Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a striped tank top, black leggings, a white long cardigan, and linen slidesI have still been working on getting me an office so that I can get all of my stuff off of the kitchen table. We have finally gotten it painted, the flooring down, and the trim work is done. There are a few minor things that still need to be done, but the majority of the hard stuff is finished. I have been looking for a desk, but I hate the idea of buying one off of the internet. Those come in pieces, and they look flimsy, so I can’t bring myself to purchase one.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a striped tank top, black leggings, a white cardigan, and linen slidesAlso, if I am completely honest, I am not positive that I’ll like working from that room. So, I hate to spend money on something that wouldn’t be used. We had an old desk out at the lumber company that hadn’t been used in years. In fact, it was Papa Joe’s desk. (Joe’s father) I had the boys bring it to the house, and you should have heard them whine about it weighing 300 pounds. Lol! The desk had a drawer in the middle, and then it had drawers on each side. If the drawer in the middle is shut, then the other drawers are locked and won’t open.

To get the desk through the door, they had to turn it on its side. After they brought it in, I went to clean the drawers, but they won’t open. The locking mechanism has got off-kilter somehow, and now none of the drawers will open. However, I did manage to get a sliding platform to open, and it had a lumber list taped to it. The list had to be before we installed computers, which was in 1995. I thought it was interesting. Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a striped tank top, a white long cardigan, and gold jewelryI am back today showing you how to take your loungewear/leggings/sweats etc. and make them appropriate for heading out the door at a moment’s notice. The outfit started with me grabbing this striped tank top from the closet. I was hot from running around and cooking, so a tank was what I wanted to wear. The deep scoop neckline is flattering, and I have found that this tank goes with almost anything. I love the thickness of the material of the tank; it has washed up great since I’ve worn it multiple times. I am wearing a medium in this tank, and it fits great. Here is the link to the striped tank, and I’ll see if I can find some similar ones in other colors for you.

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a striped tank top and gold jewelry from Kendra ScottI have some simple gold jewelry on with this look. The Avi large hoop earring in gold are a pair that I just bought the other day. I have had the silver version of these earrings, and I found myself wearing them all of the time. So, when I saw that Kendra Scott was having a sale, I took advantage of that and grabbed the gold version. Almost all stores are having sales off and on at this time because their retail stores are shut down. Take advantage of those sales while they are available.

I am also wearing the gold Rue necklace and the Fallyn link bracelet. Because these are plain colored items, you will find that you will wear them with a lot of different looks.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing linen slides from TargetThese woven linen slide-on mules are going to be perfect for spring and summer. They are so easy to slip on as you walk out of the door, that I have worn them multiple times already. I must be lazy because I would rather slide these on instead of taking the time to put on a pair that I have to buckle or tie the strings.

This was one of the pairs that I ordered in when I did my spring and summer try-on session (here), and they made the cut to stay with me instead of being sent back. I haven’t brought my summer shoes out of storage yet, so these keep getting called into action. I am wearing my usual size 9 in these shoes, and they fit perfectly. The heel is small at only 1.25″ so almost everyone can wear these, plus there is some padding in the footbed for added comfort. Here is the link to the shoes.

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a striped tank top, black leggings, a white cardigan, and linen slides from TargetLeggings are what a lot of us live in on our “down” days. These are the days when we don’t have to get dressed up, which is almost every day now. We might as well take advantage of these comfy days, as long as we don’t slip into comfy and slouchy. There is a right way to wear leggings for when you want to be able to see people, even from a six-feet distance. These are Zella high-waist leggings, and they have moisture-wicking fabric to keep you cool in your workouts. If they can keep you cool during a workout, then they can keep you cool doing housework. Lol! I am wearing a large, and these are still nice and tight. Here is the link to the black leggings.

To head out the door, I would throw on this lightweight open front cardigan by Time and Tru. This is a soft knit cardigan with just enough weight to it to keep you warm on chilly mornings. I don’t want a heavy cardigan at this time of the year, just something that I can put on when you go to the grocery store. Why do they keep grocery stores so stinking cold? You almost have to run down the meat, milk, or freezer section. Lol! Here is the link to this cardigan, and I am wearing a size medium.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a striped top, black leggings, a white long cardigan, and linen slidesI am sorry that I didn’t have time to answer the comments yesterday. Work called and needed me to come in since they were short-handed. Unfortunately, it looks like I am going to have to go in again today to help out.

