Tunic Dresses That Have Caught My Eye
If looking stylish and feeling comfortable is your goal this summer, look no further than tunic dresses! For the sake of today’s post, I’m considering a tunic dress to be a casual, looser-fitting dress that falls above the knee. These versatile pieces of clothing are perfect for any occasion, including throwing them over your swimsuit as a cover-up. My favorite part about them is they look just as cute over a pair of leggings, so they can be worn by absolutely anyone, even those of you who prefer a little extra leg coverage. They come in a variety of styles, designs, and price tags, so you’re sure to find one that suits your taste AND your budget. Now, let’s look at some tunic dresses that caught my eye this week!

Affordable Tunic Dresses: Under $100
I’m unsure if these two dresses are technically a “tunic dress,” but I think they are close enough. Lol! I love how they are made, and many petite ladies always ask for shorter dresses. What’s not to like about this dress? It is comfortable, flowy, feminine, flattering, and UNDER $20!
I added my new favorite earrings even though the dress was a statement all by itself.
This dress is made in a similar style. I thought those who don’t want a dress that is so colorful would prefer this solid color. The V-neck and flutter sleeves still give off a feminine vibe. This dress is casual and would look great worn around the house or out to eat.
The Camry Gold Open Frame Earrings c/o Kendra Scott are very pretty, and I can see myself wearing them a lot this summer. I have Indigo, but they are also available in Azalea.
I love this Straw Clutch and carry it with pretty much everything. The Barely There Thong Sandals are perfect for a minimalistic look. I also have these in black; I bought those last year and grabbed this color before they sold out.
I think I’ve been sleeping on H&M! Do you gurls like shopping there? They have such cute pieces at affordable prices, including this adorable cotton tunic dress that comes in four colors for under $25.
Here’s another great tunic dress from H&M that I wanted to share. I have been loving how chic black and white looks lately, but it also comes in four other prints and two solids. This one is under $20, and it’s knee-length, which is a little more modest than some other tunic dresses I’m seeing.
You gurls know that Amazon is my go-to for finding cute dresses on a budget, and there are a lot of great tunic dresses to check out on their website. This one has a fun lantern sleeve with a floral pattern and comes in 8 different colors.
I’m obsessed with this bright hot pink tunic-length dress! You all know I love happy colors, especially in the summertime. Add a nude block heel and a rattan handbag and I would be all set for a date night with Joe or lunch with my friends.
I loved the ruffled bottom on this swing dress from Loft. If you search “swing dress” on their site, they have sooo many adorable tunic-length dresses. Reviews on this one say to make sure to size down!
Higher-End Tunic Dresses: Over $100
Chico’s is always a fan favorite with you gurls, and I can’t blame you with their timeless designs and great quality. This popover dress has a pretty leaf print, and it’s 100% cotton, which means it’s going to keep you cool and comfortable on hot summer days. I love dresses that aren’t just good for one season out of the year, and I think you could even wear this dress throughout the fall with a jacket on top and a bootie!
Lilly Pulitzer is known for colorful, beachy designs, and I think this tunic dress is screaming “Take me on your next vacation!” I found several other great tunics on their site like this classy white and blue striped one and this gorgeous white version!
How darling are the delicate embroidery details on this tunic dress from Tommy Bahama? It also comes in black with white details, which might be a little less see-through if you want to also use it as a cover-up over a wet swimsuit. This pink one from the same brand is worth checking out, as well!
I’ve been discovering all kinds of great “new-to-me” brands lately, and I was thrilled to see how many tunic dresses navyBLEU carries! They have a lot of charming block-print inspired pieces, but I loved how unique this Eden dress looks with the woven cotton trim on the neckline and the bottom.
I recently shared how much I’m loving Boden in this post, and it’s because of all the colorful prints like the one on this notch cotton dress. It would be cute with anything from white sneakers and a woven tote to a pair of white leggings and flip-flops! This pineapple one is so fun, too!
This one from Cabana Life is made with sun-protective fabric, which is a great option if you’re trying to protect your skin this summer! The high color and the contrast of the white trim make it look so elevated and chic. They also have several long sleeve or 3/4 sleeve versions for even more coverage from the sun.

Hi, wanted to purchase the, one day only special deal, fell in like with navy, called customer service for assistance and learned that because I’m not a first time customer I could not take advantage of the special, disappointed):
Had a wonderful Mothers Day with my family so I’m going to get over it:) Hope you enjoyed your day.
You can still get the shoes at the discounted price, just not the extra 15% off.
I still have my mom too!
These are all so cute, but I have chunky knees/calves that I prefer to keep hidden – LOL!
All of these dresses are so cute.
Nine West has some cute ones too
I’m afraid I have reached the age that the only way I can wear a dress above my knee is as a cover-up or wear tights or leggings with them!
Love all the dresses! I read the reviews on the first dress from Walmart and a lot of reviewers complained the arm holes were too large. Did you find that to be true?
I didn’t notice that at all.
Tania, I love all the dresses in your post! I am looking into ordering the one at Walmart! I love dresses too! Love the story about your sister and what your mama told her! lol!
Blessings,
Paula K.
Love, love love tunic dresses. I went and bought the Loft floral black and white you wrote about and some others. Can’t wait to get them.
I like these bright prints.
Wasn’t planning on shopping today, but I ended up buying two of the H&M Viscose Tunic Dresses. And the total cost (including shipping) amounted to less than $50! Happy Friday! 🙂
😊😊😊
I’m glad that your parent’s home was spared from the tornadoes. Oh how I love the scripture verse for today! I am going to order the colorful dress from Wal-Mart, even though I have plenty of dresses, because I really like everything about it, and it’s different from the ones in my closet. So many of the dresses you share in this post are so pretty.
Added the first dress. (Orange) to make cart

I LOVE the prints! Going on a cruise in July, so I’m hoping to grab one or two of these! The earring are sweet too!
Thank you!
I wish some of those dresses had been in style when I was pregnant years ago. I’m a more tailored gal. I just can’t do short loose dresses unless they are night gowns. The dresses above are cute though.
Cute and comfy dresses
Love all the bright colors!!
Tania, I am new to 50 Is Not Old. I truly love your insights for mature women dressing. Your ideas have brought my ways to dress to a new level and now I know I do not have to succumb to looking like a granny lol. I also appreciate your Bible verse each day. Have a great and blessed day.
Welcome, Marjorie! Thanks so much for the kind words. I hope you enjoy the blog for years to come.
You read my mind. I have been thinking about tunic dresses
So many cute tunic dresses!
Back in the day, those dresses were called “shifts”. Thank you for sharing some different brands.
I wear a lot of dresses in the summer. They are so much cooler than pants or shorts. Thanks for all the suggestions.
😊😊😊
I love tunic length dresses. Not only are they great for our hot summers, I will often wear them with leggings during the rest of the year. Love the first one with its bright colors and pattern!
Super cute choices. I really like that blue one!!
These dresses are adorable and so cool for summer 😉
I love a tunic dress— as a dress, over leggings, or as a bathing suit cover up— your selections are great!!
Love the Lily P dress!
As a shorty at 5’2” this length is my favorite! Thank you for the cute options!
I knew my petite ladies would like these.
