Do you use CC creams? I’m not sure when I first became aware of them. When I first started wearing makeup as a teenager, all we looked for was a good foundation. Now it seems there’s a cream for everything! So what is a CC Cream? The term “is used by some brands to mean Color Control cream or Color Correcting cream, and some brands claim to reduce the appearance of skin redness .” Thank you, Wikipedia! Not sure where to start? I’ve put together a list of some of the best CC creams for women over 50.

The Best CC Creams for Women Over 50 -Under $20 Dollars

I love a good creamy compact. These come in two to a pack, one cream and one matte concealer, and include a “mushroom” head applicator. Wet the applicator, “stamp” the cream onto your face, and blend. Voila! Just $14 dollars.

ELF is always an inexpensive way to try a product. Their CC cream is available in 30 different skin tones and is just $15 dollars. It provides medium-to-full coverage, not too heavy and not too light. Worried about sun damage? Good news! This is formulated with SPF 30. I think that’s helpful, especially in the colder months when I don’t normally think about sunscreen.

The Best CC Creams for Women Over 50 -Under $40 Dollars

This CC cream is available in seven shades and not only includes sunscreen, but also moisturizer. The name “stem cellular” made me wonder if it included stem cells. I mean, it’s in the NAME. But when I look at the active ingredients, it just says things like aloe, coconut oil, and organic apple juice. Whew. It has a 4.3-star rating and is $35 dollars.

This lightweight tinted CC cream has an SPF of 50 and is available in 4 skin tones. It’s good for all skin types – oily, combination, sensitive, dry, and normal. I’ve tried several lightweight creams and have come to love them. If you use a heavy foundation, it might feel strange at first, but the coverage is great, and it doesn’t flake, etc.

I love the name of this – Hey, Honey Trick and Treat CC. This cream comes in 4 shades and has an SPF rating of 46. This is especially good for red skin and rosacea. It is infused with honey which is known for its antioxidant properties, and bee propolis, which is used to encourage new skin cells. The price is 42 dollars for 1 oz.

The Best CC Creams for Women Over 50 -Under $50 Dollars

This CC cream includes Centella Asiatica. Unfamiliar? Many skincare products incorporate Centella Asiatica, utilizing its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cellulite, and anti-aging properties. Where do I get this plant, and can I sod my yard with it?! This has 25 SPF and is animal cruelty-free. I mean, they had me with the anti-cellulite and anti-aging, but it’s nice to know they don’t test on animals. Approximately $46 dollars.

Not going to lie, Gurls, this is one of my all time favorite CC creams. This comes in 12 skin tones and includes an SPF of 50! What I always loved about this cream is that it has light-reflecting pigments to give glowing skin without glitter or shimmer! This is a full-coverage cc cream, but it doesn’t feel heavy. According to ULTA, it’s the #1 selling CC cream in America, and I don’t doubt it. One of the key ingredients is Hyaluronic Acid which helps retain water to hydrate and visibly plump, AND minimizes the look of fine lines & wrinkles. A little pricer at $47 dollars, but again, one of my faves.

Finally, this Lune+Aster cream is not light, and not heavy, but a perfect medium coverage. Yes, it’s got sunscreen and an SPF of 50! It’s available in six shades and has vitamin E, hydraulic acid, and sea buckthorn! What is sea buckthorn? Sea Buckthorn, found in Asia and Europe, boasts vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, and C, along with other active ingredients. Traditionally, people have used it to slow down the aging process. Someone import this plant now!

I looked in the rear view mirror and realized I had no make up on.Nope hats not going to work so I stopped at the closest store, went in And grabbed me some CCcream and mascara
not what I normally wear but it
    worked Thanks for the share

  19. I’ve had great success with the ELF CC cream. It works well on my 71 year old skin!

  20. I’ve used the IT brand CC cream. Loved the 50 SPF but found it to be quite heavy. I use it mainly when I know I will be spending a lot of time outside.

  21. Some of these I have never heard of. I love the iT CC cream. I love how it doesn’t settle into lines or wrinkles. I have also used the elf CC cream. It’s good also, a little heavier than the iT one. I still prefer the iT. I also received a full size tarte CC cream once. It has barely any coverage and I don’t care for it.

  22. I have been using IT Cosmetics CC cream for years along with their concealer. They go on sale every so often if you sign up for their emails on their website – or check on QVC as they have some good sales too. Great products and a little goes a long way!!!

  23. I don’t use CC cream. I like my Taste foundation. I may try Elf since Ulta is good about returns if the shade is wrong.

  24. Laura Garrett says:

I’ve been wanting to try a CC cream and I see a lot of ads about Perbelle. Wondering if you’ve ever tried it??

    1. I have not. I haven’t heard of that one.

    2. That’s all I use these days and I’m constantly getting asked what I use and about my skin care regimen…which is nothing at all special. It’s a tad more expensive but you don’t need much at all and it matches my skin tone better than anything I’ve ever tried. I’m 68, btw.

      1. Laura Garrett says:

Thanks, Rhonda. That’s a great testament for the product. I’m going to try it!

  25. Love that they have spf – will be saving this post- thanks

  26. do you apply with a brush?

    1. You can use a brush or your fingers. I usually use a makeup sponge to even everything out.

  27. I always love your posts on makeup, moisturizers and anything that deals with skin care! It helps so much.

  28. I use Olay Total Effects CC Cream Tone Correcting Moisturizer SPF 15 daily and I love it. It goes on so smoothly, doesn’t feel heavy and I don’t even have to use a primer. I just apply my foundation on top and it gives a beautiful finish. Not too pricey so great for someone who wants a drugstore, economical brand. I wish I’d discovered CC creams years ago!

  29. Patti McDonald says:

I always enjoy your posts on skin care. I prefer tinted moisturizers. Maybe you can do a similar post on these. Enjoy your trainer and good luck!

  30. Lori Gorenflo says:

Thanks for all the recommendations on CC cream and the information behind them. I am thankful for your diligent research. I am going to have to try one or two of them. Love your blog.

  31. Joyce Cushing says:

I love using a cc cream especially in the summer because of the spf. Thanks for sharing these various products!

  32. Yes I will try one of these. I’m thinking the IT brand. But do you use it in place of foundation?

    1. Yes. You don’t need to use a foundation with a CC cream.

  33. Grandma Judy says:

Good morning! I stated using CC cream when even my expensive foundation just made my wrinkles more noticeable. I love iT. They have a color that matches my skin tone well and does a great job of covering my malasma and not making my wrinkles more prominent. It is more expensive but a tiny amount is all that I need. By the way, your jammies are very cute and sexy!!!!

  34. I am a big fan of It cosmetics CC cream! I honestly think my skin is less wrinkled since I started using it!

  35. Yes I’ve been using IT CC Cream for years. They have one without luminescence which is what I use. Tried others but always come back to IT. Great color and coverage for my 71 year old skin.
