WHAT TO WEAR ON SATURDAY WHEN YOU HAVE NO PLACE TO GO

Woohoo! It is Saturday, and I am sooo glad that it is finally here. I thought that I would show you what I wear on Saturday when I don’t have anywhere to go. Many of us are staying home more, and all of that time at home can be boring unless. The winter doldrums are starting to get to Joe, and he is in bad need of a project. He usually has something going all of the time to keep his mind busy. But, right now, all of his projects are completed, and he is bored silly. When the weather warms up, he will spend a lot of time playing golf. But, since the weather is hovering in the low 30s, golf is out of the picture. Now, I need some suggestions on something to keep him busy.

I have tried “honey-do” lists before, but those don’t work for Joe. His project has to be something that HE wants to be done instead of something that I want to be done. The real trick is figuring out how to get him to want what I want. Lol! We have been married for 34 years, and I still haven’t got that figured out yet. Can any of you tell me why he doesn’t “want” to do the dishes, organize my closets, go to the grocery store, clean the house, or wash the vehicles? Hahaha! Men! So, if any of you have any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Spring can’t get here soon enough!

You gurls had asked that I style some clothing from Target, and I listened. Yesterday’s outfit had several items from Target, and today’s is mostly from Target. My white v-neck tee is not from Target, but I will tell you more about that later.

Right now, I want to tell you about this v-neck button-up cardigan. This is so cute, cozy, and comfortable (all C’s), and perfect for relaxing. The sweater is slightly oversized because I am wearing a medium, and it is still big on me. I love the color, although I don’t usually like green unless it is grass green. I decided that I would be adventurous this year and try new things, new brands, and not be stuck in the same old rut. One of the things that we (people of a certain age) get accused of is being stubborn and stuck in our ways.

I am not sure that most people would consider wearing a shade of green adventurous, but I am taking baby steps this year. The sweater does come in other colors, so maybe it would be adventurous if you tried the yellow one or the peach color. Who is with me? Are you willing to try something that you’ve never tried before?

Since I was on a “green” streak, I went ahead and ordered these mid-rise skinny jeans. These jeans run true to size, and I am wearing my usual size 10 in them. You will see me wearing these jeans this spring because they are super cute, and I LOVE the color. It is a pale green, maybe between a mint and an olive color. I think that the muted color is so pretty, and I can see myself wearing it with many different things. It will look great with navy, pink, and white, of course. I also think that it will look great with yellow. Check it out below.

This is stepping outside of my comfort zone. I don’t wear bright yellow often, I seldom wear a headband or scarf, and yellow and green are not a color combination that I would normally wear. Woohoo to me for trying something new. It doesn’t mean that it will be a hit, but you learn by all of your misses. How many misses do you think that you have to get before you get a bullseye???

Pantone picked a bright yellow called illuminating as the color of the year in 2021. Yellow is a warm and inviting color but is hard for some people to wear. That is why I suggest incorporating this bright yellow into your wardrobe with accessories. A scarf like mine (here) can be worn in your hair, around your neck, as a belt, or tied on a handbag. It shows that you pay attention to the latest trends, but you don’t have to be decked out in head to toe YELLOW!

The cable-knit sweater that I am wearing is probably fifteen years old! I don’t wear it very often, but I can’t make myself get rid of it for some reason. It seems like I get it out every spring and wear it once or twice because the color is so happy. I should have added a navy blazer to the look too, but I was afraid y’all would think that I was going overboard. Let me see if I can find you some similar sweaters.

The white v-neck tee that I have on is by Madewell. This is called the Whisper pocket tee, and it is very comfortable and soft. It is also very thin, which will be great for summer, but you might find it too thin without a cami. I don’t have a problem wearing it, but some might, so I want you to be aware before you order it. The whisper tee is one of my favorite tees, and I have this style in several colors. I am wearing a medium, but I might have liked a large better since it was white. Usually, I size up in white clothing so that it doesn’t hug too tightly and show my bra and the tops of my pants.

The white slip-on sneakers are the same pair that I wore in yesterday’s post. These white sneakers will be great for spring and summer, and you will find them very easy to slip on and go. I am wearing my usual size 9, but they are a tiny bit lose, not bad, but still loose. I don’t have on any low profile socks, but that might fix the issue.

  1. Looking fabulous as usual!

  2. Love these spring outfits. The green sweater looks so much darker green on the Target site than in your photos. I wonder which is closer to the true color (since I only shop on line, I won’t see it in person.) I have a pair of light sage pants from 2 years ago (Loft) that I love. Hope to eventually wear them again as I did not wear my spring pants last year (yoga/workout pants last spring as I have been teaching online.)
I love the scarf as a headband. I always find that when I do that, the scarf slips in the back (it slips up.)

