Gurls, you know that my goal for this blog is to bring value to you and your life. The way that I choose to bring you this value is through fashion, beauty and skincare, and faith. I hope that today’s post will be beneficial to you since I will show you how to take a basic outfit, one that you probably have in your closet, and style it for all 4 seasons.
Summer season style:
By using the same items multiple times, you get more wear for your money. This is added value, but you don’t want to look like you only wear the same thing over and over again. Like yesterday’s blog post, I will incorporate small tweaks to this classic look and hopefully show you how these tweaks can expand your closet.
Let’s see a show of hands for those who have a white button-up shirt in your closet. This is a basic essential item that all of us need, so if you don’t have one, or if you need a new one, then you are going to love this post.
A classic white button-up shirt is something that can easily be worn all 4 seasons. The white button-up that I am wearing is a new one that I just bought. I try to buy a new white shirt every year or two since they get dingy or stained. The good news is that you can buy a white shirt for a reasonable price.
This white button-up shirt is slightly oversized, so I bought a size medium, which fits great. This shirt is thin but not see-through. I have bought thicker shirts before, but since I have to buy a new one so often, I decided not to invest the extra money for the thicker ones.
These mid-rise skinny jeans are a medium wash. I call this color the baby bear of colors. You know the story of the 3 bears, the baby bear’s porridge was “just right.” That is how I feel about medium wash jeans or jackets. Sometimes the dark wash can be too dark, and the light wash can be too light, but a medium wash is just perfect.
I am wearing my usual size 10 in these jeans, and I think they run true to size. For size references, I am 5’6″ tall, weigh between 155-165 at any given time, and I normally wear a size 10 in jeans with a 32″ inseam. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that these jeans are under $25.00!
Spring season style:
Spring weather has a chill in the air, especially in the morning hours. To add a tiny bit of warmth, you can add a lightweight jacket, a cardigan, or a sweater, as I did for this look.
I kept the same button-up shirt, jeans, and white slip-on sneakers. White sneakers also need to be replaced often, so buying a pair that looks fashionable and affordable is a win-win. This pair has a textile upper and rubber sole and twin-gore elastic that makes them easier to slip on and off your feet.
I purchased my usual size 9 in these sneakers, and without socks, they are the tiniest big on me. I am not sure if an 8 1/2 would work better, but you could order two sizes and ship one pair back if you are undecided. The shoes are under $15.00, so you can’t go wrong with this purchase.
Polka dots are so cute! They are a happy print, and I can’t help but smile when I look at this sweater. This black and white polka dot sweater has a bateau (wide) neckline, and it is lightweight, making it perfect for spring. The last time that I wore this sweater, I wore it with black pants and black boots. I like this look so much better!!!
You can see that hem of the sweater is higher on the sides and longer in the front and back. It doesn’t quite cover all of your rear, but it gets very close. However, with the addition of the white button-up shirt, I am completely covered. I am wearing my usual size 1 in this sweater, so I would say it runs true to size. I usually wear a medium for the most part, but I need a large instead on occasion.
Fall season style:
Ahhh, when fall sets in, the weather turns even cooler. Fall weather is unpredictable, so dressing in layers is usually your best option. I can leave the house on a fall morning, and it is in the 30s or 40s, but by the time I get home in the afternoon, the temperature could be in the 60s or 70s.
For me, adding a jacket is a great way to stay warm in the mornings, but I can remove it if I get too hot in the afternoon. I decided to add some color to the outfit, and this cherry red denim jacket was a perfect addition. The jacket is one that I bought last fall, and it is no longer online. However, here are several identical jackets that you will love. I linked to several in the hopes that you can find one in your size.
I also added a snow leopard scarf to add additional interest just because I could. Lol! Once the scarf is removed, I still have the jacket for interest.
Winter Season style:
Okay, please don’t hate me because this coat is no longer available. If you followed me (here) last year, you know that I tried to get you gurls to purchase the gorgeous reversible black/leopard print coat. Every time the weather dips into the 40s, you will find me wearing this coat. I love wearing it no matter which side is showing. When it is super cold, I wear the fur next to my body, and if it is just cold, I will wear the fur on the outside.
Finding similar reversible coats this gorgeous was not easy, but I did it. I was shocked that I found some, and I am tempted to buy the black and white one, but I already have this one.
I added pointy-toe black knee boots to the fall and winter look because I love wearing boots during those seasons. If I hadn’t been so lazy, I would have worn ankle boots for the fall look and knee boots for the winter look.
These boots are by Vince Camuto, and I love how they look and fit. The website says that they run small, but I ordered my usual size and think that they fit fine. If you wear heavy socks in the winter, you might want to size up a 1/2 size. Here are a couple more if this style doesn’t suit you or they are out of your size.

Therefore you did not desert them,
