IS THIS A BAD APRIL FOOLS JOKE
Boy, oh boy, I had hoped that this entire virus thing was a bad April Fool’s joke, but it doesn’t look like that is the case. It turned cold and has rained all day long! I road over to pick up a golf cart with Joe on Sunday, and I noticed that the Redbuds trees were blooming. I told Joe then that it was going to get cold here in just a little bit. I don’t know about where you live, but we will experience Redbud and Blackberry winter every year. When those plants bloom, you can count on a cold spell happening at the same time.
So, I mentioned that I went with Joe to pick up his golf cart. He wanted to bring it home, so we took an enclosed motorcycle trailer to go and pick it up. Joe was worried that the cart might be too tall to fit through the opening, so he had me watch to make sure he had the clearance as he drove it up the ramp. The cart barely cleared with just an inch or so to spare. But, as Joe pulled on into the trailer, I saw that the back of the cart top was going to hit. I hollered for him to stop, but he couldn’t hear me because of the motor of the cart echoing in the trailer. He kept on going, and the cart finally got inside the trailer.
It pushed down on the cart top, but it didn’t do anything to it except for leaving a scuff mark. That wasn’t a big issue, but the issue was now on how to get the cart out of the trailer. I asked him if he could let some of the air out of the tires, and he considered doing that for a minute. Then, I asked him about standing on the back of the cart to see if the weight would be enough to lower the top so that it could back out. I wasn’t heavy enough, but when Joe stood on the back, you could see that it would clear the top. The problem was that he couldn’t stand on the top AND back out the golf cart. Yep, you guessed it! I had to back the cart out, at least until it cleared the opening. I almost backed it off the ramp, and Joe was starting to yell for me to put on the brake. I got out and he adjusted the carts path to get it unloaded. This might be like me cutting his hair…I don’t think that he will be asking me to help him with his golf cart anytime soon. Lol!
If this outfit doesn’t kick the blahs to the curb, then nothing will. I love this brightly colored gingham button-up shirt because it is so fun and festive. Gingham is one of my favorite patterns for tops, and I have several in other colors. Actually, I have gingham in pants, shorts, dresses, skirts, and coats also, so you can say that I am gingham obsessed. This top is lightweight and machine washable. It is long-sleeved, which turned out to be great with this cold spell, but I would roll the sleeves up for a summertime look.
I decided to tie the shirt in the front instead of tucking it in or letting it hang loose. I think that is my favorite way to wear a gingham shirt. I am wearing a medium, and it fits nicely, but I do see that I needed to add a piece of fashion tape between one of the buttons. Here is the link to the shirt.
I wore this top earlier this month (here) with jeans, but I wanted to up the brightness level today, and I think that I succeeded. Lol! I thought these bright pink jeans were super cute, especially with the frayed hem. Evidently everyone else thought they were cute also since they aren’t available on the website any longer. These were from Loft which still has this style of jeans (here), just not in this color.
The slides that I am wearing are a pair that I bought over a year ago. They are by Sam Edleman and I have gotten so many compliments on them since I’ve had them. These are a pale gold metallic color, and they look great in the summer, especially if you have a tan. I am wearing my usual size 9 in these, and they run true to size.

I just wanted to say, I’ve been following you on Pinterest for a couple of years now and your style is wonderful. The others who do fashion for 40+ are just not my style. You are like having a fashionable sister to get great ideas from and I just wanted to thank you.
Jill, that is so sweet of you. I love having lots and lots of sisters!
you sure made me smile today. Love your Joe/golfcart story. 🙂
I am gingham obsessed also. It’s so classic!
I hate hate hate to help my husband backup anything anywhere. RVs, boats, etc. either he’s blind as a bat or I am dumb as dirt but it’s a terrible combination.
I love calico and gingham. I’m just a country girl at heart who loves spring and summer colors. Navy with pink is a great look and it is going to look great with Summer white jeans too.
I love, love the outfit. I love gingham! So pretty and fresh in that hot pink. I live in Indiana and we can always tell when the bad winter weather will be over when the high school basketball sectionals are over. (If you don’t know, basketball is BIG in Indiana). But, they cancelled it this year so Mother Nature is probably confuse this year. I know I am. Do you get to see your grandkids who live next door?
You look so pretty in pink. I was hoping that this whole pandemic was a very bad April Fools joke too…but nope …sadly it’s our new reality. Thanks again for your daily posts. It’s the one certainty I count on right now. Stay safe and well.
Love this outfit ❤️ I have also been feeling like wearing bright cheery colors. Thank you for spreading joy?
I think that bright colors make you feel so much better.
Love, love, LOVE this outfit! You look really great. The colors together are awesome and eyecatching. Love how you take a classic style and update it!
Thanks, Diana! I love wearing bright colors!
You look wonderful! And you look like you are losing weight! What are you doing! Please help me! I’ve been on Weight Watchers for 7 weeks and have only lost 8 pounds.
Jackie, that is about the same amount of weight that I have lost also. Plus, this past week, I ended up gaining a pound or two back. #stresseating
Tania! Love the outfit!!! Looks so springy and happy! You are a doll! I would love to know about your haircut too but don’t have Instagram- any solutions? Thank you!!

Monica, Joe and I have a jetski boat ramp story also! Lol!
You are a ray of sunshine in a cold, dreay time! I have all of those cardigan colours since I need them year round and I would love this outfit. I also have a husband that I have to “assist” in many “fun” situations like this. I will spare you my trip to the dump story!
Lol! Janet, you should entertain us with the dump story.
Gingham is such a lovely print! So feminine!
I love gingham! I think it is feminine also.
