CAN YOU WEAR FLORALS WHEN YOU ARE OVER 50
I have the rainy day blues today. My attitude is fine, but the massive amount of rain we’ve had recently has everything gloomy looking. I was sound asleep this morning, but I was jolted awake up by this roaring noise. I immediately recognized that roar, and I knew that the river that runs in front of my house was getting high.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you might have seen me go on my stories and show you the river. On the video, you can hear it roaring and see how high it is on the bridge. I took the photo from the porch that I take my photos from every day, and normally, I can barely even see the river from the porch. A photo doesn’t do the river justice, but I know so many of you aren’t on Instagram, so here is a photo of what it looked like.
I figured that a day like today called for me to wear blues. It is crazy the things that people think us lady’s over 50 can’t do. Someone even asked me the other day if women over 50 could wear florals! I suppose they thought that it was a young print, but we can all enjoy wearing florals, no matter your age. The only thing that I will caution you about is to try to pick a print that mimics your size. Petite ladies probably won’t look the best in giant florals, and plus size ladies don’t look the best in tiny prints.
I recently got this blue tonal floral sweater, and it looked perfect for spring. It is long-sleeved for the cooler temperatures that are still lingering, and the beautiful floral print has me longing to start planting flowers. I know better than to plant flowers this early, but it sure makes me start planing.
Don’t get too attached to this sweater though, as per usual, it has already sold out and is no longer on the website. It was from Loft, but not anymore. However, since florals are trending this year, there are plenty of “similar” things to choose from. I’ll probably order some of them myself, so order yours now before they sell out also. Lol!
I only added my AVI silver hoops, my horizontal cross necklace, and my Shine necklace to this look. It didn’t need much jewelry at all.
This cute flowy button-up blouse is very feminine and flirty. I love the tonal blue vine print, and the ruffled trim at the collar is so cute. The blouse is lightweight and thin, but I don’t have on a camisole, and I don’t think that you can see through it.
I feel like the top is oversized. The top is a medium, and it is still really large on me. You can see that it would be long enough to cover your booty if you were wearing leggings.
I don’t know what has happened to all of my navy pants, but I’ve got to get some new ones on order. This pair is way too big for me, but I wanted to show you how the sweater looks with navy, so I wore them anyway. Chino and cotton twill pants seem to be trending this year, and most looks show them with a rolled-up cuff. That would be a cute way to wear them once the weather warms up, but I am covering my ankles for now. Lol!
The navy suede loafers that I am wearing are by Born, and they are very comfortable. I am trying to wear more flats, but I still feel “off” when I wear them. These loafers run true to size, and I am wearing my usual size 9. Here is a post where I wore these navy loafers with white pants, and I think they look just as cute.
This is the same pair of pants that I wore in this post, and they were sold out then, and they are sold out now. Lol! I need to take them out of my closet so that I won’t take photos with them again. In fact, I think that I’ll tell Joe that I need an “out of stock” closet for things that I can’t link to anymore. Hahaha. Here are some similar ones instead.
I am celebrating this month because it is Joe’s Birthday month. He told me that I couldn’t make a big deal out of his birthday. I don’t think that announcing for the entire world to see is making a big deal. Lol! So, randomly, each week, I am going to pick a winner for a gift. The gifts will vary in size and price, and I will pick the winner from the comments that I receive during the week.

Philippians 1:9-11
9 And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.
Thank you for posting Phil 1:9-11. I love that verse and will be my prayer!! Love your posts. Ordered the chunky green sweater and jeans from Target. It’s my new fav. Warm and cozy on cool spring day. And if I would have not seen your post I would have never stepped out of my rut and ordered that color. Thanks for inspiring me. Tina
I love the blouse, belt and jean combo. The outfit looks great on you.
Th blue floral print looks great. Love the pattern
Absolutely love the sweater and the fit!
I love the floral button up blouse!
Adorable outfits today and love the blue. I can see now why you call yourself in a flood plain. Our rivers here in Texas quickly rise up like that too from rain. It can be scary.
I’m glad you were not flooded by the rising river! Cute sweater and jewelry.
I Love the earrings!! I need to look into those!
Anytime you wear blues I love the outfits since I gravitate towards blue and you can tell that by the clothes in my closet. Love all the outfits today.