  3. Very cute outfit. I love your blog…helps me find things to wear that make me feel good “in them!”

Cute outfit! I’m going to copy it and wear it to my drs appointment and nail appointment today! 🥰

Try flipping the desk to the opposite side from how they carried it in, maybe it will flip the mechanism back. Also, if you’re currently at the kitchen table, maybe you don’t need a huge desk with drawers – maybe just a work table. I’ve seen some beautiful ones. If it were me, I’d buy an antique table….

    1. Joe managed to get it unstuck. I do need all of the drawers because the entire kitchen table was covered. I want to get everything off of the table, and turn it back into a place to eat.

I follow a few other fashion blogs but yours is my favorite! You seem like someone I could be friends with……down to earth and “real “. I enjoy it when you share stories of your daily life with Joe. I drive through your beautiful state when I visit my brother in Richmond. I’m from western Pa. Stay well and keep those stories coming! ( and the great fashion!)

Cute casual outfit! My coronavirus wardrobe needed some help. It’s already warm in Houston and I switched my closet, sweaters and jeans upstairs and brought summer stuff down. Problem was I only saved 2 linen tops and they are paper thin from being washed so much. I can only wear clothes one day in this climate. So I went online and bought 2 linen tops from Talbots and 1 from Soft Surroundings. I can’t wait!

    1. I love linen tops, and those are two fantastic stores. The heat and humidity is so hot where you live, I can see why you love linen.

  8. I can’t wear tee shirts or tanks because I’m busty but I love the way they look. I wear long sleeve tees under things in the Winter and tanks under open shirts in summer. I remember an episode of the Golden Girls where they were all wearing leggings and their legs look great. Most women have nicely shaped legs and look good in leggings. I prefer jeans myself because I’m an old hippie. ; )

    1. That reminds me of the song, “I’m an old hippie” by the Bellamy brothers.

I like the outfit and leggings so comfy! Love your lumber list as my husband was in building material business and we treasure the old info from many years back. Enjoy your postings each day and your faith!

    1. That list is special to us because of the ties to his father. I am sure that we will be saving that.

  10. Wow the first thing I noticed when I looked at the old lumber list was my mom’s handwriting, “economy studs utility with the dimensions”.
Outfit looks great on ya but I can’t bring myself to wear leggings!!!!

    1. Christie, I didn’t realize that was Sandy’s writing. You’ll have to show the list to her.

      1. I sent her a picture and asked did she know what that was she replied, looks like an old lumber list, when I told her to look closer at the some of the writing she was like oh my that’s my writing and asked where in the world did u find that I told her you found it tapped to ole man joes desk she got a kick out of it!. Thanks for sharing Tanya!

  11. Thanks for you blog! Send a picture of the desk. It sounds very cool.

    1. Rory, I’ll have to try and take pictures.

  12. I love that you are using your father-in-law’s old desk, that is so awesome. Furniture, especially office furniture, isn’t what it used to be. When we built our office building 7 years ago, I got the best furniture I could find, still laminate covered particle board, and it wasn’t cheap. Now, the edges are coming unglued, etc. Maybe you can paint it and fix it up. I hope you share pictures of your finished office!

    1. Angela, I was thinking about having it refinished. I was thinking about using the Annie Sloan chalk paint, but I am terrible at projects. I want things done NOW.

  13. Great outfit! Your Zella leggings look shorter on than the one on line. Are you wearing your normal size, which I think is a M?

    1. I am wearing a large in these pants. I am 5’6″ tall, and I usually take a 32″ inseam. I might have the leggings pulled up some, I don’t like them to feel like they are pulling down. Nobody wants to see that. Lol!

Cute outfit! I love that you are repurposing the desk! I have my grandfather’s desk that he built in the 1930s. He used it in the Cheesehouse that he owned after coming to the USA from Switzerland. Lots of history, and like yours it weighs a TON!!!!

    1. Mine could use some tender loving care.

  15. Perfect outfit for working from home and I love the shoes!! Those work great for me – now I just have to plan a trip to the US to get them – LOL! I have been working from home for the last two weeks, but my husband (who works in lumber) is still going into work. In Canada, his company is still considered an essential service (for now). Stay safe and thanks for a great blog!

    1. The lumber store is considered essential here also. If your water pipes burst, your shingles blow off, or your water heater goes out, you’ll understand why we are considered essential.

  16. I won’t wear leggings out of the house unless crotch and rear end are completely covered. At 62 years of age I just don’t feel workout gear is meant to wear anywhere other than the gym. I love your outfit, but before I left the house, jeans would replace the leggings.

  17. I would definitely frame that lumber list, what a treasure to find! and I love that you saved that abandon desk. so awesome. I am sure you could pick the drawer locks, I bet they are pretty simple in design.
