50 IS NOT OLD | FINDING STYLISH FLATS FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40The other day I filmed a video that I uploaded to my LinkedIn account regarding the comparison bug. I talked about how we tend to compare ourselves with other people that we see on social media. The problem with that type of comparison is that it isn’t an accurate representation of a person’s life. Social media is usually only the highlight reel, and you hardly ever get to see or hear about the things that go on behind the scenes. Warning!!! You are about to hear a behind the scenes story that will make you feel better about your day.50 IS NOT OLD | FINDING STYLISH FLATS FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40 On Saturday’s blog post (here), I talked about taking my youngest grandchild, Beckham, to watch a homecoming parade. I talked about all of the fun and the candy that we gathered, but I failed to mention the rest of the story. Beckham and Emersyn made beds for themselves on the floor so they could watch cartoons. I was cleaning the kitchen, so Ashleigh kept popping her head around the corner to keep an eye on them. They were little angels, all covered up and cozy looking. Ashleigh popped her head around the corner again, and when she came back into the kitchen, she asked me about a feather tree that I have sitting on a cedar chest. She said, “Mom, that feather tree reeks, you need to get rid of that thing.” I was confused, so I said, “what do you mean it reeks? There is no reason for it to stink; what does it smell like?” She went back and smelled of it again, and then she said, “it smells like poop!” All around confusion set in, and we couldn’t figure out why the tree would smell. Then Beckham decided to come into the kitchen and give Ashleigh the frog statue that he had been playing with. As he handed it to her, she noticed that the frog, AND his hands were a funny shade of brown. You guessed it. Beckham, like a lot of men, sits with his hands down the front of his diaper. He had used the bathroom and was covered in the smelly crap. We quickly grabbed his hands and started washing him down with soap. The good news to this story is, Ashleigh has now confirmed that my feather tree doesn’t smell after all. LOL!
50 IS NOT OLD | FINDING STYLISH FLATS FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40There are swirls and swirls of colors on this dolman sleeved top. My daughter came through as I was getting dressed, and told me that I looked like a rock. I think that she was talking about the rock formations that you can see in the mountains. I thought the pattern was interesting and unique, even if I do look like I am part of a geologist project. Lol! This top has a cross over open front and an elastic hem. The top also comes with the attached dark brown camisole. I bought this at Versona, and here is the link to the top.
50 IS NOT OLD | FINDING STYLISH FLATS FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40Today’s jewelry is a mix of new and old. The large yellow necklace is a vintage bakelite necklace that I have had for years. Bakelite is an early plastic, and very first dominoes were made from this material. I have been collecting Bakelite bracelets for a long time, and I also have a few necklaces and earrings. The earrings and bracelets that I have on are from this month’s Plunder Posse shipment. Plunder Posse is a monthly subscription that is 25.00, including shipping and taxes, and you get one to three items shipped to you each month. It is like Christmas every month with this service. There is no enrollment or cancellation fee, so you can unenroll if you don’t like a Posse one month. Here is where you go to sign up for the Posse subscription.
50 IS NOT OLD | FINDING STYLISH FLATS FOR FALL | FASHION OVER 40My pants are from Democracy, and they are a tiny bit different than the ones that I wore on this post. I fell in love with this color, but they didn’t have the size that I needed. So, I took a chance and bought a size 12 in hopes that they might run small. But, they are too big on me, so after I took this photo, I packaged them back up to go back to the store. I found them online here, so I will probably order them instead. You will probably be seeing me wearing my Tory Burch loafers a lot this fall because of their color. These are perfect for those of you who want to look stylish but need to wear flats. Here is the link to the shoes.

  1. What a sunny look. With the rain we’ve had it would be great to wear that outfit. It’s not cold just rainy but I love wearing bright colors on gloomy days, those shoes need to be in my closet! Those and the wine ones you wear sometimes, Going to click on the top and be told it’s sold out!
About poop. Hey life stinks sometimes, ?

  2. Your outfit is darling! Laughed so hard when I read about your grandson’s habit of sticking his hands down his diaper! I laughed and reread it and laughed again! I went through a similar thing with my youngest (now 18) granddaughter. Was babysitting her and had no idea after I changed her pamper, she always had to have pants over them. When I went in to check her, the eyelet crib bedding as well as the rungs on her crib were cover in poop! I started laughing and carried her right to the tub with the overhead shower! OMG, took me all day to clean the eyelet bedding, washed and bleached over and over! We’ve been through a lot with these grands! Wouldn’t change a thing! LOL
