50 IS NOT OLD | DISTRESSED JEANS OVER 40It is finally here, Friday….. That day we all look forward to, the one that makes all the rest of the days bearable. The truth is, I don’t do anything different on Friday than I do the rest of the week, but I know that it means I don’t have to get up early tomorrow. But since we never set an alarm clock, I get up the same time EVERY day. On Saturday you don’t have to get dressed up and put on makeup. You can just lay around the house in your pj’s and watch TV all day long. NOT!!!!! 50 IS NOT OLD | DISTRESSED JEANS OVER 40Someone might come to the door, you need to get your clothes on and put on your 5 minute face. That is a blush, eyeliner, mascara, and some lipstick. Just 5 minutes and you feel so much better about yourself. If you have never watched my makeup routine, (More than 5 minutes Haha) go here. For the written breakdown of products, go here.50 IS NOT OLD | DISTRESSED JEANS OVER 40Let me start with my hair. I have modified it slightly. It has more layers, so no more bob, and the red color is slightly darker. The red was fading so fast, that we decided to darken it some. Honest opinions only, don’t sugar coat it or say something nice if you don’t mean it. Yesterday I showed you my favorite bracelet, and today I am going to show you my favorite necklace.50 IS NOT OLD | DISTRESSED JEANS OVER 40This is the Atlas necklace by Plunder. What makes this necklace so cool, is the fact that YOU personalize the necklace to be anything you want. Some people are HUGE sports fans, so you can get a necklace with their teams favorite colors or symbols. Some people want a certain verse from the Bible, and some have a special saying that is sentimental to them. All of these things can be put in the Atlas, no one else will be wearing your necklace.50 IS NOT OLD | DISTRESSED JEANS OVER 40I added my grandbabies. I took their picture, and cropped it into a circle. I then added the text to say My Blessings. For the metal tag, I added Nana, which three of them call me, and NeeNee, which Emersyn calls me. These make great Christmas gifts, I am giving one to each of my DIL’s, and I probably will do one also for a few other people. These cost 28.00, and makes a one of a kind gift.50 IS NOT OLD | DISTRESSED JEANS OVER 40I wore a camouflage shirt a couple of days ago, that you gurls seemed to like, so today I went with camo on my lower half. I thought it might hide a few of those pesky pounds, but no such luck. I bought these distressed camo jeans last year at TJ Maxx, and truthfully I was not sure what I thought about them. I have NEVER owned a pair of camo pants before. I had only been doing the blog a couple of months, and I thought that these would be outside my comfort zone, so I decided to give them a try. Besides the print, there is the matter of the distressing. I know some of you are not huge fans, but it gives such a youthful appearance.

50 IS NOT OLD | DISTRESSED JEANS OVER 40I know you have been eyeing my booties. These are truly adorable, and I just received them. White Mountain Shoes contacted me about a collaboration, and since I already wear some of their shoes, I knew they had quality shoes. I picked out two pairs of shoes, well actually both pairs are boots for the upcoming fall and winter season. I got this pair in the mail, tried them on, and ran back to the house and re-took my pictures. I had on another pair of boots, but when these came, those went out the back door. It was like they knew I would be wearing this outfit today. Lol! 50 IS NOT OLD | DISTRESSED JEANS OVER 40These are called the Serving Taupe Suedette Bootie. The heel is 3.5″, just perfect for me, I wore them all day with no discomfort at all. When you put on a new shoe, you have to worry about them hurting, but these fit perfect and were comfortable. I wear a size 9 in most shoes, and these run true to size. The lace up detail is what sold me on these booties. Maybe there is a little retro vibe going on with the lace-up, I don’t know, I just know they are cute as can be. 50 IS NOT OLD | DISTRESSED JEANS OVER 40Oh yeah, the rest of my outfit. I have on a plain tank top from Old Navy, and a charcoal blazer. My rusched sleeve charcoal blazer is a couple of years old. However, it is still on QVC, and comes in an array of colors. The sleeves on this blazer set it apart from the pack. I almost always wear a jacket or a cardigan. They help hide any rolls around my waistline, and they create a smaller waist illusion. I even wear this jacket over long sleeves in the winter, see here. The ivory purse goes with almost anything, I could carry this purse all year round.

50 IS NOT OLD | DISTRESSED JEANS OVER 40You can see that I have a few Halloween items out already, I am gearing up!!! I loved all your suggestions for Halloween costumes, and after seeing my outfit today, maybe I’ll go as Elmer Fudd, and get Joe to go as Bugs Bunny. Hahahaha That will be the day…………

Be sure to check out white mountain, they have really good quality shoes, that we can all afford. I can’t wait to show you my second pair. They are a knee boot, and since we are going through a cold spell here, they may make their début really soon.

