CELEBRATING VALENTINE’S DAY IN STYLE
Joe and I have been married for 35 years, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t still celebrate Valentine’s Day. We don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day in the same way that we did when we were dating, but we do still acknowledge the day. Back in the day, Joe would send roses but lately, he has gotten to where he gets me chocolate-covered strawberries instead. YUMMMY!
He usually buys 2 dozen chocolate-covered strawberries for us and 2 dozen for my son’s family. Emersyn loves the chocolate version, and her mom prefers the white chocolate variety. Beckham just loves to eat the chocolate off of the strawberries and put them back in the pack. He does eventually go back and eat the strawberries, but he wants the chocolate first. Lol!
If you think that Joe gets by with just buying me a few strawberries, you would be wrong. Haha! I usually buy myself something, and then thank him for buying it for me. The first time I bought myself something, it was a cream-colored Coach handbag that I wanted for Spring. I bought the bag and then told him that he didn’t have to worry about buying me a gift. He looked a little confused until I told him that I bought my present for him. He was delighted that he didn’t have to bother finding me a gift, and I was delighted that I got something that I wanted. A new tradition was started!
I’m not sure what this Valentine’s Day is going to look like. Joe is supposed to be gone on Valentine’s Day, but at least my daughter will be here to celebrate with me. Hopefully, he will think to order my strawberries before he leaves. Lol!!!
I like having a few Valentine’s Day influenced clothing items that I can wear in case we go out to eat. I’m sure we will go out Saturday night, so I’ll probably be wearing one of these outfits. Red is usually the color that I think of the most when it comes to outfits for Valentine’s Day, but pink is a close second.
I started this outfit with this chambray ruffle button-up shirt. When I find feminine details on a clothing item that isn’t usually feminine, I snatch it up. I have several chambray shirts, but the ruffle detail on this one makes it so cute and different. The ruffle goes around the neck and down the placket of the shirt. The cuffs also feature the ruffle that sticks out from blazers or cardigans. I’m wearing a medium, and the fit is great.
The white/ivory cardigan with the bright pink hearts is cute as a button, and it screams Valentine’s Day! This is cute, whimsical, and playful, and I love the bright pink color. This color might be a tad much for some of you, so you might want to opt for the navy version instead. It is still bright and colorful, but it isn’t as bright as this one. The only fault that I have with this cardigan, is that it runs large. I’m wearing a medium and it swallows me. Remember to size down if you place an order.
Here is a view from the back that shows you the length of the cardigan, and that the hearts go all over the cardigan. Some tops only have the print on the front, and I prefer the print to cover the entire garment.
I wore these bright pink skinny jeans the other day with several sweaters. This bright color isn’t for everyone, so I was pleasantly surprised to see how many orders were placed for these jeans. There must be a lot of color-loving gurls like me out there! Almost everything that I ordered from this retailer was too big on me, including these jeans. I am in between sizes, but since these were skinny jeans, I ordered a size 10. Wrong guess on my part, so I have the 8s on order now.
This outfit is a little more dressy than the others. This is a great look for a date night or even for work. The velvet jacket elevates the look and makes it dressier, but you could always choose a different cardigan, blazer, or jacket if you wanted to be more casual.
This heart tee was one that I bought from Loft a couple of weeks ago, and it has already sold out. Loft has a lot of heart clothing, so I’m not sure why this tee was the item that sold out. Any heart tee would work for this outfit, so I’ll link to some that I thought were a great option. BTW, I am wearing a medium and it fits great.
This red velvet blazer was one that I bought this fall. I knew that I’d get a lot of wear from it during the Christmas holidays and that it would also look great for Valentine’s Day. Red is one of my favorite colors, even though I never wore it until I was in my mid-30s. I am shy by nature, and red draws attention to you, so I shied away from the color. I’m not sure when the switch flipped for me, but I now LOVE wearing red. I’m still shy if you meet me in person, but I’ve gotten used to putting my photos out on the web for anyone to see.
Since this blazer is sold out, I’ll link to some red blazers, jackets, or sweaters that would work just as well.
These black pull-on jeggings can go with almost anything, but I thought they looked great with this heart tee. Jeggings are normally skin tight, so I was worried when I ordered these that they would be too tight. I ordered a size 1 and crossed my fingers that these would fit. They fit me great, and they might even be a tad bit loose.
To elongate my legs, I added a pair of pointy-toe boots in the same color as my pants. Any time that you wear shoes the same color as your pants, it makes your legs look longer. Wearing pointy toe shoes also elongates your legs, so this is a double-whammy. Most of the sizes are sold out in these boots, so I’ll link to some similar ones instead.
This outfit isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea. I should have kept this outfit for my Hit or Miss blog post because I know most of you will probably not be a fan. This outfit will be out of the comfort zone for most of you, but I wanted to include it to get your wheels turning.
If you are wondering, yes, this is a pajama top. Even though you can sleep in this top, you can still wear it out in public if you are brave enough. The top is thick enough that you can’t see through it, and it isn’t skimpy or sexy looking, so why wouldn’t you wear this out of the house?
