The Best Face Moisturizers for Women over 5O
Gurls, you know that I’m all about skincare. I’ve been using Rodan & Fields for years, and I think my face is better for it. I’ve blogged about my favorite R + F products before, but I know that there are not a lot of choices. Today, I’m sharing the best face moisturizers for women over 50. There are so many choices! Don’t worry. I’m going to break it down for you and I’ve got all price points covered.
Why Should Women Over 50 Use Facial Moisturizers?
Women over 50 should use facial moisturizers to support mature skin and maintain its health and hydration. As we age, our skin barrier weakens, making it harder to retain moisture. This leads nowhere good, like fine lines, enlarged pores, and loss of elasticity.
Using a nourishing moisturizer with ceramides, peptides, and vitamin E helps to replenish the skin’s natural lipids and restore hydration. This can help improve skin texture, improve skin tone and even promote collagen production to reduce signs of aging. Yes, please! Many board-certified dermatologists recommend using moisturizers with antioxidants to protect against environmental damage, helping the skin maintain its youthful glow. A fragrance-free formula is also ideal for sensitive skin to avoid irritation.

Estee Lauder is a brand that has been around since 1946 and is the 2nd largest cosmetic company after L’Oreal! This Revitalizing Supreme cream has rave reviews. In a recent survey, 93% of consumers said their skin looks radiant & feels stronger, hydrated, and nourished! This and the others I’m sharing are for the face and neck, not the eyes. Maybe I’ll do a post on those soon, too.
This cream from Philosophy kills two birds with one stone. It’s a great moisturizer and a sunscreen. According to their 8-week study, users found a 73% increase in hydration after one use! I love that it’s cruelty-free. They are reviewed a ton and have a great rating. A SPF 30 is great.
Clinique and skincare just go hand in hand. This is a powerhouse for mature skin that needs a little extra love. It’s packed with hyaluronic acid, which helps to deeply hydrate and plump the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and giving your complexion a healthy glow.
The fragrance-free formula is perfect for sensitive skin, and it’s designed to strengthen your skin barrier while promoting collagen production to smooth out those pesky wrinkles. Whether you’re dealing with dry or oily skin, this nourishing moisturizer is a great addition to your skincare routine to keep your skin looking radiant and youthful!
What should I look for in a facial moisturizer?
When choosing a facial moisturizer, it’s important to consider your skin type. For mature skin, look for key ingredients like ceramides and peptides, which help strengthen the skin barrier and improve skin texture. If you have oily skin or are prone to breakouts, a lightweight or gel formula with glycerin or squalane can hydrate without clogging pores.
For dry or sensitive skin, moisturizers with shea butter, fatty acids, or natural cholesterol are ideal, as they deeply nourish and protect the skin. Broad-spectrum SPF is another crucial component to shield against harmful UV rays and prevent further damage. Dermatologists often recommend products that are fragrance-free to avoid irritation, especially for those with sensitive skin.

I am a huge fan of IT cosmetics, and so when I saw that they had a cream, I was thrilled. First of all, Confidence In A Cream is a great name! Points for creativity right off the bat. This is a hydrating cream and also works to reverse signs of aging. I always check the reviews; there are so many, and they are great!
A few years ago, I was at an event for a ministry. The keynote speaker and his wife came by my table to say hello, and I couldn’t help but compliment her on her skin. It was glowing. A few days later, she texted me a photo. Yes, it was this L’Oreal cream. She must have texted a few more folks because this has thousands of great reviews. You can’t go wrong with retinol, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C!
Here’s another offering from Clinique. I wanted to include this because it’s got great reviews. The 100H stands for 100 hours, which is how long Clinique claims this moisturizer lasts! Some reviewers use it in the morning and as a night cream. Plus, this says that it hydrates in just 3 seconds! Good and fast – my favorites!

Not every moisturizer has to be expensive. Gurls, this cream has been reviewed ….well, you just have to look at it to believe it. This cream works for your face and body and is a great price. I use CereVe all of the time. There’s always a jar in my cabinet! This fragrance-free formula is loaded with ceramides and hyaluronic acid, which help restore the skin and lock in moisture all day long.
It’s perfect for dry or sensitive skin and is gentle enough for daily use. The dermatologist-approved formula also includes glycerin to keep your skin feeling smooth and hydrated without any greasy residue. If you’re looking to improve skin texture and maintain a healthy glow, this is one of the best moisturizers out there, and it’s great for all skin types. It’s definitely a staple for any skincare routine!
Retinol and Collagen? Yes, please! Here’s another affordable moisturizer. I love that they say this is for men and women. My brother-in-law is bald, and there’s no way my sister is going to give him a dollop of her expensive face cream for his scalp, lol. This and CeraVe are great to keep on the counter for the man in your life.

I’m a fan of La Roche-Posay and have several tubes, but I wanted to share this travel-size version. Keep it in your purse or suitcase so that you’re never without moisturizer. This small tube is fantastic for when you just need a tiny bit of moisturizer.
I hope you found something you can use. Whether it’s a name brand or an inexpensive version, please keep your face hydrated!

Great suggestions but what about those of us who are a bit oily? I’m over 60 and still have a ‘sheen’ but under crepey under eye lines. Any suggestions?
I’m not oily, but I always use a setting powder to help dry up and set my products. Then I use a setting spray. Maybe those would help.
Moisturizer has been so critical now that I live in AZ. Thanks for the tips.
These are great choices . I’ve tried several of these over the past years .
But some how I always end up going back to my oil of olay . I’ve used it for over 25 years !
I can’t wait to try a few of these products!
So many good choices
I have worn Oil of Olay since my twenties (I am now 73). Have tried a few other moisturizers but always go back to Oil of Olay!!
I wish I could use anti aging skin products but my skin doesn’t like them anymore. I’m scared to try any again after my eczema flare up last winter. Jojoba oil is all I can use for a moisturizer. My doctor said it mimicks natural skin moisture more than anything else.
I like using Olay Regenerist. Costco always has great deals on it.
CeraVe products are my go-to, but I may try the L’Oréal next. Thanks!
I keep going back to Cera Ve – which my dermatologist recommends
These are all my favs too!
I love Estee Lauder! I’ve tried several and keep trying to change but nothing compares to the Estee Lauder products (for me anyway).
I always stop and read anything about skin care. It is SO important. Thank you for this post. I’ve been an Estée Lauder girl for years but have begun looking for a less expensive option. I’m 72 and I have noticed my entire body including face becoming dryer. Will check out CeraVe…. never thought to use it on my face.
You forgot my fav ELEMIS.
UGH! I always leave out something…it is so hard to include all the great products.
I was loyal to good old fashioned Oil of Olay for ages. I have tried other products and return to really simple items. These days I use Cerave, Vanicream or a classic Ponds.
All of these are nice, I need a suggestion for an everybody lotion with sunscreen thx
