The Best Products to Keep in Your Fashion Emergency Kit

Fashion emergencies can strike at any moment. I’ve definitely had my fair share!! The worst part? They leave you feeling stressed, especially if you are unprepared. Whether it’s a last-minute outfit change for an important event, a missing button on your favorite shirt, or a makeup mishap, having the right items on hand in a fashion emergency kit can make all the difference. Here are a few of the best products to help you solve any fashion emergency and ensure you look your best. I’ve also included a few products that will help keep your clothing lasting longer!

What to Keep in Your Fashion Emergency Kit

Fashion Tape

You’ve heard me share about this before! This double-sided adhesive tape keeps clothing in place and prevents wardrobe malfunctions, making it a must-have accessory for any fashion emergency. I always carry some in my purse just in case.

Clips to transform regular bra into racerback

These days it feels like so many tops and dresses have weird backs where you need a very specific bra. I love that these clips are a simple and inexpensive solution to turn any regular bra you may have into a racerback one.

Bra Extenders

These bra extenders are a must-have for any fashion emergency kit! Just add the extra hooks and eyes to the back of a bra, for extra length and flexibility to the band, making it more comfortable to wear all day long.

Drying Rack

If you don’t already have one of these, I highly recommend adding it to your laundry room. Just set out the rack and hang your clothes. Air-drying helps to extend the lifespan of many of your garments. Plus, you can lay things out on it to use some of the products I mention below.

Static Guard

No one wants that awkward situation where you can’t unstick your dress. I’ve been there before and finally discovered Static Guard. It’s a spray-on solution that helps to eliminate static from clothing, prevents clinging, sticking, and static shock. Trust me though…it really does work!

Deodorant Removing Sponge

There is truly nothing worse than getting ready and then noticing a white deodorant stain on your top. This removing sponge is a game changer and can truly prevent the need to change.

Boob Sweat Products

For anyone who has a fuller bust, spring and summer bring out the struggle of sweaty boobs. The worst feeling is when your bra feels wet. But, there is a solution! The Bust Dust is more of a powder while the other option is great if you prefer a lotion texture.

Mini Sewing Kit

I love to keep a mini sewing kit on hand, especially if I’m going to an event or wedding. You never know what could happen! Whether it’s a loose button, stray thread, or even a broken strap, this little sewing kit has you covered.

Hem Tape

In a pinch and need to take up a hemline? This tape allows you to hem a garment with just a simple bonding strip, I’ve used this for years, and it is great for a fashion emergency kit. It also works for curtains, pillows, bedding, etc.

Button Extenders

We all have been there where your favorite jeans are just a little too tight. This little fashion gadget allows you to create an extended button so you don’t have to get rid of them quite yet.

Seam Ripper

While this may not be in your mini sewing kit yet, it is a great handy, dandy tool that is great to have on hand for any stray threads or a pull in a sweater. The other thing you can use this for is to open up pockets, especially on blazers and pants.

At Home Dry Cleaning

Sometimes going to the dry cleaner isn’t an option with your timeline, or it is way too expensive. But, this dry care cleaner from Woolite is a game changer. It can dry clean any of your clothing in only 20 minutes.

How to Care For Your Clothes So They Last Longer

Activewear and Swimwear Detergent

I’m trying to get better about extending the life of my clothing. I’ve heard that using a detergent specifically formulated for certain types of fabrics, like activewear and swimwear, will remove sweat, body oils, odor, soil, and chlorine from your clothes while retaining their needed stretch and elasticity.

Detergent for Undergarments

I saw another influencer share this, and after seeing it had 4.4k five-star reviews, I decided to order it. The best part is that it leaves no residue on the fabric fibers, unlike other detergents.

Bags for washing socks, bras, etc

No more lost socks, tangled bra straps, or ruined delicates. These washing bags make it easy to pop in those items and wash them in a load with all your laundry. I also love to travel with mine. When I get home, all I have to do is pop it in the wash.

What do you keep in your fashion emergency kit?

