VALENTINE’S DAY READY AND NOT A HEART INSIGHT
This past weekend was a lot of fun. I got to watch Emersyn, my granddaughter, play in a basketball game. Her team is just now learning the game, so they don’t have the rules down yet. They don’t understand the concept of offense and defense, when you should shoot, and when to guard. Emersyn has the guarding part down, but she is still guarding someone even when her team is on offense. Lol!
My grandchildren, that live in Tennessee, went to the AFC Playoff game in Missouri. Since my oldest grandson loves the Chiefs, they decided to make the journey. They had a blast seeing the country as they drove to the game, but they had hoped for a better outcome. Even though his team didn’t win, they had a fantastic time and are so glad that they got to have the experience. It looks like it will be the Bengals and the Rams for this year’s Superbowl. Do you have a favorite?
I’ve done a couple of posts about what you could wear for Valentine’s Day. Celebrating Valentine’s Day in Style and Getting Ready for Valentine’s Day are both posts with many ideas on what to wear, but they both contain clothing featuring hearts. I like hearts, and I don’t think that you are limited to only wearing them on Valentine’s Day. But, I bet there are a lot of you who don’t want to wear hearts and would prefer something more classic or simple.
Today’s outfit will show you how you can look festive without wearing hearts. The color red is synonymous with Valentine’s Day. Red is passionate, sexy, powerful, and symbolizes love, and that makes it perfect for Valentine’s Day. The outfit that I am wearing is a color called Red Poppy. I love this sweater set, and it is staying in my closet since I know that I’ll get a lot of wear from it.
The soft knit mock neck tank can be worn in the summer by itself. However, this is an item that will stay in my closet year-round since I can wear it under a sweater, cardigan, or blazer. I love the knit material because it is soft and has a fine gauge that looks expensive. I’m wearing a size 1, and I think it fits great. No lumps and bumps can be seen, so it is a hit with me.
The everyday cardigan in the Red Poppy color is a great weight and can be worn year-round. It isn’t heavy, but it isn’t light either; it is just right for all four seasons. I love the longer length of this cardigan, which hits me at mid-thigh. This is a classic style which will look great with dresses also. I love the open front, no button design since buttons can sometimes detract from the outfit’s look. I’m wearing a size 1, and it fits me great.
If you’re not a fan of heart clothing, you might choose to wear heart jewelry instead for Valentine’s Day. This is a way to look festive in a simpler way that isn’t quite as noticeable. I love these Red Kyocera Opal heart earrings with the bead border. I’ve always been a huge fan of opals, but I’ve never had the red version before. My favorite ring is black opal, it is in the repair shop, and the first ring I ever got from a boyfriend was an opal.
I’m also wearing my 18 kt. Gold vermeil cross necklace that I wear daily. It is very unusual for me to take this necklace off, and I even shower and sleep with it on. I’ve never had any issues with tarnishing or any of the gold wearing off. The lip stain that I am wearing is Daring Red. This color is a beautiful red, and it doesn’t come off on your teeth!
These are the Perfect Pant, Hi-Rise Flare in black, and I love how these pants look dressy and feel like yoga pants. These pants have four-way stretch, which helps to hold you in, and they are fitted through the hips and thighs. They gently flare out at the bottom of the leg for a flattering silhouette. These are by Spanx, and their pants fit like a dream, even though I think they run small. And, they flatter a woman’s body, and who doesn’t want that? I am wearing a large, and they fit tight, but not too tight.
My animal print heels are from last year. They are by Sam Edleman, but I can’t find this exact pair online. I’m wearing my usual size 9, so the heels run true to size. Here are some similar heels if you like the look.

Love this outfit try to order the sweater set don’t have the tank top in size 1 😞but they have the long sweater in size 1. You look amazing in this outfit
Blue-red for me, no orange-red…but I’ll be wearing orange and black for the Super Bowl! Who Dey?
You look gorgeous in this outfit!!!
Love the red. Definitely your color. Just an editorial comment: Your post ends with “and not a heart insight,” which I imagine is a typo. Are you meaning to make insights about the heart, or are you proclaiming there are no hearts in sight? I think you mean the latter.
You look wonderful in red. Love the outfit but cannot wear heels anymore.
You look smashing in this outfit which I think is perfect for Valentine’s Day and beyond
Your size is just perfect. I hope you are enjoying feeling well too…which is really the most important thing. I hope you have a lovely Valentine’s!
You look amazing in the red combo. Love the pants, too!
You make this outfit look wonderful! Thanks for all your sharing!
You look beautiful today. Red is a great color for you. I love the outfit but would change out the heels for leopard flats.
You look so pretty in red. Not a color that I can pull off. And, you look so trim and slim! I really liked the J.Jill try on post you did last year. Can we look forward to another? AND, Who Dey?? Rooting for my Bengals!!
Good morning! Love that outfit! Looking for a sweater you posted in January..Chicos..cowl neck? Lol had in my cart
Any clue? Lol searching..
I love the idea of heart jewelry for Valentine’s Day. I think a scarf with hearts would be cute too. You got me thinking outside the box.
My husband grew up in Cincinnati so he has been a Bengals fan for years. He’s excited that the Bengals have made it this far so I’m cheering right along with him. We’re going to watch the Super Bowl in Cincinnati so that should be fun! Love this outfit on you! The red and animal print shoes rock!
I know he is excited. I hope it will be a great game!
This is a great look. I would definitely wear this except change the heels to flats.
I am a heel-loving gurl! Lol!
I’m wondering is that a Christmas tree behind you? Or am I imagining things because this outfit would be nice for Christmas as well:)
Judi, it is a tree. Lol! I actually took it down this past weekend, but there might be some photos with it before it came down.
You look fabulous in this outfit!
Thanks, Ginger!
Totally love this look. So classy and timeless. This is a big HIT in my book
I loved it too, Carol!
Love the longer sweater, so stylish! I’m not a football fan, but since I’m an Ohio resident, Cincinnati all the way, or Southern Cleveland as we call it!
You have to root for the Begals. They would throw you out of the state. Lol!
I love red and leopard print together! You look fabulous!
It is a combination that I love.
