WHAT TO WEAR WHEN YOU STAY AT HOME
Someone commented yesterday on the blog about sharing a recipe for all of having to cook because we are staying home. I think that is a wonderful idea! I know that I need simple and easy recipes, especially now. As I said yesterday (here), I like one-pot meals, Insta-pot meals, Crock-pot meals, etc. As far as I am concerned, the simpler, the better! So, if you have a simple and easy recipe, please share it with everyone. I’ll include the Lemon Pound Cake recipe that Joe loves at the end of the post.
Speaking of Joe, I came home yesterday to find him up in the air…literally! He had a bucket truck down at the house, and he decided to change out the flag on our flagpole. The flag that we had up was looking pretty ratty from the winter, and he had ordered a new one a couple of months ago.
Just looking at this photo makes me a little emotional. It is time that we come together, not only as a Nation but as people of the World. We all should be striving for the common good, instead of trying to tear each other down. We are in this together!!!
For most of us, we are going to be living in jeans and a t-shirt for the most part. However, that doesn’t mean that we won’t have to head out the door for necessary trips, so don’t be wearing a t-shirt with holes, stains, or ones that are so thin you can see the name of your bra. And PLEASE, put on a bra!!! Lol!
I added this chunky-knit cardigan to this white t-shirt for some color. The blue color is beautiful, and it is definitely a spring color. The cardigan is an open-front design with no buttons; instead, it has a shawl style lapel. This cardigan is heavier, and it will add some extra warmth for those of you who are still experiencing colder weather. Or, if you are like me and are cold-natured, then this will be something that you can throw on to keep you warm.
The cardigan is boxy, so don’t expect a slim fitted look. I am wearing a medium in the cardigan, and it fits great. Here is the link to the cardigan that also comes in three other colors.
Jewelry should be kept simple for this type of look. I like dangle earrings because I want them to show through my hair. If I wear studs, then they get lost in my hair, and you don’t see them as well. The earrings that I have on are a pair that can be styled with almost anything. They can look casual like today’s look, or they can look elegant. No matter how you choose to wear these, they will look stylish.
The necklace is the same way; it can be worn with almost anything. I love long necklaces; I think they help to elongate your neck just like a v-neck does. The necklace that I have on today is 36″ long, and it has a dainty design. It is not a statement necklace; it is a supporting necklace. It won’t detract from what you are wearing, but it will enhance it instead. Here is the link to the earrings, and here is the link to the necklace. BTW, both of these are on sale for 20% off, and you will be able to wear them for years to come.
You might remember seeing these slip-on sneakers in my shoe try-on session (here) on Tuesday. These sneakers fit me like a glove! I wore a pair of Sperry sneakers (here), but I ordered in the wrong size, so I re-ordered them in the correct size. I love both of these shoes, but for different reasons. The Rothy’s fit like a dream, but the Sperry’s are a little more stylish and a whole lot cheaper. UGH! I don’t “need” both of these shoes, but I want the Rothy’s and since the Sperry’s are on sale…well, you know. Lol!
I am wearing a size 9, my usual size in the Rothy’s, and I am wearing an 8.5 in the Sperry’s. Here is the link to the Rothy’s slip-on sneakers, and here is the link to the Sperry sneakers.
These jeans! You gurls spotted them out immediately when I wore them in Thursday’s try-on post. Lol! I plan on doing a try-on session next week on affordable jeans, and all of them will be under 100.00. I loved this pair so much when I tried them on that, I ripped off the tags and wore them the entire day. They are so soft and comfortable, and they also fit me like a glove. I think that this is the first pair of Wit and Wisdom jeans that I have ever owned, but I doubt that it will be my last. These are a jeggings style, so they are made to fit tight.
The website said that these run big, so you should order a size down. I am wearing a size 8 instead of my usual size 10. However, if you want yours to fit looser, then order your usual size, and you should be fine. These do not come already cuffed; I have simply rolled them up twice to achieve this look. You lucky dogs are going to get these cheaper than I did since Nordstrom is having a 25% off sale. Grab them quickly since they are now under 50.00!!! Here is the link.
The last clothing item to talk about is my v-neck t-shirt. It is by the same brand as the one that I wore in yesterday’s post. This is a white t-shirt by A New Day from Target. As I said yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice these t-shirts were, especially for the price. You can’t see through the shirt, I don’t have on a camisole, and you still can’t see my bra. Yes, I am wearing one. Lol!!! This shirt is on sale for 5.00, so grab one, two, or three while you can get them for that price. I am wearing a large, and it is plenty roomy for me. Here is the link to the v-neck t-shirt.