This is the last time you will here me say this, today is the last day you can order the Redefine AMP It Up Special from Rodan and Fields. Here is my videos (one and two) of my skin care routine. Love love love the outfit!!
    I am a camo girl.

  2. I love your hair, but I’m not a fan of the distressed look – on anybody. Last week I criticized my 35 year old daughter for wearing a pair of distressed jeans for a doctor’s appointment. Later I felt bad for doing it, telling her that I still think people should dress up for appointments. She was going for comfort.

  3. I am 5’8″ and did not usually wear a heel , except I have decided my foot/heel problem feels better if I have a heel on, how tall are you ? I am not so sure about wearing a 3-1/2″?

    1. I know your question is for Tania, but I just have to answer. I’m 5’7″, my daughter is 5’8″ and my daughter-in-law is 5’9″. We all wear heels when we feel like it (which is often.) Wear what you love and what makes you feel good. Rock those heels and hold your head high!

  4. Love your hair looks more ‘edgy’.

  5. Love the look. You know how the make everything work together. Grey boots are the ideal compliment to the navy and camo—Perfect choice.

Thank you for making my mornings….I love to see your posts each day and you are my favorite blogger (and I review a lot!)

    1. Thanks Chris. That is such a nice thing to say! ?

  6. Mindy Hayes says:

Tania, uou are a hoot!!! Love your hair. Getting mine cut (trimmed) tomorrow. I love how those boots lace up but I can’t wear more than an inch and a half heel. Haven’t found camo pants I like but I fid order 2 camo tops from Amazon. Can’t wait to get them. Talk to ya soon. Have a blessed weekend.

  7. I personally love your hair. It is all sass and no brass. Seriously, it looks great!

Love the outfit. I had not worn distressed jeans since my Guess ones “back-in-tha-day,” until I saw yours last fall. I purchased a skinny pair and love them….wearing them today, btw. They are not as distressed as yours (no skin shows through), but I still get the look. As far as camo, I have a pair of camo leggings that are AWESOME! I pair them conservatively, which my daughter says makes me look like a “bad-a$$, classy b!tch.” Not sure it’s a compliment, but she has copied the look. LOL Gotta have a pair of those booties. Jeez…I just bought a new pair of black TOMS ones off zulily this week. But I don’t have a gray pair. Must have gray too!!!

    1. That is a “high” compliment!!!

  8. Love the shoes, love the hair. Honestly I feel NO ONE should wear camo anything unless they are in the active service! And distressed doesn’t look youthful it looks homeless. That said…. I love your blog and have hacked several of your outfits. Love your style (most of the time) Have a good weekend Lady

    1. Lesley, I knew there would be some flack for the distressed look. It is not for everyone, but I liked the look. Thanks for following, and I like honest opinions:)

  9. I love the look! Your jeans rock & you look so young & thin in them! And I like the darker red in your hair! I wish I knew how to make one of those pictures so I could have that necklace too! Hey, and tell me – what is the significance of that ring you wear all the time on right hand w/the blue stones in it? It’s lovely!

    1. Charlcy, all you have to do is decide on the picture you would like in the necklace. Email it to me, and I will do a “mock-up” so that you could see what the end product would look like. The ring was an anniversary gift from Joe for our 10th anniversary. It is a black opal.

  10. Melesa Garrison says:

You look so cute. I can’t get away from my BOB haircut, I love yours, but I have a very round face and I really think it works for me. I’m not sugar coating, but your hair looks great and I love the color. I think I would like some camo pants. I have distressed jeans and I’m 54. I really don’t care anymore about the age thing, If I like something and I don’t look totally ridiculous, I’m wearing it!

    1. I’m 56 Melesa, and I have gotten old enough that I don’t care what others think. Except for Joe, I’ll let him chime in. Haha

  11. I love your outfit! I am not a fan of distressed jeans at all. My daughter works for Madewell and wears them all of the time. It’s a trend I, personally do not understand. Love the camo with gray and agree with everyone else your hair is super cute and flattering. Have a great weekend.

    1. You would blow your daughter’s mind if you wore a pair. Lol!

  12. KarenJones says:

You look so cute!!! I love the pants!!! I think this is VERY SLIMMING!

    1. I think the jacket helps with the slimming. Jackets always make me look thinner. They hide a multitude of humps and bumps. Lol!

  13. Malissa Williams says:

Love the hair and the outfit! Love the Plunder necklace. My grand babies call me “Shug” short for Sugar. I would love to have this for my grand babies picture! All together a great post!! Have a blessed weekend!!

    1. Malissa, we can make that happen. All you have to do is pick out the picture you would like in a necklace. I can make a “mock up” so you can see what it would look like. Email me if you want one.

