CHINOS OR JEANS, WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE
Happy Friday! I hope you had a wonderful week and that you escaped getting pinched yesterday. I know that green isn’t a color that everyone embraces, but when it is St. Patrick’s Day, you have to add a smidge of green or suffer the consequences. Lol! Joe barely wore green; he wore his work pants that happened to be Loden green. I doubt if anyone tried to pinch him, though. Hahaha
Usually, I post casual styles of Saturday, but I thought a Casual Friday post was appropriate also. I know a lot of workplaces will relax their clothing rules and allow you to dress more casually. Casual styles are usually way more comfortable, so I don’t know why more companies don’t adopt this policy. I understand that they might not want jeans with holes or graphic tees that express political, religious, or controversial views, especially if you are dealing with the public. But, chinos and jeans with a casual top can be a nice look and work-appropriate.
This white Shirred Henley Blouse would be great worn with anything in your closet. It can be dressed up or down, and I think it would look adorable with shorts and a skirt. The blouse is thin, but it isn’t see-through, but don’t wear a black bra. Lol! I always wear nude undergarments, so I don’t have to worry about them showing through my clothing. I’m wearing a medium, and the top is plenty roomy enough for me. Sizing is getting limited, though, so good luck grabbing your size. Here are a few others that you might like, just in case your size is sold out in this one.
You guys sold out this ivory faux-leather handbag the last time I posted about it! I understand why since it is a great neutral color, had a unique detail with the chain, and the price was under $60. This color might not be available, but a gorgeous chestnut brown is, and you can carry that color all year round.
I’m wearing a pair of Slim Chinos in Seaside Sand. I cuffed the chinos so that you could see the shoes, but I would wear them uncuffed most of the time. I love chinos; they are casual looking and comfortable also. They are a cooler material than jeans, so I reach for them more in the summer months. These chinos come in several colors, so check out all of them. I am wearing a size 8, but they still look a tad big. What do you think?
Platform shoes are trending this year, so I thought I would try a couple of pairs to see if I could find some I like. So far, I like this Kork-Ease pair, but I’m not wild about the style, so I think I’ll try a couple of other styles to see if I can find one I like better. I do like the woodgrain heel and the leather color, but I don’t think this is the style that I want. They do run TTS, and I’m wearing my usual size 9. Here are some others that I’m thinking about.
What if you don’t like chinos? Then, I have another option that you might like. I switched out my handbag, pants, and shoes to create another casual look.
I kept on the same jewelry, and these are pieces that I wear all of the time. My Large Hoop Earrings are one of the first things I ever bought from Kendra Scott, and they are probably two years old. I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth from them. I also wear my 18 Kt. Gold Vermeil Cross daily, and I hardly ever take it off. Next, I have on the Maggie Bangle Bracelet and my David Yurman Cable Loop Bracelet.
Like the Chinos, these jeans are cuffed so that you can see my cute pointy-toe shoes. The Monogrammed Coach Shoes are slingbacks, and I prefer these over slides since I don’t have to worry about them flying off my feet. I like the neutral color and the gold bead detail that runs along the soles. I promise these will look better on me once I have my summer (faux) tan. These run TTS, and I’m wearing a size 9.
The Everyday Relaxed Jeans are in a light wash called Sea Breeze. In the summer months, I like wearing light wash jeans. Light wash jeans are more casual, and dark wash jeans are dressier. Summer seems like a casual time, so I will pick the lighter washes often. There is also a medium wash color and a dark wash color for those who are not a fan of the lighter washes. I’m wearing a size 8, which is what I usually wear in Talbots jeans; however, since these are relaxed jeans, I needed to have gotten a size 6 instead.
I hope you have a fun weekend planned. I’m not doing anything fun, but I might make Joe take me out to eat Saturday night. We tried an excellent restaurant called The Tavern, and the food was INCREDIBLE!!!
We started with baked Brie.
I had stuffed Salmon with Asparagus.
And, Joe had Beef Fillets with Brussel Sprouts. Everything was divine, and I can’t wait to go back again soon.

I love the outfit with the Chinos best.
I like the chinos, and in summer they are so comfortable. My jeans go up to the attic in a month or so. Or maybe next week. But you look great in both outfits, thanks.
Both versions look great! Thank you for showing how a single piece can be styled in different ways for different looks.
I love styling items in more than one way.
Both outfits look great. I love chinos. Especially for running errands. They seem more comfortable than jeans and like you said, cooler too. I would love to see you style loafers with pants instead of sling backs. There are some really cute ones and I would always prefer those in the spring although sandal weather is coming too, already arrived where I live! You look great! Keep up your weight loss journey!
Jeanine, I am trying to style more flats, loafers, etc. but it is taking me a while to get used to wearing them.
Tan and white is so classic and crisp looking. However, my favorite is the jeans and sling back flats. I am a “blue jean mama” and wear mainly flats due to comfort. You look great in both outfits!
Tami, I am a heel lover, so flats always seem foreign to me.
I like them both. I can tell that you are losing weight. I did enjoy your video about that. It would be nice to hear more about what you eat during the day.
I’ve been to the Tavern. Great place.
Paula, that was the first time we had eaten there, but I bet we go back soon.
Love the outfits, and you look great!
Thanks, Joan!
Chinos for sure. They elevate this look from casual to tres chic. You look gorgeous.
That’s a look that I strive for!
I love the chino look it is absolutely stunning
It is so cute, but still casual.
I love the clothes, unfortunately I had two big operations which left my colon stuck to my womb and stomach muscles. I struggle to wear any nice clothing due to the fact that my tummy is so swollen and it makes me look like I have a pot belly. Now I have to wear two sizes bigger and this makes me look and feel awful. Do you have any ideas for bigger women ? I sweat 😓 a lot due to menopause and had to cut off all my hear because I am wet all the time around my head and face.
Tanya, you look great in both! The chinos look crisp and bright. The denim looks put together and comfortable. Love your shoe choice for both. Super cute.
Maureen, I loved the look of both outfits, they just didn’t fit me well.
You look great in both!!! I love the simple look of both of these outfits! My preference is the chinos! Have a wonderful weekend.
I love those! They look so nice.
Tanya you look fabulous!!!! Before you even mentioned it, I thought the chinos were a little too big for you. Wow! size 8 is too large!! I like both outfits, the top is super cute, and I like the flat sling backs best. Love that you and Joe have regular date nights.
Debrah, it’s because they are a relaxed fit, otherwise, a size 8 would work.
Love, love, love both outfits! I’m a neutral loving girl so these are both something I would wear and they look fabulous on you! I have to laugh every time you comment on something running big I want to tell you it’s because You are running small😊your weight loss is evident and you look great…just start buying a smaller size! Have a great weekend.
Lol! I know, Sharon! I haven’t gotten the sizing down pat since I’ve lost weight. I hate for things to fit too tight.
I liked the chinos. I didn’t used to be able to wear that type of pant well, but would love to give them a try. Super cute outfit!
I love the chinos! They are casual and look great.
I think the denim fits better. You look nice in both
Thanks. I am going to have to start ordering smaller clothing.
