GETTING MOVING WITH THE PROPER CLOTHING
This post is sponsored by Nordstrom and ShopStyle, and I will receive compensation, but the opinions expressed are my own.
Today’s post is about getting moving with the proper clothing. Why? My New Year, New You resolutions included getting me moving and I couldn’t do that without looking nice! I have an elliptical machine and a treadmill, but they were only used for hanging clothing on to dry. This year I decided to take back control of my life and put my health as a priority and use the machines for what they intended.
But, you know that I couldn’t possibly exercise without the proper equipment. Since we have already established that I have a treadmill and elliptical machine, that isn’t what I am referring to. I needed clothing and shoes, so I went shopping and found everything that I need at Nordstrom.
Shoes
The shoes that I have been wearing were over five years old, so I was in bad need of new shoes that could give me the support I needed. I wanted a pair that was versatile since I plan on walking outside as well as indoors. Plus, I wanted something lightweight and had good cushioning.
I ended up ordering the On Cloud X Training Shoe, and so far, I love them. I ordered my usual size 9 in the shoes, and my toes have plenty of wiggle room. These shoes come in several different colors, but I ended up going with white and black to go with any outfit that I decide to wear. I also love the ventilation at the toes and sides to give your feet a chance to breathe.
This is a water repellent trail running shoe.
This is a good running shoe.
My husband swears by Brooks shoes, so here is a pair that looks great.
Socks
I don’t normally wear socks, but I will always wear socks when I wear athletic shoes. I couldn’t decide which pair of socks to get, but I ended up getting the Zella 3-Pack No-Show socks. This was a harder decision than you think because I was worried that the no-show socks would fall down inside the shoe. However, these socks stayed up great, probably because they have a strip inside the heel that keeps them from sliding.
Crop Leggings
I love the crop design leggings, especially in the spring and summer months. Since I would be walking inside, I figured that these high waist tulip crop leggings would work out great. I am not a fan of super tight compression pants, and these leggings are perfect for me. They are comfortable for lounging as well as for exercising.
I wasn’t sure which size I would need, so I ordered this navy pair in a medium, and I ordered this gray pair in a large. Both items fit me well, but the large is more comfortable for an everyday lounging item.
These two items are also good choices. I ordered the bike shorts so that I will have them this summer.
Sweatshirt
I love this ink splattered sweatshirt, and the colors will go great with both pair of leggings that I ordered. It is a beautiful sweatshirt that you can wear at any time, but it is great when you want to walk outside in the colder months of the year. This is an oversized shirt on the top, but it is tighter at the base. It hugs the hips, and that is perfect for keeping the cold air from hitting your skin.
I ordered a medium in this top, but a large would have worked too; it would have been looser at the hem and more oversized at the top. Since this is 100% cotton, I think that I will return the medium and order the large. I am afraid that it might shrink when it is washed, and I want it to stay oversized.
The sweatshirt comes in several different colors, so check all of them out. Also, here is another sweatshirt that is almost identical that you might like. Getting moving with the proper clothing could not be easier!
T-Shirt
When I am walking and exercising inside, the sweatshirt can be too hot, so I also ordered this colorful outfit to get me motivated. I looked at several styles of tops, and I ended up getting this Ava t-shirt. The last thing that I wanted was a clingy top sticking to my midsection, and this top is loose even though I am wearing a medium.
The top color that I am wearing is called Pink Paradise, but I think it is a coral/orange color instead of pink. This flattering top features a v-neck, short sleeves, and a soft, stretchy fabric that will move with you as you exercise.
Ankle Leggings
These Zella high-waist ankle leggings are GORGEOUS! I love this floral print, but the moisture-wicking material is why you will want to wear these leggings over and over again. The leggings feature a four-way stretch fabric and an interior pocket at the waistband where you can stash cash or keys as you walk.
I ordered a large in these leggings, and I love how they fit. The leggings are snug, but they are not tight, and they don’t rub or irritate you as you move.
Lightweight Jacket
If I walk outside right now, I would need a lightweight jacket or hoodie. This full-zip hoodie is the best of both worlds. It is perfect for grabbing on the go as you head out of the door, whether you are going for coffee or heading to the gym.
The hoodie is soft and comfortable, and it has plenty of room. I ordered a medium, and it fits me great. This hoodie comes in several colors, but I ordered the black so that I could wear it with anything at any time.