Don’t forget to share a recipe with all of us. Here is the Lemon Pound Cake recipe. The only thing that I change is, I use the ENTIRE bottle of lemon flavoring ( 1 fl. ounce ) instead of 1 TBS. Also, the cake gets really crunchy on the outside, so it normally only bakes for 1 hour, but everyone’s ovens are different. Sometimes the cake falls in the center after you take it out of the over. When it does that, it is the BEST! Because it is probably a little under-cooked, it is so moist and gooey on the inside. Joe loves it when that happens.

Proverbs 23:7
7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
Ok–easy 7 can soup!! Quick!Simple!Easy!1 can of each of the following(undrained)—corn, kidney beans, black beans, pinto beans, Rotel, petite canned tomatoes, chili with NO beans. Mix and simmer. Add 16 oz velvetta -cook til melted and salt and pepper to taste. I like to crumble Doritos on top!!! Yum!!
I have added the ingredients that I don’t have on hand to my shopping list. This sounds great.
Living way out in rural Colorado I am only out of sweats and t shirt if I have to get in the car. Your style today is my usual go to the post office outfit. Then home and back in sweats. Very easy Three cheese enchilada bake. 1 8 oz pkge cream cheese, 1 cup shredded cheddar, 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese, 1 16 oz jar Pace picante sauce, 10 flour tortillas. Mix cream cheese, cheddar and Jack cheese with 1/4 cup Picante. Divide evenly between tortillas. Roll up tortillas place in 13×9 pan, pour rest of picante sauce over all. I put a little extra shredded cheese on top, then bake 350 degrees 20 to 25 minutes. Great topped with shredded lettuce and chopped tomato. Thank you for continuing the post. Still something fun to look forward to.
YUM! This sounds great and looks super easy to make. Thanks so much for sharing it with all of us!
Thanks for the recipe…could shredded chicken be added to each tortilla along with the cheeses and sauce?
3 ingredient crockpot dinner! 1 can whole berry cranberry sauce + 1 package dried onion soup + meat of your choice (my guys like chicken thighs, baby back ribs and pork chops and this sauce complements each of these). I typically slice an onion into thick rounds and lay them into the crockpot first, then add your choice of meat, seasoned to taste, then top with the mixture of cranberry sauce and onion soup. Cook about 5-6 hours on low. I usually serve this over rice, as the gravy is delicious!
Going to try this – hopefully rice will be available again soon! Thanks for sharing!
Oh no, is your area out of rice?
Susan, this sounds amazing and simple! That is my kind of meal!!!
i am definitely trying this…do you use boneless thighs and/or pork chops?
Either is ok. I typically have bone in pieces of chicken but many times the pork chops are the thicker cut boneless . . . either is totally fine. Whatever I have inthe freezer is what I use.
Love the picture of Joe with the flag and love your outfit!
Thanks, Jennifer!
Thank you for still posting during this crazy time.
I am glad that you are enjoying the blog.
Love this look! We have our ?? flying proudly in our front yard, too!!!
Ours is always up also, but it was frayed and looking ratty. So, I was glad to see him replace it.
Love you and your style. Can you help me find vintage round necklace? New addiction to Kendra Scott. Love your style Laura tuck
Laura, the necklace is from Etsy. You need to type in, “vintage rhinestone circle necklace” and I am sure that several will pop up.
I LOVE Wit & Wisdom jeans! I have several pairs now and will never buy anything else. The fit on them is amazing and flattering. The ones you have on look great on you too!! Love your whole outfit today.
Thanks, Sondra! I loved the way this fit too, plus they aren’t that expensive.
Always love a casual look Tania ? not sure if it’s my end but some of my comments don’t seem to go through not to worry in the grand scheme of things ? anyhoo I have a love veggie dish so simple all you need is spinach gnocchi mozzarella and Passat tomato sauce fry up some chilli and garlic in olive oil throw a packet of gnocchi into a separate pan of salted boiling water put your pasta in the pan with your garlic and chilli then then put in spinach frozen or fresh a full bag when gnocchi rises to the top drain and put into pan with Passat and spinach mix the whole lot together and then put into a Pyrex dish break up mozzarella over the the top and bake in the oven for 15mins or so till mozzarella melts then serve with garlic bread or salad ? hope this goes through I’m not typing all that again ?
Lol! Your last sentence cracked me up. This sounds fantastic and I’ll have to see if I can find some gnocchi at our store.
Do you normally wear a size 10 in Loft brand jeans, but fit in a Wit and Wisdom size 8? I’m trying to figure out if I should go with the same size that I wear in Loft jeans or size down one size in the Wit and Wisdom brand.
Linda, I do wear a size 10 in Loft jeans. The Wit and Wisdom jeans suggested sizing down, so that is why I did. They are snug, but they are very stretchy. It depends on the fit you want. Order one size down for a tight fit, or order your normal size for a slightly looser fit.
