When it comes to vacation and resort wear, comfort is key. But that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style. You can find clothing that is both comfortable and stylish.

I know a vacation is something we all look forward to, especially after 2020 shut down almost all traveling. When I travel, it is usually to a warm destination, and I spend my time in swimsuits and shorts. But, I like to dress up too, and these outfits are perfect for relaxing on a beach or exploring a new city. Check out today’s Colorful Vacation and Resort Wear outfits for your next vacation or event.

Vacation and Resort Wear For Date Night

For sizing, I’m 5’6,” and weigh between 150-155 pounds. I usually wear a size 12 or a large in dresses. All the links to my clothing and accessories are under the photo. Just click on the highlighted wording to go to the website.

When it comes to vacation and resort wear, comfort is key. But that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style. You can find dresses that are both comfortable and stylish. I’m loving this Lace Short Sleeve Maxi Dress in purple. This is something I would wear this summer for a date night with Joe sitting outside at a restaurant.

For vacation and resort wear clothing, I usually go for bold prints and bright colors. Vacations are a time to have fun, and I enjoy wearing clothing that makes me happy when I’m on vacation.

I’m wearing a large, and it fits me perfectly. This dress would be great for a wedding or shower, and I would wear this for a date night or to church also.

Look at the lace detail!!! This dress looks like it cost way more than it does. It is available in many colors if purple isn’t a color that goes with your skin tone. I also love how the bright blue of the sunglasses pops with this dress.

The Lou Matelassé Leather Camera Bag was a splurge purchase that I’ve been eyeing for over a year. I bought a neutral color since I want to carry it with everything. However, since it is a splurge, I also linked this Similar for less version that I have in Sands and Black.

Make A Statement With Your Vacation and Resort Wear

Maxi dresses are perfect for vacation and resort wear because they’re comfortable. I love how they cover your legs, and they come in so many different styles. This Crossover Halter Neck Maxi Dress might be out of the comfort zone for many of you. But, don’t be afraid to try something new and playful, especially when you’re on vacation.

This is a statement dress that is sure to get attention. When you are wearing a dress like this, make sure that you have on your lipstick and accessories, and throw back your shoulders and strut like you look like a million bucks. Confidence is the best accessory you can add to your outfit.

With a dress like this, I wear the Silicone Coverups that I’ve talked about before. This dress has a low cut-out on the back, so wearing a strapless bra is almost impossible. I’m not chesty, so the silicone coverups work great for me.

The Quilted Crossbody Bag is just the perfect size to carry your phone, lipstick, credit card, etc. and still look dressy enough to carry with a dress.

Choose Lightweight Materials

When shopping for vacation and resort wear, look for dresses made of cotton, linen, or other lightweight materials. If your vacation is in the tropics or somewhere else equally as warm, then you want to dress to stay cool.

The Halter Neck Floral Print Maxi Dress doesn’t look great with my skin tone. I look better in more saturated colors, and this one kind of washes me out. However, I like to show clothing for everyone, so while this dress isn’t for me, it might be perfect for you.

This dress is available in several colors and prints; the Bluishviolet is the color that would have looked the best on me.

The back of this dress is just as pretty as the front. It is unique, and will definitely draw attention. You might want to keep a wrap or shawl handy just in case the night gets chilly.

Lapis has always been a gemstone that I gravitated toward. I love the gold veining that runs through the stone, and each one is so unique. The Drop Earrings in Bronze Veined Lapis Turquoise are on final sale, and there are only a few left.

The Crossbody Shoulder Evening Purse is a structured bag that has several compartments. I love the details on this bag, and the color is one that will go with everything. This bag is one I’ll carry out to dinner, church, or to a meeting.

These shoes are so gorgeous! I was amazed at how comfortable they were because I thought they might clop as you walked. The pleated fabric is soft and feels great on your feet. These Pleated Bow Knot Heeled Sandals run TTS, and I’m wearing beige, but they also come in several other colors.

The WOW Factor

There are times when you want to enter a room, and all the eyes turn to look at you. This Hot Pink Halter Maxi Dress is not for the faint of heart because you will be the center of attention when you wear it.

When I think of vacation and resort wear, I think of a show-stopping dress like this. It is flowy, so it swishes as you walk and billows in the breeze from the ocean. The great thing about a dress like this is that you can eat as much as you want since this hides any stomach issues you might have. #nolumpsorbumps

I chose to accessorize with pearls and let the dress be the star of the show.

This is another dress that looks fabulous from the back. Bows are tending this year, so this dress will show that you pay attention to fashion trends.

Here is a closer view of the Quilted Crossbody Bag and Nile – Freshwater Baroque Pearl Charm Bracelet.

Notice the bows on the Champagne Dress Sandals? These dress sandals are so delicate and feminine looking, and that is hard to do with a size 9 foot. I love the champagne color; it will look great with any color dress.

