The new normal for a lot of families are keeping in touch and talking to each other through a free app called ZOOM. Zoom is a video and audio conferencing app that can be downloaded on any device. A lot of doctor’s offices are now utilizing this app so that they can see and talk to their patients instead of having them come to their offices. I have been using this app for several years to speak to my R+F team since we are spread out all over the US, but I had never tried to Zoom with my parents until recently.
There can be a small learning curve associated with this app. You need to know how to join the meeting, join the audio and video, and how to mute yourself so that others can’t hear what is going on around you. Think of the barking little yap yap dogs (Lucy is terrible about this), and you can see the need to figure out how to mute yourself. My sister spent a while getting my parents up and running on Zoom, and it was quite the process. I would tell you all about it, but they read my blog, and I don’t want to get in trouble.
You gurls know me better than that, I tell everything, and besides, they can’t exactly reach out and touch me right now. Lol! So, first off, there was a slight issue with them remembering their Apple ID, which they needed to download the app. Once that was taken care of, then came the problem of figuring out the sound and audio. My mother kept saying, “I can’t hear you.” Finally, my sister called her on the phone since they were using the app on the computer. After making sure that she had hit the “Join Computer Audio” button, my sister finally asked her is she had the sound turned up on the computer. Whoops, my mom had turned the sound down and had forgotten. That hurdle taken care of, they moved on to video. My sister said, “I can hear you guys, but I can’t see you.” Once again, they had to go through the process of figuring out what the problem was, only to find out that my mother had put a piece of tape over the camera to make sure that no one was watching them. Lol!
Later that afternoon, we had a family reunion of sorts. Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, and Alaska were all represented, and we had a blast. It was a lot of fun, and I can see this happening weekly. I think my sister wants to call it Family Fridays. Have you ladies tried Zooming yet???
Here is a snapshot of the whole gang! From top left to right, my sister, daughter, mom and dad, me, my niece and nephew, my granddaughter, my niece, my son, and my brother. Do you think that we look alike?
I was tired of loungewear and jeans, so I decided to put on a dress and some heels. This virus is not going to be keeping us at home forever, and before long, you are going to be wanting to dress up again. Everyone needs this one thing in their closet, and some of us might want several of them. We all need a little black dress! It is my go-to when I have no idea what to wear because it is always appropriate. This Ponte Knit dress from J. Crew Factory is perfect in my book. I know that a lot of us aren’t comfortable going out in public with our arms showing. First off, don’t worry about how your arms look! I can promise you that most people won’t even notice your arms; you are the only one that cares. Secondly, wear a blazer, jacket, shrug, cardigan, wrap, or anything else that will make you feel more comfortable. I happen to like the sleeveless style since I love adding blazers and cardigan, and this keeps from having a “bunch” of material under the sleeves.
This dress is a sheath style, which works best for my body type. I am built like a ruler, straight up and down without a lot of curves. The sheath dress helps to give me some curves because they usually fit closer to the body right under the bust, and they are not as tight through the waist. I am wearing a size 12 in this dress, which is my normal size, so the dress runs true to size. This dress is under $30.00, but it is already limited in sizes. Here is the link to the dress, and I’ll link some others in case your size isn’t available and maybe a few other styles also.
My necklace is from Chloe & Isabel, which is no longer in business. But, you can grab my Danielle hoop earrings from Kendra Scott. Hoops are a classic design, just like a little black dress, and they can be worn with anything.
I bet a lot of you remember these shoes from my Thanksgiving post. (Here) These Jessica Simpson shoes are real showstoppers! No, they are not “comfortable” for long periods, but they are gorgeous when you do have them on. I love the combination of the zebra print and the cheetah print, and if the heel wasn’t so high, I know a lot of you would jump at these shoes. Well, I found some similar shoes that might get your attention. Lol!
I know that I haven’t been showing you a lot of handbags lately. I usually carry my Louis Vuitton that I worked so hard to earn, and I have a hard time showing you things that I don’t use or like myself. However, I am going to try and do better because I know that handbags are something that all of us love. I have recently ordered in a couple that I like, and as soon as they get here, I’ll style them for you. The little cheetah print wristlet is by Amiee Kestenberg. This wristlet is several years old, so it is no longer available. But, I got your back, and I found you some similar items.
Adding my red pique knit blazer to the dress kept me warm and classy looking. You have seen me wearing this blazer (here) over and over since I ordered it a couple of months ago. I love this blazer, and last night I saw that it was on sale for 59.50!!! I hope that sale is still going on, and if it is, you need to grab this blazer. It comes in several other colors, and I think that I might order the yellow one too. I am wearing a size 10 in this blazer, and it fits me perfectly. Here is the link to this apple red blazer from Talbots.
I hope that you loved this outfit as much as I did. I will say this, you gurls know me waaaaay too well. Lol! The lucky winner of the Rue Cuff bracelet is Gail Barger!!! Congratulations, Gail, once I get your address, I’ll place the order so that it ships straight to you.
I’ve had a few messages asking me about R+F and how you can earn extra money. Skincare and self-care are something that actually goes up during a recession, such as what is going on now. I will be jumping on a ZOOM meeting today at 2:00 pm Eastern time if anyone wants to get on and talk about what this business can do for you. You can ask questions and be assured that I’ll tell you the truth about what it takes to be successful in this business. Hit Join a Meeting once you download the free app, and then type in this number 736-578-7052. I hope to see you there!