I’d love to hear what else I should add to the list!

  1. Super helpful recommendations! I’ve used a few but some are new ones for me. Thanks!

  2. Thank Tania! Picked up quite a few things. Can’t wait to create my kit of care!

  3. Tania, the Hollywood tape comes in flat and upright. What is the difference?

    1. Honestly, Cathy, I’m not sure what the difference is. 🤷‍♀️

  4. Love a post like this! Some of these products I haven’t seen before.

  5. I like posts like this. I have some of these items like laundry bags. I wish there was a pants extender with hooks instead of buttons. I have a couple of slacks that I could use as an extra 1/2 inch. If anyone has ideas let me know.

  6. Sharla Broussard says:

I love these ideas! Great items. I will try some of them!

  7. Great stocking stuffers for my 3 adult daughters! Great ideas, thx!,

  8. I love this! I had no idea there was a button extender. I would add a sweater shaver to remove fabric pills. I had to get mine out this morning!

    1. Fern, I agree. I have several that I use regularly.

  9. Hollywood tape is a life saver, but I didn’t know they made deodorant removing sponges… I definitely need that too! The athleisure wash sounds like another item I should try. Thanks for all the great ideas!

  10. I always have a tide stain stick in my purse. It comes in handy for food and make up stains. Also safety pins are good to have on hand. Love Joe stories. I’m married to an engineer and he over analyzes for every project around the house!!! lol

  11. I keep a strip or two of duct tape, tapped to the inside of my luggage (the black lining). It’s out of site and takes up zero space. You never know when you might need duct tape-my biggest use is to secure hotel curtains at night so light doesn’t come thru. Can also use it to remove lint if you forget your roller.

    1. I know what you mean about hotel curtains. We solved that issue with our NodPods. Lol!

  12. The bra strap has been a life saver for me! I have small sloping shoulders so straps were always falling down and made me grumpy. I can leave these on my bra, and no more slipping! Another lifesaver for me has been these belts. They hold pants in with no buckle bulge!

    1. Gail, that is the exact belt I use for tummy bulges and to tuck in shirts.

      1. It just dawned on me this morning you were the one who turned me on to these belts!

  13. I love posts like this one! It seems like you always mention a product to fill one of my current needs.

  14. A really good list! I have those racer bra straps, excellent! I need my husband to help me with them, I haven’t figured out how to put them on by myself with the bra on. It’s a dilemma, LOL! Maybe someone has a solution. The fashion tape is a must have as well. Thank you, Tania!

  15. Thank you for all of your posts! You have the best items. 🙂

  16. Sue McKamely says:

What a comprehensive list of useful emergency wardrobe products! I ordered the double-sided tape and the bra clips for a racerback style. Thanks so much for posting these products!

  17. Jill Buchanan says:

Thank you for the list! I already have a few of them, but ordering a couple others to have on hand!

    1. I have most of them, but I found some that I need too.

  18. Laurie Ann says:

    Great list, thank you Tania!!

  19. krista rogers says:

this may be too hard, but would you do a post about strapless/no bra products? do those sticker things REALLY pull you up and stay put? I’ve seen posts about strapless bras too, but they are NEVER in stock in my size…

    1. Krista, I wouldn’t say the sticker things pull you up; they just keep you from having headlights. I’ve been thinking about doing a strapless bra post….

    2. My daughter tried the sticker/sticky bra. It worked for some lift but she was wearing a halter style dress and you have pull them straight up so it showed. I hope that helps some

  20. Thank you! You always have the best tips. Love your daily emails.

  21. I would recommend a knit picker. Unlike a seam ripper, it doesn’t cut. It makes fixing a sweater pull very easy.

    1. Thanks, Kathy. I’ll have to look that up; I’ve never heard of it before.

      1. MaryCarol says:

Thanks for sharing this handy list.
We need button extenders at our house.
Do you know if they make something to put inside shoes that slip when you walk?

    2. Jill Zimmerman says:

My mother has always used a crochet hook.