Vibrant, Wild, and Funky Vacation and Resort Wear

Vacation and resort wear dresses can be a fun and comfortable way for women over 50 to express their personal style while enjoying a relaxing getaway. I realize that the large and vibrant print of this dress might be too much for some of you, but this is exactly my style. Knowing what you like and what makes you feel confident and happy is important. Take a few minutes and look through your closet to figure out your “happy style.”

This is the only dress that I styled that is long-sleeved. I love the balloon sleeves, and they kept me warm at dinner with the breeze of the ocean flowing through the restaurant.

This is a relaxed-fit shirt dress style, and you can belt the dress or let it hang loose. If you are between sizes, I suggest sizing down. The dress is 97% Polyester and 3% Spandex, and it is recommended that you hand wash the dress in cold water. It is fully lined, so you don’t have to worry about the dress being see-through.

I know a lot of you have seen me link to similar Brahmin bags, and you might have wondered how they look. This Vegan Leather Crocodile-Embossed is not Brahmin, but it isn’t bad. You can see the pretty embossed crocodile material and the sheen on the bag. At under $50, it is a great bag.

Jennifer from A Well Styled Life was my roommate when I recently went to Miami. We are a lot alike in many ways, but completely different when it comes to fashion. I gravitate toward bright colors, and she goes toward black. We somehow complement each other, and I’ve found myself wearing more black lately, and she is branching out into colors. She even agreed to try on this dress!

  1. You are stunning in all the dresses!

  2. MaryCarol says:

You look amazing in the hot pink halter dress…bright and colorful.
I’m looking for a smaller handbag so will search through some of your recommendations.

  3. I thought the lace dress was my favorite, then the crossover halter-neck, and then I saw the long-sleeved floral, so they are all grand. You look so good in the purple and the red.

  4. Karen Hodges says:

Fun post to read while sitting on the beach in Mexico! I would love your recommendations for wraps or throws since evenings are usually in the mid 60s which is a bit cool at patio restaurants. I do have several dresses in bright prints, so what I need is probably a solid color shawl in white or blue. Thanks!

  5. Karen Lunde says:

    Beautiful colors!

  6. Maria Kozan says:

I love the last pink dress you had on. Georgeous!

I have a question, do you know anything about the website Stylewe that shows up on this between your photos? Wondering if they are a trustworthy site.

    Thanks.

    1. I’ve never heard of it. The ads show up differently for everyone; I don’t pick them.

  7. Those bright colors look beautiful on you -especially that last dress.

  8. These dresses looked very beautiful on you.
You must have turned a lot of heads as you walked on by. 👍

    1. Haha! It was funny; there was this guy working at the hotel. The photographer and I stopped to chat with him for a minute, and he commented on my hot pink dress. Then, he said, “didn’t I just see you in a floral dress?” I said yes. Then, he said, “and before that, didn’t you have on a black pantsuit?” I laughed and said yes. So, at least one person was paying attention to what I was wearing. Lol!

  9. Wow! is right about the hot pink dress! Just beautiful!

I love all these dresses. Unfortunately, because I’m short, I can never wear a maxi dress.

Okay, I think we all need a picture of Joe’s white hair! Haha!

  10. I love that you do provide more reasonably priced options, but a bit shocked that you would share a link to a purse that costs nearly $1700. Women our age want to look fashionable but we are also at an age where resources may be limited.

    1. Janice, I try to show prices for everyone, and that includes those whose resources can affordable handbags that are costly. I also showed the similar version that was much less for those wanting the look without the price tag.

      1. I appreciate that, Tania! I’d rather save up and spend $1,700 on a classic bag that will last me for years rather than buy a bunch of inexpensive purses. That YSL bag is gorgeous!

  11. You look great in those dresses! I’m not a long dress person, and don’t tend to wear any dresses at all. Love all your anecdotes and funny stories in your daily emails! They brighten my day!

  12. I love, love, L❤️VE everything about today’s post! All the looks r GORGEOUS!!!! Thx so much for ur commitment to this blog!❤️❤️❤️❤️

  13. WOW!!! You look beautiful in all of these dresses! I appreciate the price point on them. Hope you had a wonderful vacation!

  14. Ginger Hiller says:

Great pictures of you in Miami! You look so nice in all of the dresses, Tania. My two favorites are the purple one and the wild floral long sleeve dress. And Lisa also looks very nice in the dress. Another awesome Joe story. Larry told me on our wedding day that he would always make me laugh. I think Joe is trying to do the same thing with you.

  15. I love the purple lace dress! It is gorgeous on you! Also I love the wild tropical print dress on you! I don’t think I would like that big of a print on myself but it looks great on you!

  16. You look wonderful in all of these! I am very petite and am overwhelmed by large prints- wish I could wear them! The bright colors and prints look stunning on you!