Love these bluesy outfits … it’s been pretty chilly here in Louisiana but we are finally moving into Warmer weather this week. So ready to be outside . Thanks sooo much for your styling tips Tanyia!!
I normally don’t gravitate to florals but I love today’s tops. You look pretty in blue.
I love the florals! Your blog is one of my favorites. I come to checkout what you are wearing and your Bible “lessons.” Thanks for what you do!
I love the florals! They look so spring time.
You look very good in blue..
I really like the sweater and the blouse.
I like some dramatic florals, but only if they’re not huge; and I don’t like little flowers at all. However, I don’t naturally gravitate to them when I’m shopping. I would love to have that river in my backyard, but only if it promised to never flood!
I love your ideas of how to put an outfit together! So helpful & done with a Godly perspective.
I’m getting so many great fashion ideas from you lately! I love that you style items from Chico’s and Talbots while also showing items from Target and Walmart. I shop them all!
P.S my hubby will be 65 on March 7th. We never celebrate his because he just isn’t into it. Always celebrate mine though.
I like the blue floral blouse. The flowing river in your back yard is really pretty. Have you ever been flooded out?
Love the blue floral sweater.
I’ll have to go over to Instagram and check out your video. How scary
I love that flowy blouse! Looks very light and springy and it looks so nice on you with those earrings!
I love the floral sweater. It looks super soft and makes me think of spring. Thanks for the similar floral looks. Looks like your diet is working! Time for smaller pants. Good for you!
You’re beautiful in everything you wear! Unfortunately, my clothes are beginning to shrink! LOL!
I think you look great wearing a belt! It’s probably another ‘rule’ that needs to be broken – we can wear belts!
You look FANTASTIC in florals!
Did I miss where you told us about your eating plan? If not, we need your secrets!! Please! You look great!
Love the floral prints today
Love the florals and I love all the links you add to find the items. ❤️
Love that Loft sweater. One of my favorite stores.
Well Happy Birthday month to you Joe….Chase those blues away girl, but they look great!
Hello Tania
Love those blues on you. I wear a lot of blue but flowers are not my thing, I am 5″2, however I really like the sweater. I think that would work for me.
I look forward to your post each day and especially on Sunday. It is always encouraging and uplifting.
Diana, flowers never were my thing either. But, for some reason, I am loving them this year.
Navy blue is one of my favorite colors. I love the blouse on you. I usually shy away from florals.
Haha! Me too, Mary.
Very nice! I really like the blue. Especially the blouse. Wow that river is really high.
The river has gone down nicely. All is back to normal now.
Love the blue! I like seeing the “flat” shoes. I am almost 6 foot tall, so I don’t wear many heels!
I love the floral sweater. It has a european look to me. I’m not a fan of flats, except for my sketchers! Even a one inch heel helps me to feel less “off”, as you said.
I love that blouse on you! So pretty. I feel “flat” when I wear loafers too, and have found that I only really like the look when I can roll up my pants a little bit or I am wearing ankle pants! Those blue loafers sure do ook cute with your jeans. Have a great day:)
You look bluetiful!
Love the blue, just wondering if you could wear the tops with black jeans?
Thanks for sharing. I love the blue florals! They’re beautiful. I just bought a pair of navy pants Sunday.
Happy Birthday to Joe! Today is my sister’s birthday and tomorrow is my Mom’s.
Joe and I have the same birthday month! Happy Birthday, Joe! Hope Tania spoils you and makes a big fuss. Oh, wait! That’s what I hope my husband does. haha I love to wear florals. In fact, my closet is bursting with floral blouses. I have to force myself to buy solid-colored tops. The blouse you are wearing is so cute on you. Love it! Blue is definitely one of my favorite colors. Just looking at that river makes my palms sweat. I almost drowned in a river when I was seven. My dad had to jump in and rescue me! Anyway, that’s a story for another time. 🙂
My mother was 90 when she passed away. She was a beautiful lady and always wore florals. I didn’t know florals had an age limit. Your outfit is beautiful.
The tiny floral top is adorable on you! You have a wonderful sense of style and I enjoy ‘waking up’ to you every morning!
I love the floral sweater! I don’t wear many florals, but that one doesn’t look so busy and seems to be medium sized print. Too bad it’s sold out, but there are probably similar out there. I’m going to shop!
