I firmly believe that the right pair of heels can totally transform an outfit. Whether you’re heading to a big event or just want to feel a little more polished, having a few key pairs in your wardrobe makes all the difference when it comes to putting together an outfit. Today, I’m sharing my top 7 must-have heels that every stylish woman should have in her closet. From classic staples to trendy picks, these heels are not only going to elevate your shoe game, but they’ll keep you looking fabulous for any occasion.

7 Must-Have Heels for Every Fashionable Woman

1. The Classic Black Pump

Thick Patent Solid Pointed Toe

If there’s a true classic pair of heels out there… it’s the black pump! These heels are like the little black dress of footwear—timeless, elegant, and ready for just about anything. Whether you’re heading out for a fun night with friends, dressing up for a cocktail party, or even attending a more somber event, black pumps always fit the bill. Aim for a medium heel height, around 3-4 inches, to keep things comfortable!

My Recommendations for Classic Black Pumps:

  • My slingback shoe collection keeps growing, and I’m not sad about it! These patent pointed toe shoes are so versatile. Perfect for a funeral, graduation, church, and so much more!
  • These Coach pumps are sold by the Coach Outlet, which means they are designer shoes on a budget! I consider that a win! These are my go-to for when I want to look fab-u-lous!
  • I have and love these heels in royal blue, but I can’t find many outfits to wear them with, so I wish I had grabbed them in black, too.

2. Nude Heels

Nude heels are my go-to for a reason. They not only give the illusion of longer legs, but they also let your outfit take center stage without competing for attention. Whether you’re wearing bold prints, bright colors, or neutrals, nude heels seamlessly tie everything together. The key is finding the right shade that matches your skin tone so it looks like they were made just for you. They’re versatile, reliable, and a must-have in any wardrobe.

My Recommendations for Nude Heels:

  • These heels are super elegant, making them a great pick for dressier events like weddings. The slingback has an elastic strap, so it should fit comfortably. Plus, the heel is just over 2 inches, which I think is the perfect height—stylish but still easy to walk in.
  • If you’re looking for something that’s both stylish and easy to walk in, a nude wedge like this is a great choice. The wedge design gives you the height you want without the discomfort of traditional heels, making it perfect for all-day wear.
  • These low block heels are a great option when you need something dressy without wearing a sky-high stiletto. I love that they have a cushioned footbed, so you can wear them comfortably for long periods of time!

3. Statement Heels

Faux Leather Tall Stovepipe Boots

Every woman needs a pair of statement heels in her closet—the kind that turns heads and sparks conversations. These heels are bold in color, pattern, or design, making them the focal point of your outfit. Statement heels are perfect for making an impression or adding a pop of personality to a more subdued ensemble. When adding a statement heel, I try to keep the rest of my outfit simple so the shoe can be the star of the show!

My Recommendations for Statement Heels:

  • Red and wine colors are trending this year, and these faux leather tall stovepipe boots are an easy way to incorporate them into your wardrobe. I paired them with a leopard dress above, but you could also go with a skirt/sweater combination!
  • Slingbacks and kitten heels are trending, and I love that they have a dressy look without the extra heel height. This pair has a gorgeous plaid design!
  • You’re going to get sick of me talking about leopard print, but it’s everywhere currently! Here’s a fun pair of leopard heels I had to share!
  • These red heels will be perfect for Christmas, Valentine’s Day, or just a date night with your hubby.

4. Metallic Heels

Metallic heels are the perfect way to add a little sparkle to your outfit, especially for evening events or special occasions. Whether you’re into classic gold, sleek silver, or something a bit different like rose gold or bronze, these heels can instantly elevate your look and help you stand out. What’s great is that metallic heels are more versatile than you might think—they pair beautifully with all kinds of colors and styles, making them a fun and stylish addition to your wardrobe.

