50 IS NOT OLD | GOING THROUGH A RED PHASEI can’t believe January is almost at an end. It seems like we were just watching the ball drop a couple of days ago. Why is it that when you are older that time seems to fly by and when you were younger it seemed to drag? When we are young we are constantly wishing out lives away. When I was young I would wish I was 13 then I would be a teenager. At 16 I can drive a car and hit the open road. I would be an adult at 18 and you couldn’t tell me what to do. At 21 I would then be considered legal. That is 21 years of your life that you have longed for another age. Funny how when that 30 year old mark comes around you start saying, “wait a minute, I want to stay in my 20’s.” Then comes 40, 50, and so on and so on. There was a commercial that used to come on in Nashville when I lived in Tennessee and it was something about being a,”young Nashvillean.” After you reached the age of 35 you were no longer eligible for that promotion. My oldest son is now 36, he is not even considered young anymore. Lol! What does that make me, “Old As Dirt?” hahaha50 IS NOT OLD | GOING THROUGH A RED PHASEAge really doesn’t bother me. I have always been thrilled to get to turn another year older. I am babysitting tonight for Emersyn while her mom and dad had to go to a funeral. One of their best friend’s mom passed away. I offered to babysit the little munchkin who has turned my house into a disaster zone. She got the barbie dream house for Christmas and it is staying over here. The dream house isn’t so bad but it has thousands of little gadgets that goes with it. Those little gadgets seem to always end up all over my living room floor. I just love finding them for the next day or two when I am walking through and step on one. Lol!50 IS NOT OLD | GOING THROUGH A RED PHASEHave you ever noticed that I go through phases? It seems to be a red phase here lately. Haha! Maybe it is because of Valentine’s Day that is coming up soon. Whatever the reason, red is the color of the moment. This bright red sweater is from Old Navy. I seem to be on an Old Navy phase too. Hahaha! Here is a pop quiz. What is the unique detail of the sweater? If you guessed the different texture on the sleeves and on the “V” at the neckline, then you are correct. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding!!! All of these sweaters listed below have some unique textures or details.

50 IS NOT OLD | GOING THROUGH A RED PHASEUp close photos are not my favorite but they are necessary for you to see my earrings. These are called the Lissy and they match the bracelet I have on called the Logan. I didn’t wear the matching necklace called the Londyn, but you can see here where I wore it before. What I have been told is that these are the three extra pieces that you will receive when you join the Team Shimmer and Shine. I can’t guarantee this is what you will receive, but that is what the ones that I have talked to received.50 IS NOT OLD | GOING THROUGH A RED PHASEInstead of the Londyn, I wore my Believe necklace and the Tabitha necklace with the added white Cross charm. The other silver bracelet with all the little balls is called the Wanda.

Texas, Alaska, Georgia, Oregon, Kansas, Maryland, Kentucky, Tennessee, Minnesota, Indiana, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Mississippi, and Florida. What do all of these state have in common? Each one of these state have a Plunder team member in them. That means that there are still a whole lot of states that need to be represented.

Time is running out on this wonderful opportunity. To signup go to www.plunderdesign.com/taniastephens and hit the Become A Stylist button. You can be a part of Team Shimmer and Shine 🙂50 IS NOT OLD | GOING THROUGH A RED PHASEI thought I had lost this satchel. I looked everywhere for it EXCEPT where it should have been. On the top shelf of my closet where I keep purses. Lol! This is one that is several years old. It is one that is a discontinued Stella and Dot purse. The jeans I have on are Vigoss that I bought at Maurices. These too are several years old. I know it is a pain that I keep my clothing for years and can’t link to the exact thing I am wearing. I do try to find you as close to the same thing as I can.

50 IS NOT OLD | GOING THROUGH A RED PHASEThe large blue check shirt I have on came from Cato’s Fashions. I bought this last year to wear to the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam that unfortunately got cancelled due to a Hurricane. This top is sleeveless which makes it perfect to wear under a sweater.

50 IS NOT OLD | GOING THROUGH A RED PHASEI am giving away 4 Rodan and Fields mini eye creams. If you have not already entered then go here to enter.

For those who are friends with me on FaceBook you probably saw my post about Mirror, Mirror, On The Wall. This is a true story about Joe and I. We were out somewhere and we came across some old friends we hadn’t seen in a while. Later on that night Joe mentioned to me that I needed to contact these people. I said alright but is there any particular reason you want me to message them. He then told me that he thought they were starting to look “old” and I might need to hook them up with Rodan and Fields. Exactly how do you tell someone that! ?

Joining Rodan and Fields has three levels you can join at. I am running two separate incentives. One is for the person who is interested in starting a “business.” If you join me in my business with at least the 395.00 kit, I will also offer to reimburse you half of your kit back to you. You could start a business and only have 200.00 invested, email me for the special details at fiftyisnotold@gmail.com For those who want to sign up just to receive the products at the discounted rate, if you signup with the 395.00 kit then I will refund you 50.00, the 695.00 kit will get you a 75.00 refund, and the 995.00 kit will get you a 100.00 refund. I have a goal of signing up one new consultant a month and I hope that is you.