I hope your river stays put! It does look high. I have a lake behind my house and it can get high too. Fortunately there are pumps that pump the water into a river if that happens. Best to you!
Love florals and love your posts!!
Love both outfits on you💕I’m a new subscriber and so happy to have found you. I think both tops would also look great with white jeans and a denim jacket! Love the Birthday month celebration 🎉🎉
Happy Birthday Month Joe! No fuss will be made, 😉. Tanks, I wear chinos to work a lot but find that they can be a bit matronly. Could you do a post on fit and style and how to make them current and modern.
I love florals!! I actually have to steer myself away from them when I’m shopping I have so many. Love both of the looks you’ve styled today! Excited about the little touches of spring you are beginning to add. I hope that river has reached its peak and isn’t going to cause you any issues.
I’m with you on the ankles. All of these sweaters with ankle pants and tennis shoes make my ankles cold!
Love the florals, they look great on you!!
Wow that water is crazy. I would be so worried but I am sure that you are use to it. I love blue it is my favorite color. I love Loft clothes but our Loft doesn’t seem to have cute clothes anymore, I think it is just an outlet now and when you order from Loft you can’t take it to the this store, so crazy.
I really like both options in tops and they are actually very different but look great with denim or chinos. I heard a roar during the night too but it was the wind that followed our Sunday rain! I live in PA and March came in like a lion here! 🙂
Rivers are so pretty and the normal sounds are beautiful. However, rising and flooding rivers are unpredictable. Stay safe! Love the blues on you, very attractive. My fav color, and I’m ready to shop for new spring/summer.
I realized I have several floral dresses but no tops… that’s going to change! Getting used to more flats as well. Lol!
I gave a sweater like the first one or very similar thst I have had since the ‘90s, wear it often in the spring. Hope the river stays in its banks.
The floral sweater is lovely on you and now I am wishing I had ordered it when it first went on sale. Hope the rains stop so Joe doesn’t have to build you an ark. Stay dry.
Thank you for today’s post…I love florals but I always wondered if they look too old-ladyish and you proved that they don’t. Navy is always a good choice. BTW, I loved those Tiosebon shoes so much from yesterday that I ordered 3 pairs; can’t wait to get them!
I have a thing about navy blue – can’t get enough!
You look so good in blue. Love the blue floral sweater and jeans with a belt. I love the belted look but have a short waist. Still going to try it!
Love florals and I’m 66!!! 🙂
The outfits are great – I love navy blue. My sister and I hit the jackpot one time at the Loft in the mall. They had tops similar to the blouse you are wearing in this post on sale for $9.99 each!!! We both bought about 6 tops each. They were so pretty and such a great bargain.
Joe is a lot older than you isn’t it? (Hope that gets me in the giving giveaway group. lol) I love the blue floral sweater@
I like both looks. I need to try and wear more blues
The blue looks great on you! Flats do take some getting used to I agree. Happy Birthday Joe celebrate the entire month!!
I love the navy outfit. It is such a classy color and it goes with so many things.
Love the sweater and the shirt. They both suit you.
Both of those tops are very “me”-love it. Thanks for spreading sunshine
I love to wear blue on rainy days too!
You look great in blue!!!
I luv to wear that color in the spring too!
Love all the outfits today! Blue is my favorite color to wear. You look great! Hope Joe enjoys his birthday month! Mine is this month too!
I love the blue floral prints! They help me to feel the Spring in the air. Have a great day!
Love the floral blouse and jeans!
I like the second look with the flowers blouse. Girl, we’re going to have rain the next 2 days…I’m thinking we may need to go ahead and build an ark!
Love the blue suede flats. I wear flats all the time now and I think they look sophisticated.
If I am going to wear a print I would rather do it on top instead of bottom. 😂. Love that second blouse!
I love the printed blouse
on you. Very feminine.
Sure hope the rain stops soon & the river stays in its banks.
Love the floral print blouse. Very cute on you.
Love Florals and love your posts!!
Wishing Joe a Happy Birthday! Sorry to hear about all the rain, but you’re looking good in your blues!
That floral sweater is as cute as you! Hoping the rains slow down so the river doesn’t flood.
I love blue! I have so much of it in my closet & my home – I have to hold myself back sometimes from adding more!
