WHAT DO YOU WEAR ON NATIONAL POLKA DOT DAY

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old is celebrating National Polka Dot Day in a black and white Polka Dot sweater

Yay!!! It is finally National Polka Dot Day! Wouldn’t it have been funny if I had posted this yesterday like I almost did? I wonder if anyone would have even bothered to look it up to see if it is a real thing. This National holiday was created in 2016 and has been used to celebrate Minnie Mouse. Shoot, I should have worn my mouse ears. Lol!

I do love polka dots, and I think they are a fun print. It is funny how you associate some prints with fun, some with poetry, some with romance, etc. I bet it isn’t a coincidence that Minnie Mouse’s dress is polka dots! You can bet that a big company like Disney did their research into what would be a print associated with fun.

I had a few polka dots falling from the sky again this morning in the form of snow! I love it when it snows, but I wish it would stick around for a little while. By noon, the snow had already stopped and completely melted. All that I am left with now is soggy grass and freezing temperatures. If it is going to be this dang cold, I at least want to have it all coated in pristine snow. The beauty of the snow makes me forget that my nose is bright red, running like a sugar tree, and my feet and hands have lost all of their feelings.

The answer to the question of what do you wear on National Polka Dot day is simple. You wear POLKA DOTS. They can be big, or small, and they can be on clothing, shoes, or accessories.

My polka dot of choice for today is big and bold. I love the large white dots on the black background, and I love that the pattern extends to the back of the sweater. (see below) This is a soft sweater, and it feels great against your skin. This has a bateau-neckline, which is a fancy name for a wide opening. Lol! This neckline works especially well for women who are pear-shaped and want to create wider shoulders. It also works well for ladies like me who are made like a ruler since it helps create an hourglass figure where none exists.

You can see that hem of the sweater is higher on the sides and longer in the front and back. It doesn’t quite cover all of your toosh, but it gets very close. I am wearing my usual size 1 in this sweater, so I would say it runs true to size. I usually wear a medium for the most part and a large on occasion. Here are a couple of other polka dot items that I have ordered, and you might want to grab them for yourself.

Did you notice my new Louis Vuitton handbag? Y’all, I am so excited about this handbag!!! It arrived yesterday, and as I was taking it out of the box, Joe walked through and saw the name on the box. Ummm, where did you get that handbag? I told him that I earned it from Rodan and Fields, and then he said, “I like it MUCH better now.” Lol! He was afraid that HE had bought it for me. Dang! Why didn’t I tell him that it was what he bought me for Valentine’s Day??? Hahahaha! This is the NéoNoé handbag in the Damier print.

Did you see the blog post I did on Monday with the sherpa jacket? The jacket from Monday’s post was already sold out, so I went looking for one that was similar in looks and style. This jacket is comprised of a faux suede material and faux sherpa, but I found it very nice looking. The zippers are nice and heavy, and the coat was toasty warm. I liked the belt at the bottom of the jacket, but you can leave it undone or remove it if you don’t want to bother with buckling it.

Here is a view of the back of the jacket, and I think it looks just as nice from the back. I am wearing a large in this jacket, and it has plenty of room. The only complaint that I have is that the pockets are not attached to the lining. So, they can flop around and show when the jacket is not zipped. I think that could easily be fixed by tacking the pockets in a couple of places to the faux-sherpa.

The black snap hem Ponte pants are an old pair that I have had for a while. I like them because they are nice and thick, and the snap hem gives them a unique detail. I am wearing my usual size .5 in these pants, and they fit nice and snug. They are only available in Navy now, but I’ll link to a couple of other black pants that will work just as well.

I didn’t list the Quartz dangle earrings and matching necklace. Those were in my Signature Collector’s Box from Kendra Scott, along with a beautiful candle in a decorative glass container and a rose gold wristlet. My lip stain is the one that I have been using for a long time. It is by Chanel, and the color is Daring Red. The black scrunch boots are a pair from Walmart that I styled a couple of months ago, but they have already sold out. So, here are a few that are somewhat similar in style.

Love it all! Cute look, with or without the jacket.
How about styling some “sweatpants/jogger pants/leggings outfits, with the comfy sweatshirts and pants to match? I love all your looks and I do like to “dress up” even while staying mostly at home, but soft sweatshirts and jogger pants are calling my name lately. Just got some cute things from Target, but J Jill and/or Athleta may be a suggestion, if you have access to their clothes. I know Talbot’s and Chico’s also have their leisure lines, but I haven’t tried them.
I did buy the tie dye sweatshirt from Nordstrom that you recently featured, but couldn’t find the pants they showed it with. You are around my age, so I’d love to see what they would look like on you…and I’m not talking about baggy stuff. I love to look polished, even in “sweats!” Just a long winded suggestion!
    Have a great weekend!