  17. Debbie Titus says:

I signed up for Jennifer’s newsletter too! What a great referral to another fashionista whose style I very much admire. The dresses are all amazing and the purses are super cute too!

  18. Beth Cutler says:

love this past especially when your friend tried on your dress.
I’m under 5’3″ wish I could find maxi dresses for “shorties” like me. not petite.

  19. Stephanie Rodriguez says:

The hot pink halter maxi is very far out of my comfort zone but I am in LOVE with it! 🙂 No idea where I will wear it yet but I must have it. LOL. And as a bonus, items on the Red Dress website are reasonably priced.

  20. Beautiful dresses! You look great in all of them.

  21. I love all the dresses! But I don’t think I’d wear long sleeves on vacation to Sicily in July!😄 The hot pink one is more like it!

  22. I agree with Tami. I am 5’4” and these dresses would not look good on me. Could you post dresses for my height? I don’t like anything above the knee. I am 70 yrs old and carry weight in my muffin top. Lol😂 You look beautiful in all the dresses.

  23. I love all the colorful dresses. The crossover halter looks so beachy and fun! Perfect post to brighten my day. Thank you!

  24. Charlotte says:

Love that pink dress! Ordered it right away! I’m still thinking about the white floral.

  25. I think hot pink is your color!! You look great in it and other jewel tones! Thank you for your posts-I have found quite a few things to add to my wardrobe (that I wouldn’t have tried on my own) that I feel confident in. I’m older than 50’s but roughly the same size as you are so I picture you in my head when I’m unsure about something.

  26. Beautiful dresses thanks for the review. At 5’2″ I don’t wear the long dresses. You looked beautiful.

  27. I think the purple dress is the most becoming as it is more fitted. The long-sleeved dress and the hot pink maxi dress seem almost over-whelming. The pink one especially seems to have a lot of fabric which tends to make the eye focus on the dress rather than the woman! I realize a lot of others have already stated they like the pink one best but I’m not sure I agree!

  28. I love all the color but was wondering … being 5’2” I get swallowed up in these dresses. 😂 any suggestions

  29. Beautiful dresses. I just love the purple lace dress! 🥰. Agree tangerine dress isn’t most flattering on you as it wouldn’t be on me either. And the bold dress looked great on Jennifer!!

  30. Thank you for the post, the dresses are beautiful on you, and the bright colors, are just what everyone is seeking after winter months. You are inspiring me to add dresses with color to my closet, which is currently holding 12 black dresses, with a couple of neutral prints. Have a blessed week!

    1. Jenice, I’m slowly adding color to women one closet at a time. Lol!

  31. Beautiful selection of dresses. Love your hair cut, it looks so good on you!

  32. You really look lovely in vibrant colors! I love your style and enjoy your posts!

  33. Laura Long says:

My sister and I have been texting all morning trying to figure out which dress we like best. Neither of us are big dress women, until now!

    1. Laura, that made me smile. I can’t wait to hear which dress or dresses win.

  34. Tania, once again good job on your haul picks! You wear them well!

  35. Beautiful dresses!! You look great in everything you wear. I love the last dress the most. Jennifer should definitely buy it as it looks fabulous on her. It lights up her face:). Thank you for showing us so many options.

    1. That’s what I told her too, Kathy!

  36. Kim Portuesi says:

Wow! Stunning dresses. The 💜 purple is my favorite!

  37. I love all of these looks, but the pink dress is amazing. I haven’t had a vacation since 2005, so I can’t blame the pandemic on that.

    1. Janine, we need to change that! Vacations are so good for the renewing of the spirit.

  38. Lots of great dresses and you look great in all of them!

  39. The hot pink dress is stunning! I like the halter dresses from the front but am not a fan of the open backs. LOL

  40. I can only say WOW! You look great in all the dresses but absolutely stunning in the statement pink dress! I think that is a must for you! And the floral dress is coming in at a close second!
I haven’t heard of the company you purchased these from. It is a worthy company?

    1. Pam, that company is great. The only drawback is the short return window. It is 14 days, which shouldn’t be a problem for most people, but it takes me a while to get photos of my clothing. I prefer a 30-90 window. Lol!

  41. A good morning! I really enjoy your posts each and every day! Love the hot pink halter dress! It is a statement dress that you pull of so well! I just ordered the quilted crossover bag and it’s just what I have been looking for! Thank you!Gail

    1. I’ll probably take that dress with me to Arizona next week. It is stunning.

  42. You do look like a million bucks in those dresses! Loved them! Nice to see Jennifer here too!

    1. Better yet, I FEEL like a million bucks in these dresses. It’s always so fun to meet up with Jennifer!!!

      1. You’re certainly inspiring me to try new things…and color! You look stunning in all of these dresses. I think that bright pink is my favorite! Loved seeing you. Let’s do it again soon. Xo Jennifer