  14. I am a big fan of the outfits you put together, but this one not so much. Camo and distressed together, my opinion not a good match for us ladies trying to look well dressed and put together. I honestly think we need to leave that look for the much younger girls….sorry

    1. Dianne, it is not a look for everyone. I knew that when I put it on the blog, but I like to try new things. I never know what I will like, until I try.

  15. robjodiefilogomo says:

My step mom (my 60’s model) loves White Mountain shoes—she thinks they are the most comfy ever—I may have to try them with 2 testimonials now!!
As for distressed jeans…I have a pair. But I still feel somewhat silly in them. Hopefully I’ll get over it soon, or the style will leave? Ha ha

    1. Jodie, the shoes are really comfortable. They have some really cute styles too.

  16. I like your hair a lot. It’s lighter than mine, but I put red in mine all the time, or the hairdresser does, lol. I turned 47, :/ this month and I love distressed jeans. That’s not all I own, but I wear both shorts and jeans distressed. I think they look cute, it’s not all I wear, but there’s no reason for it not to be an option. Keep it up! You look great! You make casual look dressy, lol!

  17. Beverly Norris says:

I like distressing to a certain point. I have jeans that have a little tear above the knee, the back pocket and the hip area. When I see women wearing jeans that have almost no material on the thighs, I think it’s time to throw them out!

    1. Love your new hair colors Tania….perfect for fall. I finally jumped on the distressed jeans wagon and did my own ….not a lot of distressing….easing into this trend…lol..but loving it…heck I’m only 54….sweet boots!

  18. shoeprincezz says:

Love it ALL! My Saturdays are still hectic for me even though I don’t have to wake up at 5 a.m. I sleep in until 7,then it’s full makeup and a cute funky outfit (like you are wearing) and I am have to the salon for my bi-weekly blowout. The salon girls are young and fun and we always enjoy talking about clothes. When I leave I am set for the day and go shopping, meet friends for lunch, take my granddaughters to gymnastics or just wing it! Love your blog!

    1. Being around younger women, keeps you young. I love hanging out with the younger generation, I think I am their age. Haha

  19. Glenda Braun says:

I really like the layers in your hair and the color. I like more layers.
The look is cute. That would be out of my box. Lol. Will have to think on that.

    1. It is not a look for everyone, but that is alright. You never know till you try. ?

  20. hinesley7 says:

Love Love Love the new haircut! I personally like the lighter color better, but you always look adorable.

    1. This will lighten also. It is still fresh, so I am waiting to see what color it will end up going.

  21. Definitely an awesome all around look!!! And your hair looks GREAT 🙂 Isn’t it fun to experiment with cuts and colors?
Have a great day, and thanks for the inspiration!

    1. I don’t mind experimenting with my hair. It will grow, and I can always change the color. Lol!

  22. I like your outfit. I thought about buying some camo pants but the distressed wouldn’t work for me. Holes in pants are a no, no at my job. Love your hair. I went with a much darker red, violet, & blonde this time & I love it! It’s fading…which makes me sad. Don’t you just love the cooler weather??!! Have a great weekend!

    1. Some work dress codes would not allow distressing or maybe even camo, but there is always the weekend. lol!

  23. I think your hair looks great. It’s the first thing I noticed. Also this outfit is very flattering on you. So slim and trim. Love the booties too. This whole look is a winner.

    1. I used to be afraid of the skinny jeans, but they actually make you look thinner. I am now a huge fan!

  24. You totally rock this look and the boots are the icing on the cake! I will definitely use this for inspiration and I’m 57.

    1. Great Janet! This is an easy look to duplicate.

    1. That sounds like so much fun, Yvonne!

    1. Cute and comfortable!!!

  25. Great pants! I m not sugar coating, I just like this hairdo better! It s a bit more ,,playfull,, I dont think thats the correct word. Have a great , and dresses up and makedup!, weekend!

    1. Thanks Nancy. I have a round face, so I worried about the layers adding more poundage. I don’t need any MORE!!!?

  26. I’m with you on waking up at the weekend, I think it’s just knowing that you don’t HAVE to that makes it seem special! I like the camos with the structured jacket and those boots are spot on. Your hair looks super with the layers and the darker colour is nice for the change of season ?

    1. Thanks Caroline! The hair cut is subtle, but I like it.

  27. Personally I like a little destressing but not the destroyed rips and tears look. I like the camo pants and the fit is good on you but … I have nearly the same booties from White Mountain and like you say, they are super comfortable for all day wear. Enjoy your Friday.

    1. I like distressing too. I have a pair that have gone past distressing, with HUGE holes, and I am not a fan. I prefer the look of these camo pants.
