I know many of you are wondering what footwear to purchase for autumn and winter, and I’ve been busy scouting the latest shoe trends for the coming months. It looks like we’re going to see some of the same trends as last year, plus a few new ones! Keep reading to see the 2024 fall shoe trends I’m loving, as well as one I won’t be trying.

Knee High Boots Are in Style For Autumn 2024
Knee-high boots are making a huge comeback this fall, and I couldn’t be more excited! I LOVE a great pair of tall boots. Maybe it’s my childhood love of Black Beauty and National Velvet or seeing my niece in her riding gear, but I always feel like I’m an equestrian superstar when I wear a pair. I wear them almost any time except in summer.
These gorgeous croc-embossed knee boots from Nordstrom are perfect for fall. I love the unexpected colors, and they look so CHIC! Olive, or moss, is a neutral, so you can wear these with anything.
They’re perfect for adding a touch of sophistication to any outfit while keeping your legs warm and toasty. Whether you go for a sleek leather pair for a polished look or opt for a cozy suede style for a more laid-back vibe, knee-high boots are incredibly versatile. Pair them with everything from dresses to leggings, and you’ll be effortlessly stylish all season long.
Not only are these suede chunky block heel knee boots on trend, but they are also comfortable. I wasn’t expecting the comfort level to be so high. It might be partly because I ordered the wide calf by mistake, but I’m not mad. Lol!
Kitten heels are on-trend for fall! These light beige suede boots look great with my faux leather dress, but I can’t wait to wear them with jeans and a blazer.

Biker, Moto Boots, and Lug Sole Boots Are Trending In 2024
Biker and moto boots are cool, chunky boots with a tough-guy look. They usually have big, bold buckles and a sturdy build, making them great for adding a bit of edge to your outfits. I started riding motorcycles in middle school, so this trend is perfect for me. Throw on a bomber jacket and a pair of jeans with these moto boots, and you are automatically three times edgier.
Lug sole boots, on the other hand, have thick, ridged soles that make them super comfy and great for walking around. They’re the perfect mix of style and practicality while still having an edgier look than a regular boot or bootie! Plus, their grippy soles give you great traction on rainy fall or winter days.

Platform Loafers Are Great For Fall
Platform loafers are a fun twist on the classic loafer, adding some extra height with a chunky sole. They combine the sophistication of traditional loafers with a bit of modern flair, making them perfect for dressing up or down. Whether you’re heading to the office or just out and about, platform loafers give you a little lift and a lot of style. These are a little out of the box for me, but I did try this pair last year and really liked them with the right pair of denim.
I know some of you can’t wear platform shoes, so I’m including other loafers for you. There are times when we have to compromise on style for comfort and safety, so wear what is best for you.
These are soft and comfortable, and the color is perfect to wear with all your fall clothing.
Mules And Loafers
I’ve worn these Camel Suede Loafer Mules already with a pair of jeans. These are great for those who want the fall look without the added warmth.
I guess all I need now is a penny. Lol! Raise your hand if you get this reference!
Incorporating The Trending Color Red
In my post on Tuesday, I talked about red being a trending color for fall. Red is an unexpected color for loafers, but I love these!
They look a little out of place with this outfit, but wait until you see me style them later this year with jeans. I have a feeling I’ll be wearing these loafers on repeat. I also ordered this square-toe pair of Mary Jane Flats. I’ve seen others styling them, and they look adorable. I hope I will look that cute in them.

Square Toed Shoes
Square-toed shoes have a unique, modern look with their sharp, squared-off toe, which sets them apart from the usual rounded or pointed styles. Whether you’re rocking them with jeans or a dress, square-toed shoes add a cool, contemporary touch to any outfit. The Tory Burch rounded-toe ballet shoe is no longer “in style,” but don’t fret; I’m sure they’ll be back in a few years. Lol!
They’re surprisingly comfortable, giving your toes a bit more room to breathe. I haven’t added any square-toed boots to my collection yet, but I’m on the hunt!
I know you gurls love Vionic shoes as much as I do! These Lightweight Slingback Flats are perfect for wearing now while the weather is hot. They are ballet flats and a slingback shoe combined with a colorblock toe. How chic can you get?

