A CLASSIC SUMMER OUTFIT THAT WILL NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE
Everyone needs a go-to outfit that you know can grab and go. You want the outfit to be stylish and to look great on you. You get bonus points if it is a classic outfit that will never go out of style.
A blogging friend called her go-to outfit a “uniform.” She didn’t mean that it was an outfit that she had to wear every day, but something that she knew she could count on when she had to get dressed in a hurry. I actually have a couple of “uniforms” that I can count on, and I am sharing one of them with you today.
Classic Summer Outfit
To keep your outfit from going out of style, you need to choose classic pieces. When I think of classics, I think of Coco Chanel and Audrey Hepburn. My look is not in their league, but it is still a classic outfit and one that I bet all of you already own. You might need to update some of your pieces, but that is up to you.
My classic summer outfit consists of black and white pieces. Easy Peasy! I chose solid colors instead of a print or pattern because this is an easy look that can be replicated and worn at any time.
Let’s start with my black v-neck t-shirt. You can purchase an expensive tee or one that is only a few dollars. The main difference between the shirts will be the thickness of the material and the price. Lol! If you intend to keep the tee for a long time, then you can invest more. If you are willing to purchase a new tee every year or every other year, you can go the inexpensive route.
My v-neck black t-shirt is an inexpensive one. It is from Target, and there is nothing special about my tee. However, it is silky and flowy, and I love that it feels good against my skin and doesn’t show my rolls. I am wearing a large and I like the way that it fits. Here are some others that you might like also.
These shoes are so gorgeous! I love the style of these shoes, but the comfort level leaves a little something to be desired.
There are times when I will forgo comfort for style. If I am not going to be walking for miles, or standing on my feet for a long period of time, then I will grab these shoes for the style level. I’ll link some similar shoes below, and if you are looking for a pair of Chanel shoes, I would suggest checking out sites like The Real Real. They guarantee the authenticity of their gently loved items, and you can grab really nice items for a fraction of the original cost. Here is the pair that I have on, but in a size 10 if anyone is interested.
The black leather handbag that I am carrying is a nice size. But, I am not a fan of the stiffness of the material. It almost feels like faux leather and not luxurious at all. If you notice, I still have the packaging in the tote because this will be going back. I was still going to link to the bag and let you decide for yourself, but it is all sold out. You didn’t miss a thing, so don’t worry about it. I’ll link to some others instead.
BTW, don’t pay any attention to the widgets (the photos where I show similar items.) They might say SOLD OUT, but the items are actually in stock. Also, they aren’t showing the sale prices correctly, so click on it and check it out if you like something. The Tory Burch handbag above is on sale for $299.00, so you can see that it is a great deal, although the widget does not show that.
You know that I love a great pair of white jeans. I will wear them all year round, even after Labor Day. Lol! So, I might have a problem passing up cute jeans and need an intervention. I added this gorgeous pair by J.Jill to my massive inventory, and I love this pair. They are very lightweight and feel so silky against my skin.
As you can see, they are somewhat loose on me. Normally I order an 8 in J.Jill jeans, but because the description called them a slim fit and suggested sizing up, I ordered a size 10. I probably should have ordered the 8 instead.

Hard to pick just one. I liked something in them all. I would pick #6 if I was forced.
Just ordered the dress in Look One, on sale 🙂 Nice classic outfit, t-shirt & jeans (but gotta wear comfortable shoes!) 🙂
I hope you love the dress, but grabbing it on sale is fabulous!
I like the 1st look book. But those are the colors I wear, so I’m always going to like that!
1 is the only choice that includes colors I can wear. I am not crazy about the styles. I like the style of 6 but there is no way I could wear those colors!
Black and white is easy peasy and looks so good on those of you who aren’t completely washed out by those colours. I can do the white jeans because they aren’t close to my face, but not the black t-shirt. I could do a similar look with navy though and I love the slightly nautical vibe of navy and white together.
Hope you had a great time celebrating your Dad’s birthday!

I like 8,9,&10.
I hope that your dad had a very happy birthday! I like your uniform because with different accessories, you can create a whole new look. I have what a call my “go-to” outfits, which are basically my uniform. As far as the look books, I liked #2, #9, and #10 the best.
Love the look books! Gives me ideas for outfits!
That jumpsuit in #7 is gorgeous! I was considering buying it then saw that it zips in the back. You would always have to have someone with you to help unzip when the need to use the restroom arises. Lol
lookbook 11 and 9. Love the uniform idea. Mine is black and white too.
Loving the Lookbook boards!
I am not good putting outfits together and you always do a fabulous job!
1. white pants, blue tank, blue striped shirt unbuttoned over it, blue/white sneakers. Small blue cross body.
2. Black pants, black loafers, black purse, chambray shirt or to be dressier a black, tiny white polka dot blouse.
3. Light wash jeans, pink stripe shirt, pink tennis shoes. Straw purse.
Black windbreaker or denim jacket if it’s cold
These work for me as a quick go to outfit.
I like #8, but there are elements of each one that I like also. Great post!
Love your blog!! What is your “uniform” for a Saturday where you have to move a child to college or a senior into Assisted Living to give 2 examples.
I struggle in this area.
Look forward to hearing from you.
I like the look book idea. Look #4 is my favorite today.
I love the look books!!! # 7 & 8 for sure!!
I like #2 since it is closest to my style however I always like all your lookbook outfits. I almost fell off the couch when I saw the price of those Chanel shoes!! 😳 😬
good morning Tania, I must say the boards are interesting but do not compare to what you wear. I still really love 4. have a great day!
Look book #9 is for me! Thanks for including J.Jill!
I love the idea of a “uniform”. I have a few of my own.
I ordered the grey tee from yesterday before you changed the link. I can see the confusion they are very similar. At least they had that one in my size! It’s all about making clothes work for you, not the other way around.
Love the LookBook boards!
I love #8. The denim shirt is cute. I like the idea of pairing it with the print pants. The jewelry is great too.
