NATIONAL WEAR RED DAY
Today, February 2nd is National Wear Red Day. Here is the dilemma for a blogger, we can’t wear the outfit and post the outfit at the same time. Lol! I have actually run into people around town and they say, “that isn’t what you wore on the blog today.” So, here is a spoiler alert for you, I am NEVER wearing what is on the blog on that day! Lol!!! I figure most of you have already figured that one out. I do want to wear red today, you might see those pictures next week sometime, but I didn’t have any “new” pictures of me in red to talk about. Instead, I decided to look back through my archives and see what red outfits that I could come up with.
National Wear Red day is not about the outfit, it is about the cause. Here is what I found on the goredforwomen.org website.
Why Go Red? Cardiovascular disease in the U.S. kill approximately one woman every 80 seconds. The good news is that 80 percent of cardiac events may be prevented with education and lifestyle changes. Go Red For Women advocates for more research and swifter action for women’s heart health. That’s why this year we are asking that you wear red on National Wear Red Day® and Donate to Go Red For Woman. By doing so you help support educational programs to increase women’s awareness and critical research to discover scientific knowledge about cardiovascular health.
Go Red For Women is a movement that starts with you. Lead by example and make the time to “Know Your Numbers.” It’s knowledge that could save your life. Five numbers, that all women should know to take control of their heart health are: Total Cholesterol, HDL (good) Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar and Body Mass Index (BMI). Knowing these numbers can help women and their healthcare provider determine their risk for developing cardiovascular diseases. It’s time for all women to learn the most critical numbers in their life — their hearts depend on it.
I was shocked when I began to read the statics about women and heart disease. I had thought that Heart disease was a disease that affected mostly men. WRONG!!! Did you know that 1 in 3 women will die from heart disease and stroke! That is 1 in 3! I looked around today at work at the 4 of us ladies working there. One of us has already had open heart surgery. ?
I know this is not my normal type post but I thought it was something worth highlighting. If you are interested in any of the outfits above I am going to link to that post so that you can go back and see where the clothing was purchased.

My mother had a heart attack several years ago. Her only symptoms were those of an upper respritory episode. I have never been so surprised as when the dr. Told us she had had a heart attack. Listen to your body. No one knows better than you when something is “wrong”.
Love you in all these red outfits!!! One of my favorite colors. The info was really sobering though. I did not know 1 in 3.
3 years ago my Dad was complaining about heartburn, (which he had never had before) his Dr. “at the time” just told him to take Nexium, 2 days later my Dad was having triple bypass surgery. He is 82 now and doing fairly well..
Daddy and all of his siblings died of heart disease. Daddy had open heart surgery at age 62 for a valve replacement and again for aortic aneurysm at sge 69. He had a stroke after surgery and died 2 months later. We are all very concerned about our genetic predisposition to heart disease. Two of my siblings are having issues at this point in their lives (50’s and 60’s). This is a very real issue that making some modifications in your lifestyle and early detection can make a difference. I urge every woman out there to take this seriously. God bless! Best…kathy
All the outfits are great, but #5 is my favorite too. All of my numbers are spot on and always have been. Yet, at age 60 I had a small heart attack, having a stent inserted. I come from a family with six gurls. Four of us six have had a heart attack, also both of my parents. Genetics play a huge part in our story. Watch the numbers and urge your family members to also.
My FIL has had 2 heart attacks…the first one was 32 yrs ago, when we were on a shopping trip to buy cribs for our expected twins. Approximately 15 years later he had another one and this time he had bypass surgery. A few years ago he had a pacemaker put in. Today is his 84th birthday and he is doing extremely well!! Thank God for really good doctors!!
My short story is about me. As of yet, I do not have heart disease; however, my doctor is very concerned. I have no risk factors, other than genetics. I am a non-smoking, non-drinking, 125lb. Caucasian Female. My blood pressure is great. My sugar is great. My diet is great. My fitness is on target. Yet, my numbers keep climbing. From December 2016 to January 2018, my total cholesterol went up from 237 to 334. My LDL increased from 163 to 236. This number should be under 99. Nonetheless, he gave me 6 months to “ fix” it or will be forcing drugs, and says he can guarantee a heart attack and/or stroke. Did I mention that I have an 8 year old daughter? My point in this long story…..get tested every year. Sometimes, the risk is silent.❤️
Do you have a link to the actual #4? The red dress with the black blazer.
Lady In Red!!!! Beautiful ❤️ My favorite is #5. I like everything about that look. I really like #4 too. My husband has a really good friend who had a heart attack last year. He did have surgery and doing good now. He has always been in excellent shape due to cycling miles at a time as well as eating healthy. So just because you can be in excellent shape doesn’t prevent you from having a heart attack. I agree with you to always keep those 5 numbers in check. Enjoy your weekend. ~Lisa~
I love all these outfits!! Very stylish! I was surprised how much I liked Candy & Cupid!! It isn’t really my style to wear a short jacket but it is so cute and flattering I may have to rethink that!