Ways To Wear Kitten Heels In Fall
These plaid Kitten Heel Pointed-Toe Slingback Pumps are from Sam Edelman. They are super cute in person, and several people asked about them. They look great with straight-leg pants, but I can’t wait to wear them with a pair of wide-leg jeans. Pointy-toe shoes make your legs look longer, and we all need that since wide-leg jeans can have too much volume.
Slingbacks and kitten heels are trending, and I love that they have a dressy look without the extra heel height. They are chic and fashionable, and the straps are comfortable to wear.
Square-toe shoes are trending, but these mules have pointy toes, and they will make your legs look a mile long. Mules and slingbacks are great transition shoes to fall since the back is open, but the toe is closed.

Sneakers That Are Trending For Fall
Sneakers are everywhere, but “certain” sneakers are more trendy than others. Remember the Golden Goose sneakers? Well, those are not trending any longer. One of the “it” sneakers of the moment is the Samba. My mini-me asked for a pair for her birthday, and I decided I needed a pair too. How was she supposed to be my mini-me if we didn’t match?
To transition this outfit to fall, I’d throw on a denim jacket, sunglasses, and the sling bag from yesterday’s post. That would make the outfit look put-together.
Somehow, Nike always seems to have a trending sneaker. Chunky styles like the Air Max 90 Futura Sneaker flew out the door during the Nordstrom Sale, but this pair has just come back in stock.
The colors in this sneaker are great for fall. I’m not sure I can get used to this shoe because of the large black swoosh. I like the Sambas, so I’ll probably keep those and send these back.

Fall Trend I Won’t Be Wearing: Furry Shoes
Furry shoes are apparently going to be all the rage this season. I have to admit they’re just not my thing. They might be cozy and eye-catching, but I prefer sticking to more classic styles that can easily mix and match with my wardrobe. The styles I’ve seen make me think of something I would see grandpas wearing. Lol! I’ll be admiring this trend from afar, you gurls won’t find me slipping into any furry footwear this fall.

I like your simple outfit of white jeans and the black sleeveless top. It looks cool and refreshing. You also look so slim in that outfit. I love the pop of red with the shoes. I like tall knee high boots and short ankle ones. Those are my go to. I like the look of the moto boots also. Definite no on the fuzzy shoes.

Are you talking about leggings with boots? I’m not seeing that look as much as before. But, I’m still seeing people wearing them as athleisure wear with sweatshirts and sneakers.
I can only wear flats if they have a square toe. My feet don’t like round toes. I wish I could find tall boots for skinny calves. The Vionic slingbacks are so cute. I won’t wear furry shoes unless it’s a trim to keep you warm.
I’ve also noticed square toe shoes are back. right t, not a fan, but I’ll probably get used to it! I like loafers and booties once the temperature drops.
I love a loafer! Flat or lug sole–unfortunately the lug soles are too heavy for me–I’ll stick with the flats and Addias sneakers!!
Most of these are too expensive and not supportive. I like the biker or motor boots but can’t get them on my foot!

*Raising hand* Penny loafers, yes! Back in the day, I had a pair of Bass loafers, and yes, I wore them with a penny. Ironically I didn’t love the look, not one bit, but just wore them to “fit in”… something which I no longer do. Now I only wear what I like. 🙂 As for the trends this fall, I love knee high boots, platform and regular loafers as long as they have a cute, chic detail that I love (ex: I have a pair of leopard print loafers that I adore (and no penny!)), and yes I do have one pair of deep burgundy red ballet flats that I wear when the mood strikes me. My casual sneaker of choice – Tretorn. I have some other shoes saved in my Nordstrom wish list, a couple of slingback kitten heels are among the pairs. I’m contemplating them, to see if I feel they are really “me” before I purchase.
I’ve had my eye on those Steve Madden black strappy kitten heel sling backs this week! Great minds think alike!

They aren’t as red as they look in the photo. They are more muted, but I love them.
Been hemming and hawing for some time between the classic black ballet flat or the trendy Mary Jane’s. Just ordered the Max Square toe Mary Jane’s in black sand. A nice bit of texture to the look. I fondly remember the Mary Jane trend in the late 70’s when I was a teen. They were black canvas from China and we wore them with pastel colored anklets. Always fun to see how trends come back around!
I’m not a fan of the kitten heels but I’m all in for lug soles, moto, square toes and sneakers! I just ordered a pair of Franco Sarto lug loafers and Nike sneakers. Not ready for fall just yet but getting the shoe game on point! That faux leather shirt dress and suede boots are gorgeous on you.
