My oldest son is a huge football fan. I am talking huge!!! He loves all football from the peewee ages up to the professionals. He played football from grade school through college, and then he has coached High School football for more years than I can count. Even though he loves all football, he does have a favorite team, and that would be the University of Tennessee. Go, Big Orange!!!
My son also loves the Lord with all of his heart. He would never miss church to watch a football game, and thankfully, with all of the technology available to him, he can record the games and watch them once he gets home.
Since I am originally from Tennessee, a LOT of my family are also huge UT football fans. So, anytime there is a UT football game on, you can bet that several of them are sitting in front of the television if they are not at the game. My sister and cousin, Ginger, will take to Facebook for a blow by blow update as the game progresses.
Once the church service is over, my son will turn on the recording of the game. He can quickly skip through the commercials, and still see all of the plays. BUT, he has to be very careful not to hop on Facebook for anything, or he can see the updates and the outcome of the game. It spoils the whole game for him if he knows how it is going to end.
Some of you might be Kansas City Chiefs fans, and if you are, then you know how exciting those games were because of all of the comeback victories. The Chiefs even set an NFL record with their comeback at the SuperBowl over the San Francisco 49ers. That was a CRAZY game, but it would not have been near as exciting if you had known the outcome before the game started.
Well, I hate to tell you this, but I have a SPOILER ALERT for some of you…The Lord wins, and the devil loses!!!
The devil and the Lord God have been at odds for a long time. The Lord cast the devil out of heaven, and the devil took up residence on earth, trying his best to hurt the Lord through His children. We all know that nothing hurts us more than when someone attacks our children.
However, scriptures tell us that satan, and all of his kingdom, are bound to fail. The devil might look like he is winning since we see so much sin and evil all around us, but the outcome has already been foretold.
14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the Devil, 15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
The devil has been biting at the heel of the Lord’s children since the Garden of Eden. The devil is a liar, a manipulator, a tempter, and a formidable foe. His actions in the Garden of Eden shows that he is very skilled at deception and will keep biting at our heels, trying different tactics to pull us away from our Lord.
15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
Jesus was also an offspring of the woman. He also endured temptations by the devil who was trying to strike at His heel. But, Jesus knew the devil’s ways and was not easy prey. The devil will get his licks in, but if we are vigilant in looking for his wily ways, with the Lord’s help, we too can CRUSH his head.
Satan first tempted man in the Garden of Eden, and he continues to tempt man today. If we follow his temptations, that will lead us to sin and stray from the Lord, and that can get us booted from His Kingdom just like Adam and Eve.
The GOOD NEWS is Jesus brought the Kingdom of God to earth. All we have to do to be a part of that Kingdom is to repent, be baptized, and then start living by His commandments.
13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the Kingdom of the Son he loves,
The winner is already known. God is destined to win this battle. But, we have a choice to make, and we have to decide who we are rooting for. Are you on Team God or team satan?
TO GOD GOES THE GLORY!
Have A Blessed Day!
