My Favorite Items Worth Investing In for Fall
Fall is my favorite season to refresh my wardrobe. You gurls know that I’m always on the hunt for affordable finds that won’t break the bank, but there are a few items that I believe are worth the splurge if you can. Whether it’s that perfect cashmere sweater or a name-brand pair of boots, I’m a big fan of investing in a “few quality pieces” that will last me for several seasons. Today, I’m sharing my favorite fall items worth investing in for fall.
My Favorite Items Worth Investing In for Fall
Premium Denim
The way a good pair of jeans can make you feel more put-together is unmatched. Sure, they might cost a bit more, but the quality you get in return is unmatched. Features like the perfect amount of stretch, a flattering cut, and denim that holds its shape all day are so worth it. Plus, premium jeans tend to last longer and only get better with time. They’re the kind of piece you can wear on repeat, like this pair by Frame; they’ll always make you look and feel great.
Some of My Favorite Denim Brands to Splurge on:
- I love rag & bone for their cool, effortless vibe that instantly elevates any outfit.
- MOTHER jeans have become one of my go-to pairs for that perfect mix of comfort and style. They have the right amount of stretch and always fit like a dream.
- I also can’t get enough jeans from PAIGE! This is one of my favorite pairs.
Boots
When it comes to fall, a good pair of boots is an absolute must-have in my book. Whether you’re into casual ankle booties or a pair of knee-high boots, investing in quality footwear can really pay off. A well-made pair can last you season after season instead of wearing down after a few months like a cheaper pair can. Plus, there’s something about slipping into a beautifully crafted boot that just makes me feel like I’m ready to take on the world.
Some of My Favorite Boots this Fall:
- These gorgeous croc-embossed knee boots from Nordstrom are perfect for fall. I love the unexpected color, and they look so CHIC!
- These light beige suede boots have a kitten heel, which is so on-trend for fall.
- Wedge booties are a comfortable way to get a little lift this season. This pair has a cushioned footbed and structured arch to keep your feet happy!
Cashmere
Cashmere is one of those luxuries I can’t resist when the weather starts to cool down. It’s soft, lightweight, and feels like a warm hug every time you put it on. Investing in a few good cashmere pieces is totally worth it because they’re so versatile—you can dress them up for a night out or throw one on with jeans for a cozy weekend look. Plus, with the right care, cashmere lasts for years, making it a timeless addition to your fall wardrobe. Trust me, once you try it, there’s no going back!
My Go-To Cashmere Pieces for Fall and Winter:
- This 100% Mongolian cashmere tee is perfect for now by itself and later under a jacket. The large fits me best in this sweater since it has a slim fit. This brand also has a great cashmere cardigan.
- Talbots cashmere is so nice and soft that I buy several each year. This one has a leopard print, which is super popular this season!
- I grab one of these short sleeve wool and cashmere sweaters every year during the NSale.
Coats
When the temperature drops, having a couple of go-to coats that you love can make all the difference in your fall and winter style. A well-made coat is the kind of piece that makes you feel put together, even if you’re just throwing it on over your everyday jeans and tee. Plus, a quality coat will last you for years if you take proper care of it, meaning it’s a piece you can enjoy season after season and year after year.
Coats I’m Loving for this Season:
- I always recommend having at least one longer coat like this in your closet. This not only keeps your legs warm in the winter, but it looks much more polished over a dress for nicer events like a date or a wedding. It looks just as great over a pair of jeans and a top!
- A lighter-weight, transitional jacket like this bomber jacket or this moto one is going to get you through those chilly fall mornings and nights when it’s not cold enough yet for a winter jacket.
- I can’t be without a blazer in my arsenal, and this is one of my favorites right now!
Other Items You Should Invest in for Fall:
- I almost always splurge on a neutral handbag that I can carry with everything in my closet.
- A good pair of sneakers. My current favorite is my Adidas Samba Sneakers.
- A quality white shirt. You can see my list of favorites in this post.
- A black pair of dress pants. These are invaluable to me and can be worn for date nights, impromptu funerals, meetings at the bank, church, etc. I am really liking this pair from Chico’s.
- I always keep a classic pair of heels in my closet. I have a ton of recommendations for you in my 7 Must-have Shoes for Every Fashionable Woman post!
- Last but not least, I love cuddling up in a pair of cozy pajamas and a good plush robe each fall and winter.

Still working on my capsule wardrobe for our October cruise from Boston up the coast and down the St. Lawrence River. Your suggestions have really helped! I’m a month out from my hip replacement, and still in pain. My doctor has x-rayed and all is well with the implant and my bones!
Tania, your daughter-in-law is gorgeous and she does not age. I remember seeing pictures of her on your blog years ago. Autumn is my favorite season to dress and mix and match pieces.