If you prefer a tighter silhouette, then this track jacket would be a good alternative.

Hi Tania,
Could you share your exercise plan with us? I also have the same equipment, I haven’t been as diligent with my routine as I had planned. This is great inspiration! I find my legs need the most toning.
Thanks
Kim😊
PS- Good for you!
You look absolutely GREAT!!!
Kim, I don’t have a plan right now. I just try to make myself do something. Walk on the treadmill, elliptical, or outside is what I am concentrating on right now, but I want to incorporate some weights soon.
That is a good goal plan Tania! Just do something, which is much better than do nothing. I have read it takes at least 21 days to form a habit. My problem is I work 3-4 days a week 10 hr shifts on my feet in nursing, when I do get home I so tired. I don’t feel like exercising and my healthy eating habits go to pieces in the evening. So I need to just do something each day and not lose control of what I eat in the evenings. We are almost identical with are weight & height.
# All things are possible with God.
My favorite verse. 💕
You inspire me in so many ways. 😊
Great exercise clothes. In a former life I taught step aerobics and we work tights with thong leotards. Clearly the women who needed it the most would be mortified to wear that get up. On the other hand I see women in the 200+ club in stores wearing skin tight leggings with really clingy short crop tops and I wonder, where is their dignity! Thankfully those of us with a modicum of decency and self esteem can find comfy, colorful and non-revealing attire for exercise. Things like your picks can go from the gym to do errands, unlike my 80s Olivia Newton John outfits. That said, I really like leg warmers. I discovered them when I took dance. They really help keep the lower leg warm and limber. And look insanely good with high top colored Reeboks. I had a dozen different pairs, all different colors,
That is so interesting, Liane. I used to do step aerobics, but I never wore those outfits. Lol!!!
I would love to hear you check back in to tell us if these stay up when you are working out (or you can just message me 😉 . I like to buy my leggings a little looser, like you do, but some of them don’t stay up when I’m out walking, much less hanging around the house. The challenges of being short. sigh.
Cindy, I’ve worn these a couple of times, and they seem to stay up for me. I wore the floral pair all day long, sitting and writing, and they didn’t slide down.
Love these outfits and seeing prints/designs instead of all boring black which I tend towards. As always, you are a great inspiration!
I have been known to only go with black when it comes to workout clothing, but I love brights also.
I workout daily & do a body pump class 3 times a week. I wear Capri leggings & a razor back top & in the summer I wear shorts while working out. I think you will find you are going to get extremely hot in that long sleeve top and get leggings that wick away moisture.
Brooks tennis shoes are my favorite.
When it gets to be summer, you can bet that I will be adjusting my outfit. But, right now, it is in the 30s and 40s, so long sleeve and leggings it is.
Great workout fashions!! I like the longer boot cut type yoga pants but may have to look into wearing the style you featured. I always feel better when I exercise and the benefits are so worth it. I actually have way more energy than if I don’t do anything. Congrats on making a healthy choice to begin an exercise regime!
Gayle, I like the boot cut yoga pants also, and almost ordered a pair. But, they seemed extremely long, so I went with the crop and ankle length instead.
Such cute exercise clothing. Thank you for sharing.
Do you also have a dressy v-neck t-shirt you could recommend that isn’t too low cut?
Thanks much.
Karen, I am glad that you like the post. I haven’t looked for a dressy v-neck tee this year, but it will be on my radar.
Every time I want to purchase something from your post the item, color or size is never available. How far in advance do you purchase then post that these items are sold out? Very, very frustrating!!!
Kathy, it is frustrating for me also. I don’t know what you were trying to order, but this outfit came in on Thursday, and I posted on Monday.
Love all your fitness wear. I love cropped leggings and yoga pants for working out in.
I am trying to do 2 exercise sessions a week, using Yoga and my exercise bike.
It is hard to get in the habit of exercise, but it is worth it in the end.
Tks for inspiring us to get right clothes to get fit. On a side note, Please don’t compromise your values and not post your daily scripture because the post is sponsored– I don’t think your sponsors would have an issue with that and if they do then maybe they aren’t the right sponsor. I enjoy your daily posts for a variety of reasons and your daily scripture is one of them.
Sandra, I am glad that you enjoy my posts. My faith is my faith, and I don’t think that it is right to post it on a sponsored post. That is just my opinion, but I wouldn’t feel right posting. I do post daily in my Instagram stories, so you can check there if you would like.
