How many of you made a resolution this year? How many of you have already broken that resolution? Lol! So far, I am still doing good with the few that I made, and knock on wood, it has been easy so far. I didn’t make any over the top resolutions because I think that baby steps work best. So, my major resolutions have been…

to start my day with my morning devotion before I open my computer. If I open the computer first, then I go down a rabbit hole, and it takes me hours to get back on track. Another resolution was to not eat any sweets in the month of January. This is pretty major since I have been living on sweets since Halloween. Also, I have decided to only drink water or black coffee (yuck) in January to get away from processed sugar and artificial sweeteners. I am not a fan of water, so this is probably the biggest challenge for me this month.

Joe and I are also going to try and sit down every Sunday and make out a menu for the entire week. Then, I go online and make a grocery store order for the items that I need, and go and pick them up on Monday. Joe was in heaven at the thought of this new development. He loved getting to pick out what he wants to eat for the week, and I love knowing ahead of time what I have to cook. Wow, who knew that getting organized would make everyone happy?

I had several of you message me that you would like to see a work outfit. Since I went in to work several days last week, I decided to style a couple of work styles that will also work for date night, church, or any kind of dressier place that you might need to go. I love this look, and I love how comfortable it is to wear.

I am wearing a black cashmere turtleneck sweater that I wore earlier (here) with a pair of taupe corduroy pants, and it looked great in the casual setting. This sweater has been on sale for a while, so the sizes are probably getting limited. I am wearing a size medium in this sweater and I love the way that it fits me.

I love adding a POP of color, and red is one of my favorite colors to add to a black and white outfit. This waterfall cardigan is one that I bought from White House Black Market, but this one is only available in XXS and XS. I did find some similar ones, especially the one by Anne Klein, and I’ll link those below. I am wearing a medium in this sweater which fits great.

These dress pants are pretty dang awesome. I was surprised that I liked them as much as I did when I put them on, but I liked the weight of these pants and the large straight legs. I wasn’t a big fan of how high waisted they were, they came all the way up to my ribs. These pants have been on a Final Sale, so they are very limited in size. The only size left in them is size 18.

The Jack Multi-Strand necklace that I am wearing is turned around backward. The front side of this necklace actually has multi-colored crystals, but by turning it around to the backside, I will be able to wear it all year long. It is a very versatile piece because of this feature. I also added the Ryder Statement earrings and the Sophee small heart necklace to my look. I bought the small heart necklace for both of my granddaughters for Christmas, but it would also make a fabulous Valentine’s Day gift. ❤️️

Romans 8:31-32

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

  1. I so enjoyed that you made the comment that you want to be your best you…. The slogan or motto that I used in my classes over 30 years ( I am now 71 and have retired ) was LEARN TO BE YOUR BEST SELF .. TODAY , TOMORROW AND FOREVER. I enjoy trying to look my best , even at 71 💜💜💜 You look so beautiful in red . 🌹

Your outfit looks polished and professional, and also comfortable.
I have been doing a monthly menu for over 30 years. Nothing is ever written in stone, all meals are planned for the week and the food is in the fridge. If we have other plans, it is not an issue. You never have to worry about taking something out of the freezer, and no wasted food. Once you get started you will love it!

  3. Maybe Tania the menu planning could become another of your features here on the blog. I run out of ideas for dinner and I always laugh that if someone told me at the beginning of the weeek what I would be making each day, that would sure help out a lot!

Thanks so much for showing comfortable work at home wear! I was one of the ones asking for it! You can blow the dust off my work blazers and shoes. I don’t wear either at the moment.

Good luck with the menu planning. Nice that your husband is excited about that. For 27 years I have asked my husband (off and on, I’m not crazy) what he wants for dinner. His response is “Oh, I don’t know, whatever there is.” My response is “We don’t have anything, that’s why I’m asking.” So, as of May 2021, he is retiring and he is taking over dinner. I can hardly wait!

  5. Great look for work, or when you would need a dressier look. I love the idea of doing the “resolution” for the new year, a month at a time. Thanks for the idea!

  6. Love the office outfit. I have a similar outfit that I wear to the office, as my company requires us to come into work. Sometimes I switch the black top for a white top. Also looks good with royal blue or kelly green cardigans. The pants look fantastic on you! I like to add cucumber slices to my water for a refreshing taste in the summer.

  7. This outfit looks great on you Tania! I want to encourage you with your weekly meal planning. I have been doing this for many years and it is so “freeing” knowing what you are making for dinner each night and that you have the groceries you need to do it. Of course, you can be flexible and change things up during the week if you need/want to, but again, you already have the groceries you need. Even though my girls are married and moved out, I still make weekly menus for my husband and me.

  8. Although this is a sharp look, I don’t know anyone who is going into an office these days. We are all home bound now. More comfy leisure looks please!

    1. Lois, there are a lot of people who still have to venture outside of the home. So, today’s post was for them.

      1. I’m someone who will be going back to the office next week, so thank you for this post. When you’re self-employed, you don’t always have the option of working from home.

Tania, have you tried Hint bottled water? It has a “hint” of fruit flavor, with no sugar or sweeteners in it. It’s like putting a lemon slice in your water. There are different flavors. I get tired of drinking plain water, and this is a nice alternative.

    1. Sue, Sherli just mentioned that also. I need to check it out.

  10. Ha ha!! I laughed when I read the heading, without opening the email. I thought for sure you were going to show a pretty top and jewelry… with PJ bottoms and fuzzy slippers. My office has been in my home since March….so I typically work in a nice top paired with old comfortable jeans or leggings (earlier it was shorts). And, I don’t think I’ve ever worn shoes to work. I look good from the waist up. LOL

    1. The thought did cross my mind. LOL! But, since I have had several people ask for work attire, I thought that I should show at least one outfit like that.

  11. Sherli Morgan says:

I really like this outfit..and red looks great on you by the way!

Drinking water can be a challenge, but I started this several years ago & it’s been great. Last year I tried Hint water & am a huge fan. I liked the story behind how it got started & then have found the “hint” of a flavor makes it so much easier to drink. Check them out. Be sure to not get the sparkling water, just the regular.

    Thanks for all you do!

    1. Thanks, Sherli. I will check that out.

  12. Love this outfit…. you look so pretty.

  13. Great outfit. In office I usally wear blazer, but at home office I prefer also Cardigans over the blazers. Instead of plain water you can do tea, even fruit tea since this gives a little bit of taste. And sometimes I sparkle in sparkling water just a small amount of juices to have a different taste. Still better than coke and all those drinks which I havn’t drank the last couple of years. And yes for menu planning. Do the same here to always know what to feed everyone. And glad I have discovered slow cookers that you can start early morning and provide a lunch then with no overlooking or effort

    1. I love wearing a blazer and a cardigan. A blazer is a little more restrictive, so a cardigan is usually my choice.

  14. I love the pop of red to the outfit. And great idea to turn the necklace around.the pants to your ribs doesn’t appeal to me, but I love how it all came together! See I would have stopped after trying on the pants, but you pulled together a great outfit!

    1. Kristin, I am persistent. Lol!
