It’s winter and you know what that means – my annual post on how to keep your lips looking lush. If you’re rolling your eyes, you’re probably neglecting an important part of your face. We use our lips daily! I’ve posted so often about lipsticks, lipstains, and lipglosses, I thought today we’d talk about products to keep your lips looking good UNDERNEATH all of those products. Winter is coming, and the wind and cold can make lips dry and painful. Here’s a list of the best products for keeping lips from being chapped.

What should I look for in products to keep my lips looking beautiful?

When looking for the best lip products to keep your lips looking great, focus on formulas that prevent dryness and protect the skin barrier. Lip balms with SPF are essential to guard against sun damage, while emollients like lanolin, petrolatum, and beeswax help seal in moisture. Ingredients like vitamin E, aloe vera, and coconut oil aid in healing cracks and soothing sensitive skin.

You need to avoid licking your lips to prevent chapping and consider using ointments like Aquaphor or Vaseline for long-lasting hydration. For added fun, explore tints, flavors, or scents like mint or cinnamon, but be cautious with menthol or camphor, which can irritate. For the best results, consult a board-certified dermatologist if you experience persistent issues.

The Best Products for Keeping Lips from Being Chapped – Masks

I’ve used Laneige Lip Masks off and on for years. I love how the product feels on my lips as I sleep. This has 4 yummy flavors – strawberry, mint, grapefruit, and coconut. These similar sets are great because you can keep your favorite and use the others for stocking stuffers. Apply to clean, dry lips l and leave on overnight. It can be used day and night or before applying lipstick!

This product has very impressive reviews! It’s hard to get a group of people to agree on anything, yet Burt’s Bees has managed to do just that. The product info claims this lip treatment moisturizes, conditions, smooths, and helps support your lip’s natural moisture barrier while you sleep. I’m loving all of these items that don’t require me to do anything, lol. Another plus? It’s not tested on any animals. You have to love that!

The Best Products for Soothing Dry, Cracked Lips

Let’s go old school with Aquaphore Lip Repair! This little tube is packed with all the good stuff—vitamins, shea butter, and chamomile—to keep your lips soft and smooth. It’s fragrance-free, super gentle on sensitive lips, and it works like a charm to lock in moisture. Just swipe it on for instant relief, and you’re good to go! Plus, it’s dermatologist-recommended, so you know it’s the real deal.

We have been using masks on our faces for years, but lip masks are a relatively new product. They are easy to use. Apply the mask to your lips and leave it on for ten minutes to hydrate and moisturize. If you’re concerned about irritation, it’s always a good idea to do a skin test. This is very inexpensive and includes 20 masks.

The Best Products for Keeping Lips from Being Chapped – Lip Repair

This is a mask of a different sort. Instead of placing the mask over your lips, this includes an applicator to apply the mask. That’s a nice touch, as it will help keep the product clean, plus no gunk under your fingernails! Again, this mask is intended to stay on while you sleep so you can wake up to freshly moisturized lips. I only see the one flavor, but it’s a good one – peach!

Sometimes, you need a little something more than your basic chapstick. This Ultra Repair Lip Therapy contains butters and oils to protect and antioxidant boosters to stave off “environmental aggressors.” This product contains no artificial fragrances, which I love since I am highly sensitive!

The Best Lip Conditioners for Chapped Lips

This Lip Replenisher from Revision Skincare uses Hyaluronic Acid to deliver intense hydration to your lips. Why do we want hydrated lips? Because hydrated lips don’t just feel better than dry, cracked lips. Hydrated lips are also plumper and more youthful-looking.

For those who like to carry a stick in your purse, this lip conditioner from Bioderma should do the job nicely! Sometimes, lip balms can make your lips feel even dryer, but this lip conditioner keeps them moist all day. These come two to a pack, so throw one in your bag and put one on your nightstand!

The Best Products for Keeping Lips from Being Chapped – Exfoliating

I have this sugar scrub balm, and I love how the scrub feels as you apply it. It then melts into your lips, leaving you with the hydrating balm. I carry this in my handbag to use when my lips are feeling chapped. It has a nice taste and adds a bit of color to your lips. This is Dior, so you know it’s got a beautiful package as well.

It makes sense to exfoliate our skin, so why not our lips? This sugar lip scrub combines an excellent lip exfoliator with a lip moisturizer. Made with Hawaiian Cane Sugar, this treatment gently removes dead and dry skin. It’s cruelty-free and formulated with all-natural ingredients. Plus, it has a lot of great reviews. Am I the only one who looks at those lol?

The Best Scrubs and Tools For Chapped Lips

I’m a sucker for anything coconut, and then when they put the word SEXY in the title…well, what can I say? Even with the coconut yummy title, this product is fragrance-free. You can imagine how I feel about this one since thousands of folks have taken the time to write a positive review!

I have almost every beauty tool, but evidently, I’ve been missing one! This lip scrub exfoliating tool has two sides. One is to use with sugar scrubs like the ones above, and the other is to massage your lips. I’d put this in my toothbrush cup to remind me to remove the dead skin. It’s not going to break the bank either.

Alright, Gurls, there you have it—my top picks for keeping those dry lips at bay! Whether you’re layering on Aquaphor Lip Repair for a quick fix or reaching for the best lip balms with ceramides for that extra hydration, there’s something here for everyone. I love how vegan options with sunflower oil and castor seed oil give that smooth texture without the waxy feel, and if you’re into a little shine, lip gloss can be your best friend! Petroleum jelly is a lifesaver too—just a small swipe can work wonders! As always, take care of your lips, and if things get tough, a little help from a dermatology MD never hurts! Stay glowy and smooth, Gurls!
