50 IS NOT OLD | DRESSING UP DISTRESSED JEANS | FASHION OVER 40I did it!!! I survived the entire day without breaking my ankle. Haha! Let me tell you; it was not an easy feat either. I love seeing others wear platform shoes, but I am a klutz when I try walking with them. This pair of shoes is the highest platform shoes that I own, and I don’t wear them very often for a good reason. They are two inches off the ground, which doesn’t sound like much, but it feels like you are walking on stilts.
50 IS NOT OLD | DRESSING UP DISTRESSED JEANS | FASHION OVER 40I put the shoes on, and I very carefully made my way outside to take my pictures. Then I got ready to go to work, but I decided to run and use the bathroom first. Scroll on if you don’t like too much information; you have been warned. I didn’t think a thing about wearing these shoes because they feel like regular shoes after you put them on. But, I got ready to sit down, and I suddenly had that feeling that comes over you when a chair has been pulled out from under you. Our body must know to the inch, how far we squat when we go to sit down because those two little inches through me into a panic. I thought for sure that I had missed the toilet and I let out a squeal. I felt pretty silly once I figured out what was the problem. I chuckled to myself and thought, “I guess that I am going to have to tell a silly one on myself.”
50 IS NOT OLD | DRESSING UP DISTRESSED JEANS | FASHION OVER 40I am not sure if this linen blazer is showing up in the true color. This is a navy one-button linen blazer that I received c/o Cato Fashions back in the summer. I liked the shorter length; it seems more summery in this length. And, I also love a 3/4 length sleeve because I feel they are more flattering than a long sleeve. But, this blazer is no longer on their website, but I am sure that you will like these that are similar.

50 IS NOT OLD | DRESSING UP DISTRESSED JEANS | FASHION OVER 40My colorful marbled earrings are no longer on the website. But, the cute turquoise necklaces are still available. The shorter, Challis necklace, has a marbled turquoise rectangle on a gold chain, and it is 19.5″ – 22.75″ adjustable. The longer, Joan necklace, has seafoam rods on a gold chain, and it is 37.5″- 40″ adjustable. My trio bracelets are the Lelani (link), and one from the Stacia bracelet set, and one from the Rachel set.
50 IS NOT OLD | DRESSING UP DISTRESSED JEANS | FASHION OVER 40I love my jeans, Sofia Vergara. These are such so comfortable and yet so stylish. The jeans are soft and stretchy, so you don’t have to bother breaking them in. Although I don’t mind having some holes in my distressed jeans, I like the look without all the huge holes. This looks more modern and updated, instead of worn out and dated. Here is the link to the jeans.

My platform shoes are several years old, but since I don’t wear them that often, they look brand new. If you promise not to fall off and break an ankle, then I will post a couple of similar styles.

50 IS NOT OLD | DRESSING UP DISTRESSED JEANS | FASHION OVER 40You have heard me say over and over again that I am a shy person when you meet me. I might have to put that saying to rest since it seems like I am becoming bolder every day. Did you see yesterday where I said that I never used to wear red or bright colors because I was afraid that it would bring attention to me? I have changed in that department, and I find myself changing in the shyness department also. The blog has helped some, but the majority of the reason for the change has been Rodan + Fields. Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? But, I read that the same thing happened to another lady, who moved to America not knowing anyone. Here is her story.

I’m laughing with you! I severely sprained my ankle last week and doctor has me in a boot. To keep from walking alike a drunken sailor I had to find a 1 1/2 – 2 inch platform for my other foot. All was good – til I had to go to the bathroom! I felt like I was falling!!!

  5. Not a fan of those jeans when you’re over 25! Too young and faddish

  6. I’ve thought the same thing about the 2″ difference in height…when someone left the toilet seat up!!!! (Know anyone who does that?)

I totally felt you platform shoe pain. I can remember racing down the stair in platform clogs. i hit the landing fairly quickly and sprained my ankle really bad. nothing higher than a kitten heel for me. I love this out fit. very cute for lunch outing or maybe for nursery duty at church.

    1. I was VERY careful. The last thing that I wanted was a broken ankle.
