I have the rainy day blues today. My attitude is fine, but the massive amount of rain we’ve had recently has everything gloomy looking. I was sound asleep this morning, but I was jolted awake up by this roaring noise. I immediately recognized that roar, and I knew that the river that runs in front of my house was getting high.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you might have seen me go on my stories and show you the river. On the video, you can hear it roaring and see how high it is on the bridge. I took the photo from the porch that I take my photos from every day, and normally, I can barely even see the river from the porch. A photo doesn’t do the river justice, but I know so many of you aren’t on Instagram, so here is a photo of what it looked like.
I figured that a day like today called for me to wear blues. It is crazy the things that people think us lady’s over 50 can’t do. Someone even asked me the other day if women over 50 could wear florals! I suppose they thought that it was a young print, but we can all enjoy wearing florals, no matter your age. The only thing that I will caution you about is to try to pick a print that mimics your size. Petite ladies probably won’t look the best in giant florals, and plus size ladies don’t look the best in tiny prints.
I recently got this blue tonal floral sweater, and it looked perfect for spring. It is long-sleeved for the cooler temperatures that are still lingering, and the beautiful floral print has me longing to start planting flowers. I know better than to plant flowers this early, but it sure makes me start planing.
Don’t get too attached to this sweater though, as per usual, it has already sold out and is no longer on the website. It was from Loft, but not anymore. However, since florals are trending this year, there are plenty of “similar” things to choose from. I’ll probably order some of them myself, so order yours now before they sell out also. Lol!
I only added my AVI silver hoops, my horizontal cross necklace, and my Shine necklace to this look. It didn’t need much jewelry at all.
This cute flowy button-up blouse is very feminine and flirty. I love the tonal blue vine print, and the ruffled trim at the collar is so cute. The blouse is lightweight and thin, but I don’t have on a camisole, and I don’t think that you can see through it.
I feel like the top is oversized. The top is a medium, and it is still really large on me. You can see that it would be long enough to cover your booty if you were wearing leggings.
I don’t know what has happened to all of my navy pants, but I’ve got to get some new ones on order. This pair is way too big for me, but I wanted to show you how the sweater looks with navy, so I wore them anyway. Chino and cotton twill pants seem to be trending this year, and most looks show them with a rolled-up cuff. That would be a cute way to wear them once the weather warms up, but I am covering my ankles for now. Lol!
The navy suede loafers that I am wearing are by Born, and they are very comfortable. I am trying to wear more flats, but I still feel “off” when I wear them. These loafers run true to size, and I am wearing my usual size 9. Here is a post where I wore these navy loafers with white pants, and I think they look just as cute.
This is the same pair of pants that I wore in this post, and they were sold out then, and they are sold out now. Lol! I need to take them out of my closet so that I won’t take photos with them again. In fact, I think that I’ll tell Joe that I need an “out of stock” closet for things that I can’t link to anymore. Hahaha. Here are some similar ones instead.
I am celebrating this month because it is Joe’s Birthday month. He told me that I couldn’t make a big deal out of his birthday. I don’t think that announcing for the entire world to see is making a big deal. Lol! So, randomly, each week, I am going to pick a winner for a gift. The gifts will vary in size and price, and I will pick the winner from the comments that I receive during the week.

Thank you for posting Phil 1:9-11. I love that verse and will be my prayer!! Love your posts. Ordered the chunky green sweater and jeans from Target. It’s my new fav. Warm and cozy on cool spring day. And if I would have not seen your post I would have never stepped out of my rut and ordered that color. Thanks for inspiring me. Tina
I love the blouse, belt and jean combo. The outfit looks great on you.
Th blue floral print looks great. Love the pattern
Absolutely love the sweater and the fit!
I love the floral button up blouse!
Adorable outfits today and love the blue. I can see now why you call yourself in a flood plain. Our rivers here in Texas quickly rise up like that too from rain. It can be scary.
I’m glad you were not flooded by the rising river! Cute sweater and jewelry.
I Love the earrings!! I need to look into those!
Anytime you wear blues I love the outfits since I gravitate towards blue and you can tell that by the clothes in my closet. Love all the outfits today.
Love these bluesy outfits … it’s been pretty chilly here in Louisiana but we are finally moving into Warmer weather this week. So ready to be outside . Thanks sooo much for your styling tips Tanyia!!
I normally don’t gravitate to florals but I love today’s tops. You look pretty in blue.
I love the florals! Your blog is one of my favorites. I come to checkout what you are wearing and your Bible “lessons.” Thanks for what you do!
I love the florals! They look so spring time.
You look very good in blue..
I really like the sweater and the blouse.
I like some dramatic florals, but only if they’re not huge; and I don’t like little flowers at all. However, I don’t naturally gravitate to them when I’m shopping. I would love to have that river in my backyard, but only if it promised to never flood!
I love your ideas of how to put an outfit together! So helpful & done with a Godly perspective.
I’m getting so many great fashion ideas from you lately! I love that you style items from Chico’s and Talbots while also showing items from Target and Walmart. I shop them all!
P.S my hubby will be 65 on March 7th. We never celebrate his because he just isn’t into it. Always celebrate mine though.
I like the blue floral blouse. The flowing river in your back yard is really pretty. Have you ever been flooded out?
Love the blue floral sweater.
I’ll have to go over to Instagram and check out your video. How scary
I love that flowy blouse! Looks very light and springy and it looks so nice on you with those earrings!
I love the floral sweater. It looks super soft and makes me think of spring. Thanks for the similar floral looks. Looks like your diet is working! Time for smaller pants. Good for you!
You’re beautiful in everything you wear! Unfortunately, my clothes are beginning to shrink! LOL!
I think you look great wearing a belt! It’s probably another ‘rule’ that needs to be broken – we can wear belts!
You look FANTASTIC in florals!
