appreciated her honesty, and remember that advice so often when I am shopping! Have a great weekend !

  36. Yes, the deer love Hostas, it’s like a salad bar for them! I haven’t seen my Hostas for years, as soon as they come up they are nibbled down to the ground! One possibility to discourage them is to place plants they don’t like around them, like Marigolds, Lavender, Mint, Bee Balm – there are quite a few choices. Deer and critters often don’t like plants that have a strong odor. It may work!
Very cute outfits, the “comfy” clothes are my style for sure.

  37. Love love the terry pants!

  38. I love comfy, great choices!

  39. Love the pull on pants! Old Navy has tall sizes. 🙂 Thank you for such interesting reads each day.

  40. I love everything about this outfit! Thanks for the inspiration! 😊

  41. Love the tee and the outfit.

  42. How do you know you’re not too old to wear something ‘cute’?

    1. Amy, you are never too old to wear something. It is a matter of how it makes you feel. If you “think” you’re too old for something, then you are. It isn’t your age, but it is how you think, and that is true for all of us.

  43. My kind of style! cute and comfy, I do try hard to pay attention and make sure I still have a put together look even running to the grocery store. thank you! have a great weekend

    1. You are one of the few. Some times I go to the store and wonder about some of the outfits. 🤪