My Recommendations for Metallic Heels:

  • I own and love these Block-Heeled Mule Sandals in two different colors, one of which is a fun metallic silver! The backless style makes them a breeze to get on and off on my way in and out of the door, and the block heel makes them feel super stable when I’m walking around.
  • These adorable Slingback Low Heel Pumps look very expensive, but they are only around $60! They come in a rainbow of colors (think everything from chic beige to fun floral prints). I recommend sizing up in these!
  • I also wanted to share this stunning pair of metallic shoes from Aerosoles! I love the platform style, especially with the subtle texture!

5. Ankle Boots with Heels

Ankle boots with heels are a must-have for fall and winter! They work great with everything from skinny jeans to dresses, making them an easy go-to choice when you want to look put-together without too much fuss. Plus, they’ll keep your feet warm and cozy when the temperatures start to drop this winter! I suggest going for a pair in classic black or brown for maximum versatility, although a bold color would be fun to wear, too!

My Recommendations for Ankle Boots with Heels:

  • These were my go-to boots last year and probably will be this season as well! They run true to size, and they have a thick, chunky heel that makes them very stable.
  • These boots have a higher heel than most I share, but I know some of you gurls love a high heel! They would look amazing with tights and a skirt this fall and winter. For an inexpensive boot, these have great reviews and a 4.4-star rating.
  •  These boots have a chunky 2.5-inch heel and a thick sole. They are available in a ton of different colors, and the best part? They are under $30!

6. Wedges

I love wearing wedges! They’re the perfect mix of style and comfort, giving you that extra height without the wobble of traditional heels. The solid support makes them super easy to walk in, so you can rock them all day without any fuss. Whether you’re dressing up with a dress or keeping it casual with your favorite jeans, wedges are going to be a great choice!

  • These wedges are gorgeous and would look amazing with dress pants! The chic hardware chain detailing and pointed toe add a touch of glam, while the fully padded lining and insole ensure all-day comfort.
  • If you love a colorful shoe, check out this wedge. They strike the perfect balance between a closed toe and an open silhouette, giving you the best of both worlds and the perfect transition shoe from summer to fall.

7. Strappy Sandals

 Clear Strap Wedge Shoes

Strappy sandals are a summer essential, offering a delicate and airy option for warm-weather occasions. Whether you prefer a block heel for added stability or a stiletto for a more daring look, strappy sandals can add a touch of elegance to any outfit.

My Recommendations for Strappy Sandals:

  • The Clear Strap Wedge Shoes have been a favorite of mine for two summers. I love that they can be worn with anything, and the wedge heel makes walking easier.
  • The Vionic Ankle Straps Heeled Sandal looks great and is also SO comfortable. I love that they have a velcro closure that looks like a normal buckle, but it is MUCH EASIER to fasten.
  • These strappy heels check multiple boxes since they are nude AND strappy. Plus, they’re by Naturalizer, which means they are super comfy!
  • This pair of metallic strappy heels will look so cute if you have a fall or winter wedding on your calendar to attend!

  9. I think I have most of these in my closet. I tend to wear flats more often, but I like to have nice heels around for when I want to feel “tall(er)”. I know I’m not fooling anyone, though. I still am petite, even in heels. 🙂 LOL!

  16. Fall is not around the corner for my state. It’s 80 at 730 am. Another heat warning today. I have most of the heel recommendations. I recently bought sandals with lower heels in the 2 inch range. I didn’t even wear my 3 inch heels this summer.

  17. Love the jeans you have on with the soffit taupe bootie, and the booties!

That was one of my kids favorite movies growing up too! so glad you are getting cool weather!! Please send to Texas, we are under a severe heat warning!!

  23. Carol Ann Jablonski says:

So many of your options have a pointed toe. Pointed toe shoes/boots hurt my feet; they don’t hurt your feet?

    1. Carol Ann, I prefer a pointed toe because they elongate your leg. You might want to try a wide if they are available and see if that helps.

  24. Susan Sailor says:

I love slingbacks that have an actual buckle so you can custom-fit the strap around your heel!
