THE ONE THING THAT EVERYONE NEEDS IN THEIR CLOSET
The new normal for a lot of families are keeping in touch and talking to each other through a free app called ZOOM. Zoom is a video and audio conferencing app that can be downloaded on any device. A lot of doctor’s offices are now utilizing this app so that they can see and talk to their patients instead of having them come to their offices. I have been using this app for several years to speak to my R+F team since we are spread out all over the US, but I had never tried to Zoom with my parents until recently.
There can be a small learning curve associated with this app. You need to know how to join the meeting, join the audio and video, and how to mute yourself so that others can’t hear what is going on around you. Think of the barking little yap yap dogs (Lucy is terrible about this), and you can see the need to figure out how to mute yourself. My sister spent a while getting my parents up and running on Zoom, and it was quite the process. I would tell you all about it, but they read my blog, and I don’t want to get in trouble.
You gurls know me better than that, I tell everything, and besides, they can’t exactly reach out and touch me right now. Lol! So, first off, there was a slight issue with them remembering their Apple ID, which they needed to download the app. Once that was taken care of, then came the problem of figuring out the sound and audio. My mother kept saying, “I can’t hear you.” Finally, my sister called her on the phone since they were using the app on the computer. After making sure that she had hit the “Join Computer Audio” button, my sister finally asked her is she had the sound turned up on the computer. Whoops, my mom had turned the sound down and had forgotten. That hurdle taken care of, they moved on to video. My sister said, “I can hear you guys, but I can’t see you.” Once again, they had to go through the process of figuring out what the problem was, only to find out that my mother had put a piece of tape over the camera to make sure that no one was watching them. Lol!
Later that afternoon, we had a family reunion of sorts. Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, and Alaska were all represented, and we had a blast. It was a lot of fun, and I can see this happening weekly. I think my sister wants to call it Family Fridays. Have you ladies tried Zooming yet??? Here is a snapshot of the whole gang! From top left to right, my sister, daughter, mom and dad, me, my niece and nephew, my granddaughter, my niece, my son, and my brother. Do you think that we look alike?
I was tired of loungewear and jeans, so I decided to put on a dress and some heels. This virus is not going to be keeping us at home forever, and before long, you are going to be wanting to dress up again. Everyone needs this one thing in their closet, and some of us might want several of them. We all need a little black dress! It is my go-to when I have no idea what to wear because it is always appropriate.
This Ponte Knit dress from J. Crew Factory is perfect in my book. I know that a lot of us aren’t comfortable going out in public with our arms showing. First off, don’t worry about how your arms look! I can promise you that most people won’t even notice your arms; you are the only one that cares. Secondly, wear a blazer, jacket, shrug, cardigan, wrap, or anything else that will make you feel more comfortable. I happen to like the sleeveless style since I love adding blazers and cardigan, and this keeps from having a “bunch” of material under the sleeves.
This dress is a sheath style, which works best for my body type. I am built like a ruler, straight up and down without a lot of curves. The sheath dress helps to give me some curves because they usually fit closer to the body right under the bust, and they are not as tight through the waist. I am wearing a size 12 in this dress, which is my normal size, so the dress runs true to size. This dress is under $30.00, but it is already limited in sizes. Here is the link to the dress, and I’ll link some others in case your size isn’t available and maybe a few other styles also.
I know that I haven’t been showing you a lot of handbags lately. I usually carry my Louis Vuitton that I worked so hard to earn, and I have a hard time showing you things that I don’t use or like myself. However, I am going to try and do better because I know that handbags are something that all of us love. I have recently ordered in a couple that I like, and as soon as they get here, I’ll style them for you. The little cheetah print wristlet is by Amiee Kestenberg. This wristlet is several years old, so it is no longer available. But, I got your back, and I found you some similar items.
I’ve had a few messages asking me about R+F and how you can earn extra money. Skincare and self-care are something that actually goes up during a recession, such as what is going on now. I will be jumping on a ZOOM meeting today at 2:00 pm Eastern time if anyone wants to get on and talk about what this business can do for you. You can ask questions and be assured that I’ll tell you the truth about what it takes to be successful in this business. Hit Join a Meeting once you download the free app, and then type in this number 736-578-7052. I hope to see you there!

Loved the Chloe + Isabel necklace so much, I went and found/bought it on Poshmark.
Love your style. *mwah(
I’ve been zooming too, with my DAR chapter. I’m quite interested in the different backgrounds that people have! I’m a news hog and watch all day. Since social distancing it’s fascinating to see the rooms and backgrounds people use for their backdrops! Because of this, I carefully Examined the bookshelves that would be behind me in the Zoom conference! Haha! If you did not see SNL last weekend, watch it for the “Zoom” skit. It was hilarious!
I learn technology on a need to know basis. LOL I’m just not sure about people seeing me but I’m fine with seeing them up close and personal but I’m not comfortable with it. Yet!
I think I’ve always had a little throw on dress for dressed up M more than I like moments in my life. Black always works but now as I’m getting older, I prefer to lighten up the dress. My LBDis now a pretty beige one. I define how dressy the ocassion is by what jacket I choose You look lovely..
Such a gorgeous family! No way I could answer all for the giveaway. I didn’t think Mr. Smith was a good enough answer for your husband’s name. ?
Loved the dress. Definitely understand pear shaped body. I had gastric sleeve surgery last year an have lost over 200 lbs total. Cute clothes, shoes & purses are now to shop for!
Love your blog! ❤️
Can’t wait to see more purses! I’m a purse hoarder and just did a porch drop for my sister and niece of ones that I no longer use. Just retired in February, and won’t need to switch out purses as often. Plus, plenty of time to go through things now. They said going through the purses was better than Christmas! I enjoy your blog, and like your sister, am pear shaped. Finding dresses that flatter is an ordeal!
Great idea to Zoom family! Loved that you dressed up, makes me want to also!
Take care
I’d love to see some cute, stylish closed toe summer flats and low heel wedges and espadrilles. After toe surgery, I’m trying to hide my toes! I really like colorful and animal print shoes! Read your blog every morning …almost since your blog birth!
My “gurl”friends and I do a zoom happy hour on Fridays! Love it and it’s as safe as anything else out there. We started having to use a password when we joined, which is fine. I love seeing faces and it forces me to actually put some make up on! It was great seeing your family. Your mom and dad look fantastic and I’m sure they enjoyed the experience once they figured out all the technology. Great outfit of the day too.
You look fabulous!!!
That dress is gorgeous. Are you going to give us the answers. I think I was right but not sure on the quiz.
Yay!!! ?I’m SO EXCITED!!! Thank you and thank you for sharing your life and style with us every day!
Congratulations!!! I sent you an email so that I can you bracelet to you.
This outfit looks amazing on you! I don’t have success buying these pieces on line with my pear shape though.
I use video conferencing all the time now, for work and family just not Zoom.
My sister tells me that she is a pear shape and has issues also. An empire waist would probably work for you.
Love that dress! I miss wearing a dress everyday to work. Now, About ZOOM. I’m sure you heard about the security breach they had a few weeks ago. Yesterdays news said hackers are selling the stolen account information they hacked from the innocent people who used their “free” conference calls. Please be careful using them.
Mary Lou, thieves are going to always find a way. Zoom has made it now where the “host” has to approve you joining the meeting to keep hackers from getting on.
My girlfriends said that Zoom isn t safe, so we Skype now! I think Zoom is great but hey, who am I! Lol! You are looking gorgeous in that black dress!
Zoom has implemented new security measures. You have to okay someone to join you now. It will tell you that the host has to approve you hopping on the call.