  3. Just ordered the green jeans, so cute especially for spring. Always look forward to your posts!

    1. I think they will be so cute for spring.

    Hi,
I’m glad you mentioned about the yellow trend! I try to keep up with fashion, and I enjoy the help you offer with this!!
My husband has no current projects either, and I’m looking forward to the golf season so he can get out and play. I’m still working, so my schedule is pretty full.
Thank you for your site and posts, I always enjoy reading them!
    Gara

    1. Gara, if your husband is like mine, if he is not busy, he is in your hair. Lol!

  5. You look adorable in all these outfits! I love the change of colors and pace with these outfits! Right on!

    1. Thanks, Barbara. I do try to mix things up so that there is a little something for everyone.

  6. You look great in yellow!

  7. beth byrd says:

A while back I bought two pair of pants — one in light green and one in yellow. So, seeing your post today makes me very happy as I think they will definitely be on trend this spring.

I think you look great in both the green and yellow today! Thanks for the tips with the scarf!

    1. Smart purchase, Beth! Those will be great options for spring!

  8. I love the look with the yellow sweater and scarf in your hair. So cute and spring looking. Can’t wait for spring. Wind chill near -20 tomorrow.

    1. Yikes!!! Where do you live???

  9. Your outfit choice today is stunning. I love the colors, the shape, and the cuteness added by the scarf. I look at that combo and think CRUISE!!

    1. Oh, to be able to go on a cruise again!

  10. I really like the color yellow but rarely wear it… don’t know why. May have to give it another try. Joe sounds sooo much like my husband. We are moving furniture out of our bedroom today so he can paint. Woohoo! His idea since he never liked the color I picked out when we built over 10 years ago. May be the only project I get out of him before golf weather comes back! 😉

    1. Ann, that is the only way that Joe would paint. And, more realistically, he would hire someone to do the painting.

  11. Charlcy Green says:

I love that light yellow sweater, and it looks so cherry& spring-ish w the pale green pants! Beautiful on a casual Saturday, Tania! How about asking Joe to clean out the garage? Or build you a shelf or put together a new Ilia piece of furniture?? Then make a huge deal out of the finished project!

    1. Charlcy. This comment made me laugh. Joe would NEVER clean out the garage unless HE was wanting it cleaned. And, there is no way that he would build a piece of furniture.

  12. Loved this look and ordered the Target sweater in yellow. You’re wearing a cute turquoise necklace in the post. Any way to find out where you got it?

    1. Oh, I should have linked that. It is from Kendra Scott.

  13. I think you look adorable with the scarf in your hair outfit. No need to reply

  14. Laura Terry says:

Tania,I loved your outfit yesterday so immediately went toTarget to purchase the white blouse and shoes. I am close to your size and weight so can get a good idea of how an outfit will look on me by your posts. Thank-you!! BTW – I love the yellow on you!

    1. Great! Laura, I am glad that my posts are able to help you.

  15. Please style more outfits from Target! You look great in these clothes….young and simple. Enjoy your blog very much!!

    1. I am so glad that you enjoyed today’s post.

  16. Mary Jo Tesch says:

Tania you did it again!!! you look adorable in all of these outfits. I just commented the other day how I love how you post from stores I frequent…like Target. Here I am looking at this post thinking “I love this” when lo and behold I go to the link and it is from Target!!!! You rock gurl!!!! Thank you, Thank you for styling clothes from stores like this.

    1. Haha! Mary Jo, I like shopping from lots of different stores, but some of them don’t have their spring clothing out yet.

  17. Susan Harper says:

Love the yellow on you! Such a ray of sunshine in the winter!

    1. Susan, I think that the yellow is such a happy color!

  18. Kim🌻 says:

The yellow cardigan with the headband is absolutely my favorite hands down! You look so fresh and vibrant! It’s a hint of spring and warmer weather!
A navy combo in the same look would look fresh also.🌻

    1. Yay! I was afraid that it was too much. I am glad that you liked it.

  19. I like the yellow the best. It really brightens up for your face. The hair band is very flattering too. Very Doris Day.

    1. I have an older gentleman that has always told me that I remind him of Doris Day. lol!

  20. Love the bright yellow on you!

  21. Love these outfits.
The yellow cardi is so fun

    1. I must love it since I’ve kept it for so long.

  22. Yellow is my fav color so I hope it’s on trend this spring!! I’m not usually much for different colored jeans, but I like the green. I may have to go to Target and try them on!

    1. You are in luck, Shari!!! This yellow and a shade of gray are the 2 colors of the year.

  23. Love the look of the scarf as a headband on you. Very pretty! Nice Spring look. Those shades of yellow & green are flattering to you

    1. I had it wrapped around twice which was too bulky, but once would have looked alright.

  24. I”ve experimented with greens more this year from soft for spring to fall to deep shades in the winter.
p.s. If my husband thinks I’m going to mess up something he cares about he will step in to save the day. If I head to the garage or basement with a hammer it makes him sweat. 😉

    1. Janet, you are sneaky, sneaky. Lol! I have experienced that from Joe also, but he usually lets me go ahead and try to see the results before he steps in to fix it.
