This has been one of “those” days. You know the kind of day that I am talking about; the kind where you should have stayed in bed with the covers pulled up over your head. It must have been catching because my daughter called from Alaska, and she was having the same type of day. How do you overcome days like this? I can’t put my finger on where things got off to a bad start, but it was like I had a dark cloud following me around all day long. You know that I am a half-full kind of girl, so I will keep looking for the sun to come out, or at least a rainbow to peek through the clouds.
A blog reader made a comment the other day that she wore tee-shirts of Friday, but felt like they were sloppy and unprofessional. She is correct in her thinking, at least for the most part, because a tee-shirt is very casual. A professional setting is pretty far from casual, so you do not see many tee-shirts worn there. The exception would be if the shirt was a solid, and then you could wear a blazer over it which would make the look dressier.
I don’t own a lot of tee-shirts. I bought this one back in the earlier part of spring because I loved the whimsical cow and the colors in the top. I don’t consider this to be professional, but it is not sloppy. The difference is that the top is a fitted look. When a top is fitted, it looks nicer, and you actually look thinner too. Looking thinner is always better in my book. I like the raglan sleeves on this top for a little added color, but it is the print that drew me to the top. The top is part of the artist collection from Luckybird Clothing Company. This is the same company that my top was from (here) that I wore earlier this week.
I chose to wear turquoise with my look. I wanted to bring out the blues in the top, and adding jewelry to a tee-shirt will elevate the look. Jewelry has a knack for dressing almost anything up a notch or two. I just got my Remington earrings. They are textured silver hoops with marbled turquoise accent beads that dangle. They are a medium size at a 2.25″ drop. If I don’t wear anything, I at least try to wear a pair of earrings. They draw attention to your face. My dainty cross cuff was purchased at the same time as my earrings, but I can’t find it on the website. They must have sold out for a while, and I can see why. This cuff is really lightweight and cute, so be sure to check back later to get yours.
My top is fitted enough, but if it was too large on me, then I would tie a knot in the side to make it appear more fitted. This is a great trick anytime you have a shirt that is in a boxy cut. I have even seen people use the clear hairbands to hold the knot in place if you can’t tie one yourself. The cuffed jeans that I am wearing are from the Loft Outlet. I like how they have a tiny bit of distressing, without having large holes or hanging threads. This is the best of both worlds, or what I refer to as “the baby bear” style. Not too hot and not too cold, but just right. (exert from the three bears) Here is the link to the jeans which are under 30.00! And, another way to dress up a tee-shirt outfit, is by wearing a fashionable pair of shoes. These leopard print shoes are an old pair that I have had for years. They are by Isaac Mizrahi, but I am going to see if I can find a few more for you to see.
