50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR A PLAID SKIRT OVER 40 | FASHION OVER 40Gurls, I have good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first??? Never mind, I can’t wait for you to answer because I am too excited. Guess who is staying for a few more days?!? YES, my girl has canceled going back to Alaska, at least for another week or so. She is going to be traveling with me Georgia later this weekend, and if you come to the vintage fashion show this weekend, you can meet her also. Now for the bad news…
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR A PLAID SKIRT OVER 40 | FASHION OVER 40My house is a wreck. What does that matter, you ask? She talked her boyfriend into flying into Atlanta and then driving home with us to Virginia, and this is the first time that he has ever visited. When my daughter comes to visit, she destroys the house. My house is always somewhat in disarray, but she takes it to a whole different level. She brings so much stuff with her that she uses one bedroom to have her clothes, etc., all over the bed, tables, chairs, basically everywhere. Then, she takes over another bedroom to sleep in, and that one has things everywhere also. I guess that he is used to her, and he might as well get used to us too. It is going to be hilarious having him here for a few days. You talk about culture shock; this poor boy has no idea what he is in for. Lol!
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR A PLAID SKIRT OVER 40 | FASHION OVER 40Did you happen to notice the Lolipop sucker in my hand? Lol! I wore this outfit to church on Sunday, and then I took Emersyn to the dollar store for a treat. I bought a bag of lollipops for myself, and I wasn’t about to lay this sucker down just to take photos. Lol! The orange and red ones are my favorites. The top and skirt are both from the Loft Outlet. I bought this on my way back from Tennessee, and I think the outfit turned out great. There are times when you picture how something is going to look in your mind, but it doesn’t turn out to look that way in reality. This tie-sleeve top in the deep teal color is soft and gorgeous. I like that it hits right at my hips so that I can either leave it loose or do a half-tuck. I am wearing a medium in this top, and it fits me great. Here is the link to the top, and it comes in several different colors.
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR A PLAID SKIRT OVER 40 | FASHION OVER 40No reason to show you this up-close picture. Lol! I am just in a habit, and it seemed like the thing to do. I had on a vintage necklace, but while I was sitting in church, I looked down and noticed that it was bright grass green. The lighting in my bedroom is horrible, and I thought it was the same color at my top. NOPE! So, I yanked it off and put it in my purse. Lol! Just a reminder, I will be going to my sister’s next week for a vintage fashion show. This is a yearly event that my mother and her friend have for the Winnwood Retirement Community in Marietta. It is a beautiful facility, and the residents there love the show and all of the jewelry. I told mom that I would start showing everyone some of the vintage items that I have bought at previous shows. I don’t show you a lot of my vintage jewelry since you can’t purchase it in stores. BUT you can join me next week if you live in the area. I would love to meet you on Saturday, the 26th. Early shopping and hors d’oeuvres at 10:30, and the fashion show starts at 11:30.
50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR A PLAID SKIRT OVER 40 | FASHION OVER 40I will admit that I feel like a Catholic schoolgirl in this skirt. LOL! I think this is such a pretty skirt, and I really like the length also. I had envisioned wearing this with black tights, but guess who doesn’t own any black tights. So, instead, we had to settle for a pair of black hose. Emersyn wanted to know how my legs got so tan. I don’t think that she had ever seen a pair of hose before. Hahaha! Here is the link to the skirt. I was running late to church, so I slipped on this pair of loafers because they were sitting at the door since I had worn the night before. I meant to wear a pair of black boots, but I guess I will do that next time.

50 IS NOT OLD | HOW TO WEAR A PLAID SKIRT OVER 40 | FASHION OVER 40BTW, today my baby turns THIRTY! How can my youngest child be thirty years old, especially since I still feel thirty myself? He is a fantastic husband and father, and he has really taken an interest in our business. He is smart, outgoing, and has a very easy-going nature…most of the time. He is natured a lot like Joe, except for the easy-going part, and that comes from me. He also inherited the blonde hair and blue eyes from me. Here are a couple of pictures of my baby.