Here is a view of the scattered hearts pajama top from the rear. It is long enough to be worn with leggings since it covers your rear nicely. Lol! I just noticed that Lucy Lu seems to have made herself comfortable on the couch while I was taking photos.
These distressed jeans with a frayed hem are perfect for a casual outfit. I like how these jeans only have a small amount of distressing, but I feel like they are too baggy for me. I was confused why they were baggy on me since I sized down to a 29 instead of my usual size 30. But, when I was looking back at my order, I noticed that I ordered these in curvy instead of regular. Curvy sizes have a little more room through the hips and thighs, so these will have to go back and be exchanged.
BTW, did you notice the way that I have my shirt tucked in? This is a new way to tuck your shirt, and it shows that you are keeping up with the trends. It does take some getting used to, but the curve is not a long one. I think the look is cute, but I’ll be interested in hearing what you think.
Do you wear your heart on your sleeve???

I hope you don’t mind me saying that I love your collection of classic style cardigans. You look so-o-o-o good in them. They’re my favourite item of womens’ clothing. So elegant. I also admire that you have so much style.
That velvet jacket and leggings look amazing on you. Love all the outfits. Thanks for the inspiration.
I actually like all of the looks you shared in this post, with the bright pink being my favorite. I will have to wear a short sleeve top on Valentines Day since I have to go get my allergy shots. I will just wear a red tee that is in my closet, paired with a topper of some sort, and my sterling silver & diamond earrings and necklace. While we haven’t celebrated Valentines Day in years, we’ve just had new carpet installed in our whole house, bought a new bed yesterday, and are waiting to have new windows installed, I accept all of those as our gifts this year.
I forgot to mention that I love how the lip color or gloss looks that you are wearing. Can you let us know what it is? Thanks Tania!!
I am only wearing clear gloss in these photos, no color at all.
I love the pink pants, though since I’ve retired I’ve gained weight and am not sure what size I would wear since I just wear pull on jeggings or yoga pants. LOL I think that the blazer outfit is very nice and a good cross between dress up and casual. I wanted to let you know that I found a cute Valentine top & also a St Patricks Day top from Kohls. You might want to check them out. They are a nice inexpensive option for those 2 holidays. Could you give us another blog on what you use again from Rodan & Fields to look so young and glowing? I use the Lash Boost but would definitely like to get that beautiful healthy glow that you have now.
Janet, I’ll try to do a post on what I use soon. I still love their products and use them daily.
I love the half-tuck. It draws attention to your waistline without stuffing your entire shirt into your pants 🙂
I don’t look good with the entire shirt stuffed in.
That red blazer looks like it was tailor made for you! Great fit and great look …my favorite. There’s just something about black, white and red! Love pink too, but the b, w and red outfit looks really hip!
My husband and I celebrate like you & Joe do. I think I went overboard for this year though. He doesn’t know it yet!
Nancy, I love black, white and red too. I’ve got more of this color combination coming up this week. You’ll have to dish on what you bought yourself. Lol! You might give the rest of us some good ideas.
Out of all the tops you show, the pajama top is my favorite. It reminds me of bowling shirts and that is one place I would wear it. (my Joe bowls a lot). It would work for any casual outing. Hmm. I may need to check it out again. Again, I love your Scriptures. Thank you.
I thought it looked like a bowling shirt also. It is so cute and whimsical, I loved it.
Love love the pink! I don’t miss a day checking your blog! Thanks so much! 💕
Don’t let age dictate what you wear. If you like the first outfit, go for it! (By the way, I’m 63 and I’d wear all these outfits!)
This was a great post. I enjoyed the variety of outfits you chose as Valentine’s Day options. I
n my opinion, the pajama top is just a camp-style shirt. Definitely wearable as a shirt! As for the tuck style, I know it’s trendy but, for me, unless you’re wearing some kind of belt you want to show off, it just seems silly.
Thanks for you posts. You brighten my mornings.
My fav look is the red velvet jacket, black jeans and the white tee with the hearts. Now, you know that tee sold out before your fingers left the page! It looks great on you and it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day.
I usually don’t love really bright colors but these outfits are adorable! No a fan of the pj top unless it’s worn as PJs.
A few years ago I was searching for a cute Valentine’s Day shirt on Pinterest and found you! Your blog quickly turned into one of my favorites!
Love that denim shirt….just ordered it. You look cute in all the outfits today.
Love all the looks on you, but since I have a similar red velvet blazer, that with the black works for me.
I ordered those skinny jeans a couple of weeks ago so I’m excited to see them on you. I haven’t received mine yet. Also although the pyjama top looks cute it definitely looks like you’re wearing a pyjama top so I wouldn’t personally wear that. Red and pink are two of my favourite colours though so mostly these outfits are a hit for me.
Hi Tania. Pink is my favourite colour with red being a close second, so I love the first two outfits, but not a fan of the pj top and distressed jeans.
First outfit is cute but at 64 I would not wear. Love 2nd outfit! That blazer is beautiful! Third outfit no!
I like the heart t-shirt and the black leggings.
How about a post on a Walmart shopping trip for spring wear soon?
Love your blog.