  1. I love when you model outfits with clothes from catos and old navy. These store are my favorites. They’re in my price range and size range. Love this look .

Tania, Thank you for all you do in your blog. I appreciate your tips, ideas, and thoughts as they are encouraging, helpful, and supportive to women like us who are 50 plus and are not old. (A grandma and retired.) If you have time, would you show travel tips, comfortable clothes to travel and packing ideas when traveling on an airline trip to a sunny climate? Thank you and May God Bless! Michelene M.

I don’t know about the RandF lash boost but I have used Latisse for 5 years. I have had no change to my eye color,.

  4. Tania, I have to tell you that your eyelashes are amazing!!! I’ve been watching them since you’ve been using R&F. ha! They are soooo long and thick and even show up well in the distant photos! I notice them now before I notice your jewelry. I seriously need to do something about my thinning eyelashes. Does the R&F eyelash product you use have any warnings or weird side effects? I was told that Latisse can change your eye color. What in the world??? I have green eyes and would like to keep to keep them that color, thank you. Anyway, could you tell me if there are any warnings or side effects….I NEED those eyelashes! 🙂

    1. Kim, there are no weird side effects. The only thing that I ever had happen was when I used too much product and it got in my eyes as I slept. The next morning my eyes where red. That was the first time I had ever used it. Now, I simply wipe off the brush till it is almost dry and apply the serum. There is plenty still on the brush and you can see what it is doing for my lashes. I am still on the first tube I bought which was in October.

  5. Love the red sweater styled with the blue plaid shirt and jeans. A lovely, fashionable, casual outfit–always my favorite!! Have a wonderful day, Tania!

  6. Love the rdd sweater! Speaking of getting older I yolc my 12 yr old grandson I was getting a small cross tattoo on the back of my wrist and he tellx me “Nana you know it hurts wose when you’re old.” Love that boy. Lol

  7. I am so happy to see you styling things you’ve had on your closet for years! I have a real problem hanging onto things (not just clothing) for EVER! I am older than you are, and we both know that fashion repeats itself–in fact, it comes around faster and faster these days! ? If it still fits well, there is no reason in my mind, to get rid of it!

Tania, if you want time to slow down to a crawl, go on a diet! Lol.

    1. I just started my 2847502474435th diet. Hahaha!

I have always been in love with red. You can’t go wrong. As a sidebar, I went back and watched your makeup tutorial again. I always see something different. I am so glad you enjoy wearing makeup. I keep reading where the older we get, the less makeup we should wear. I disagree! I love eyeliner and lipstick! I feel very dreary when I have no lipstick on. It brightens me up! Thank you for the great advice and being you! Love it!

    1. I read that too Susan, and I think it is hockey!!! I like color and I think the older we get the more brightening we need.

Perhaps you told us in another post, but where did you get that large white cross charm? It looks WONDERFUL on this necklace & I’d love to have it just like that. You look so cute today!

  11. any try me sizes of the R&F?
    you could email me

    1. Isabella, I am giving away 4 trial size eye creams tomorrow. Go to my post No Surgery Needed to be entered. However, since Rodan and Fields has a 60-day MONEY BACK guarantee on all their products, you might say that everything is a trial size. Hahaha!

  12. Love the whole look. I have a return to make to old navy this week. Think I’ll look for that sweater.

    1. Sharon, I bought this sweater a year or so ago so I doubt the exact one is there. I bet they will have plenty though that you will like. Lol!

  13. Tania time does fly as we get older but that’s ok…..I’m retiring in about 4 weeks and have been looking forward to ‘Freedom 55’ for along time…lol…..but it can slow down after that! I love Old Navy also….trying to stay away from shopping there until Feb….and then spend those ON bucks! Lol

  14. Fabulous look and wearing a sleeveless top/blouse under a sweater is great way to reduce “bulk build-up”. As far as aging goes, I can remember when my parents were the age I am now and me thinking that they were old and a bit out of touch with current trends. LOL ? I hope that my kids don’t think of me that way.

  15. So funny because I was just thinking the other day about how much red I’ve added to my wardrobe lately — I always avoided it in the past because I never thought it looked good on me. But it must be ok because I get compliments….even from the hubster! Either that or there are just a lot of red lovers (my dad was one) around.

  16. I love this outfit. I love the red sweater and blue shirt together. I wish I had this outfit for my upcoming trip to Florida. I’ve got to get shopping.
I remember when I turned 42 and now I have a son who’s 42. Where did the time go?

  17. I look forward to getting another year older, rather than the alternative. LOL!

Love the outfit. I’m an Old Navy girl myself.

I love how our perspective of time changes over the years, Tania!! It only seems to go fast when we are enjoying it and having fun!! And I’m like you—age is a good thing. I know too many people who aren’t lucky enough to get older, so I try to appreciate the years and love those around me!!

  19. You look super duper as usual! I love that bag ? Yes, we all wish our lives away don’t we. We think it’s going to be wonderful to be ‘x’ age and when we get there it usually isn’t all that!
